Who: Yachiru Kusajishi, Yumichika Ayasegawa
What: Nightclub, part two! Yachiru sneakily gets into stuff and Yumichika is catty. Like that’s new for either of them?
When: After part one. Yesh.
Rating: Low-ish.
Status: Complete!
The nightclub was busy and bustling with people, the bar was overcrowded, and Yumichika was dying for an appletini precisely two-point-five seconds after they got through the door. So of course, he veered off for the bar, because first things were first things. Even if Yachiru was on a mission, he wouldn’t feel right standing there as a decoy if there wasn’t a drink in his hand.
It was obvious that he was buying when Yumichika ordered his own drink and turned to Yachiru, asking, “What would you like to have?”
Alcoholic or not, it was her choice. And whatever it was, either way, it was probably going to be sweet as candy-laden sin.
Yachiru had no problem getting them into the nightclub, using her skills to sneak past the security because she knew she probably wouldn’t pass for someone over twenty one. Once they were inside, she stuck close to Yumichika, but her eyes were peeled on the crowd, watching and observing everybody and everything. She nearly missed his question and she turned and gave him a bright smile when she did hear it. “Hmm...something pink! I’ll let you order it!”
She jumped up onto the bar stool beside Yumichika, watching the back doors and watching people’s hands, all the while appearing like she was just a normal person in the crowd. That was part of Yachiru’s skill set...blending in. It’s how she was able to sneak in to places so well, besides her skills of knowing how to pick locks and security codes as well as hack into computers. Which, she wondered briefly if she should hack into their computer here to check out their financial situation, since that’s what Gin was primarily concerned about. How to do that without being noticed, though? That would take a moment of thought on her part!
"One pink flirtini," Yumichika said with a smile and promptly put the bartender on ignore, because he was not accepting any questions about Yachiru's age. Simply do it and begone, person whose face wasn't as pretty as Yumi's face was. As if.
He paid for the drinks and passed Yachiru's over to her, sipping his own and surveying the place. It was crowded and the music was loud without being earpoppingly obnoxious, and the people looked fashionable enough. There were even a few people with suits on, but Yumi didn't notice them so much. He imagined they were bodyguards for the VIP areas, and their suits looked cheap. Nothing worse than a cheaply made suit. Ugh.
He leaned in so Yachiru could hear him, looking bored because that's how people in higher end nightclubs were supposed to look: Drunk & Bored. With a side of Potentially Catty.
"Tell me what I should do, Yachiru, and I'll work the floor," he offered, since he was good at working floors. It gave people a chance to focus on the one thing they should be focusing on: Him.
Sipping at her drink when he paid for it, Yachiru offered a cheerful grin, remembering her cover story well for Yumichika. With Yumichika, she was a private investigator. But, really, she was on a mission for Gin to verify that people were laundering money from the Yakuza for themselves, basically, rather than putting it where it should belong. Her eyes almost instantly spotted the men who she suspected were part of this trade business, and Yachiru giggled happily when she did.
“I have two tasks for you, then!” she announced happily, keeping her tone cheerful and using Japanese, which was still more natural for her to speak. If anyone were listening in, it would sound like she was talking about how happy she was about her pet cat or some delicious meal that she cooked correctly. Something like that! “I’ll let you choose first, kay? The group of men by the back door by the stage...I need them distracted. I think….” she tilted her head a moment ….”that the third one in might be a bit queer, if that’s your style! If not, I trust you to find a distraction for all of them! Also, the bartender.” Yachiru turned and waved directly at her bartender, as if making a point without making a point at all.
“I need to get at his computer...can’t do that if he’s watching!” She said this very cheerfully, grinning over at Yumichika happily all th while. “So, you ready?”
Of course it wasn't like the music came to a screeching halt, with the needle scratching over the record. But Yumichika was staring at her like it had. One eye twitched. It would have been more noticeable if he was wearing the eye feathers he usually wore, in his dreams.
"...a bit queer if that's my style? What's that supposed to mean?" he shot back, in fluidly spoken Japanese. Offended, Yumichika huffed and looked like every one of his feathers had been ruffled the wrong way, all over. "I thought it was established that I love myself."And maybe secretly? Ikkaku. But that might only be for the highly reflective sheen of his bald head.
Yumi turned to look at the bartender and then rolled his eyes. That bartender had facial scruff of the sort that was vastly unappealing to his finer sensibilities.
"I'll take the watch men, since they're at least wearing suits. They don't look like some poor excuse for a Brad Pitt impersonator, which they are not pulling off well. Ugh." Yumichika turned again toward the bartender, saying in English, "Stop trying so hard. It's pathetic."
Then he went back to sipping his appletini and waiting for Yachiru to give him the go ahead.
Not even phased, as she’d expected such an answer from the other, Yachiru wound up giggling in response to his moment of just being Yumichika. She grinned brightly, then waved her hand forward, as if silently giving the go ahead for him to get going. “Aw, I wouldn’t notice much about my friend,” Yachiru commented playfully to the bartender.
She turned to the first person next to her, engaging them in a bright and cheerful conversation, which she later managed to get the bartender involved into the conversation as well. When she skillfully navigated the conversation so the bartender was dutifully speaking to the other customer, Yachiru hopped over the counter and pretended to be curious about the drinks, all the while keeping up her distractions so that eventually she could attack the computer behind the bartender’s back.
Yumichika took that opportunity to walk over to the two men in black suits, whom he supposed were supposed to be like posh bodyguards guarding a door to a very important back room. They really only looked greasy and cheap, and put on his best Drunk Gay Guy act. Honestly, it wasn't that far of a stretch for him.
"Your suits. Are. Fabulous." He started to move in a little closer, winking at the one that Yachiru had pointed out as a target for affection to be lobbed at. "Where did you get them? Men's Wearhouse?"
He sipped his drink with one hand holding the glass, and with the other hand, began to smooth down the lapels of a suit jacket, as well as fiddle with their long black ties. While one of the men looked like he could care less, the other was eating up the attention and fawning, which caused guard #1 to stare at guard #2 like he was an idiot. Stop flirting at work, dumb butt. Eeesh.
Their attention was diverted though, and Yumichika kept them both engaged in conversation, so that Yachiru had that extra time to go unnoticed, and even sneak in the back room, if she wanted.
She was quick. Super quick. Yachiru hacked into the main computer from the bartender’s computer. She got the computer evidence that she needed, and she looked over to see Yumichika taking care of things on his end. She was gone and back before even the bartender noticed, gathering the evidence that she needed.
Once she had her evidence, Yachiru beamed and ran over to Yumichika. “Eeee, peacock-chan!” she squeed happily, a grin on her features. “I’m so happy to see you here!” She acted like they’d come separately, so happy that he was here and she’d run into him. The sparkle in her eyes said that she’d completed her own mission, but she probably wouldn’t have a plan to actually tell him about that.
He noticed. Enough that he said, after a dramatic pause, "Oh, excuse me. It's my ex and we broke up because she was too hyper for me to keep up with."
"Pinky~chan, you look divine." He gave her an air kiss by her cheek and said in low spoken Japanese so only she could hear over the din around them, "If you want in the back room, I can keep these two occupied. If you're done though, tell me how terrible I am for not calling you and we can leave."
She giggled a bit that he thought she would have needed extra time than what she’d been given. She was known, not just in the Yakuza but mostly in Japan, for being quick. She could move across a room in a few minutes, hack into a computer in under that amount of time, and gather information in under ten minutes. It was something she’d perfected over the years, with the help of Kenny being loud and fighting behind her. It gave her way for being able to be sneaky.
“Eee, Peacock-chan,” she greeted in Japanese, then she switched to a higher pitched than normal English, “I can’t believe you haven’t called me, love! I thought we’d decided to be friends, since you know where I can find all of the delicious candy!” Her deft fingers were already moving, though, and she snuck the wallet out of the guy Yumichika had been talking to. Extra payment for him for helping her, of course. She’d plucked out a nice $300 bonus for him, too! He would be happy about that, probably not minding where the money had come from if he’d ever even known about it.
It probably wasn't wise either to stick around a place with a splintered-off group of Yakuza members. Of course, Yumichika didn't know that part, or that Yachiru was paying him for his help with stolen money, because he was too busy tilting his head just so and looking pretty. It was his own form of distraction. He smiled beatifically at someone walking past and then pretended to be insulted, like what she said had finally sank in.
"Ugh. We broke up because of your candy addiction, don't you remember? I wasn't supposed to be encouraging your habit, according to the rehab center." He waved it off, while sipping the remains of his appletini. "Let's go talk about it and catch up. Excuse us. I want to see if she's been attending her meetings and maybe we'll patch up our relationship again."
Yumichika gave the two men a wink, and started to move with Yachiru in the away direction, toward the exit.
