Ana Lucia had wanted to see “Riddick”, this just wasn't the way she'd expected to go about it. Her heart was still thundering in her chest from the last spot she'd teleported to - which had been the middle of the damn road in Irvine. She'd completely panicked as any sane human being suddenly thrust upon with super powers would have, and subsequently poofed out of existence there and reappeared inside the movie theater she now found herself in. Thankfully she'd ended up in the aisle instead of on someone's lap.

She could hear Vin Diesel's deep voice uttering his trademark line and she glanced up at the large movie screen a moment before slowly walking towards the back of the theater. Tendrils of vapor clung to her and then evaporated, leaving behind a less than pleasant odor akin to the worsts parts of New Jersey; it was her only frame of reference. Ana glanced at the crowd and realized half of them were staring at her in slack jawed disbelief, 3D glasses still on their faces. It wasn't everyday someone teleported into the middle of a movie theater, complete with bamf! sound effect. She could hear people muttering about the unpleasant odor that was now dispersing in her wake and Ana decided to walk just a tad faster out of there.

Once outside she wandered the lobby as she posted on the Network about this bewildering experience. She'd just been minding her own business chilling out in her hotel room on one of her few days off, so what the hell?

"Huh," she huffed as she got replies and thankfully some advice on how to get back where she'd started. "Line of sight huh?" She strode purposefully out of the movie house and took a look around. Still in Irvine, she'd drive through here once in awhile so she sort of recognized the place. "Line of sight." She repeated, tapping her phone to her chin in thought. She'd been told it was best to think about places she mentally knew well, like her hotel room. But she was worried she'd end up in any hotel across the damn county. Or country. "Let's try something easier, chica." She told herself. Ana walked around the corner to a small alley that led to a parallel street. She decided to try just teleporting to the end of the alley there...

John had been having some long days and he was glad to have the day off today. He had been working hard and today he just hoped to have a nice easy day and then see his wife for some nice good evening times. It was with this thought that he stepped into the shower, and started it up.

He had not expected someone to suddenly be there, suddenly be in front of him, in the shower. John blinked, backpedaled and reached out with his telepathy instinctively, but sensing no menace, he dropped his hands. He ignored where they were or the fact that he was a naked male and she a dressed female, and nodded to her. “Are you okay?”

Ana had arrived with a BAMF! that was most certainly louder than the last time. Brown eyes went wide as she got the most incredulous look on her face. The water was startling enough, and in no time she was soaked through her clothes. But immensely more awkward than showing up in someone’s shower, was showing up in it with someone already in the shower. Ana Lucia blinked stupidly for a moment, hands in the air stuck in a startled position as her brain tried to register what had just happened.

This wasn’t the end of the alley by the theater. She was in a shower. With a naked stranger asking if she was okay.

“I….I’m in a shower.” was all she could get out, and as is per human habit upon encountering a naked person, instantly looked down. Ana felt her face flush and glanced away at the tiles. “Jesus, I’m so sorry. I just...this day’s been crazy, I don’t even know how to explain this.” There was that vapor again, the one that was like brimstone. Great, because you know, this couldn’t get any more awkward.

John hmmed, then he flowed and shifted, one arm elongating past her and turning off the water even as his body took on the appearance of clothing. He stepped out and grabbed a towel for her. “Here, step out of there, you’re soaked.” He shook his head. “Let me guess, new to powers, not yet able to control them, and accidentally popping in places?” He smiled wryly. “I know a few people who have gone through that.”

"Whoa, whoa!" Ana instinctively ducked as the guy's arm just pulled a Fantastic Four. Ana looked at the man wildly - if he really was one - as he shifted into looking fully dressed. What the hell...?

Warily she took the towel and stepped out slowly. She stood dripping wet, holding the fluffy fabric, trying to figure this guy out. "Yeah, you could say that," she said, answering him. After a long pause she dared to ask, "What are you? An alien?" Ana Lucia didn't watch much scifi, so it was a guess at best. "How are you able to do...all of what you just did?" Her eyes quickly scanned him afraid he'd go all naked again. Not that he wasn't nice to look at, mind you, but it was just straight up awkward.

John smiled at her. “The dreams gave me powers, and memories, far beyond my own. Now I can do things most people can’t. And maybe I can help you…” He held out his hand to her.

“Why not let me try?”

There it was. Those dreams everyone was always talking about. This town was just all kinds of strange; boy she missed New York something fierce! She'd take a rambling homeless guy over stepping into what looked like the world of a comic book.

"Um, okay." Ana replied, staring at his hand stupidly before realizing she needed to take it. She dabbed herself with the towel first and ruffled her hair a bit with it, then took the stranger's hand.

And then gently, John’s mind touched hers. Carefully, he smiled in his mind. I am a telepath, Miss, and some of what I have done, is help people. Concentrate on where you want to go. Breathe in and out, and let your fear and stress go. Warmth and confidence, and a total lack of any desire to hurt her was with those words, like a gentle hug in her mind.

Ana Lucia had no idea what he hell was happening, but by the time she figured out the sudden friendly feeling in her brain was this guy, she was then hearing his voice. In her head. Startled, she almost broke contact, but felt the need to calm down and be still instead.

What. I don't even know your name. How am I gonna... she thought to herself, hoping he could hear her. She felt the confidence then, which was very reassuring to her, a woman more used to being in control of things. Falling silent, Ana started doing what he said. She slowed her breathing, released the ball of stress in her gut, and glanced past him. Should I try a small leap? Like to the door of the bathroom?

My name is John Jones and I am your friend. And he gently nodded, eyes warm. First concentrate on it as an image in your mind, see yourself there, then try to will it to happen. It was highly likely it would misfire of not work the first time they tried it, but John would do his best to help her.

Ana set her jaw and a steely, determined look at the point by the door where she wanted to go. Just in case, she started, a glint of humor in her brown eyes, My name's Ana Lucia. She turned back towards the door and used all of her imagination and concentration focusing and willing on that point -

*BAMF!* She felt herself vanish from John's touch and reappear just as suddenly...

*BAMF!*...right by the door! She looked at John with a huge grin of relief on her face. "I didn't end up in a wall!" She exclaimed, and laughed. "I can do this! I can friggin' teleport! Thank you!"

“You’re welcome! And remember, you need to concentrate, and relax at the same time.” He nodded to her. “You can do this, and you can make it.”

He led her outside to the hall and into the spare room. “If you ever wrongly teleport and need a place to go, visualize this place, this room, this spot. How it feels, looks, and sounds. This room isn’t used at all, and it will always be like this.”

Ana looked about the room John took her to and scanned it carefully, memorizing all the details. It was a good call to have a kind of default place to go to just in case. She turned around and shook his hand gratefully.

“Thanks, John. I appreciate it. Now I’d just like to go home.” she smiled. “I think I can do it now.” Well, she hoped. The confidence he had given her had certainly helped.

She took a step back, scanned the room one more time, then turned to look at John as she concentrated on her hotel room. With a slight smirk she murmured, “There’s no place like home. There’s no place like…”

With a BAMF! and a poof she was gone suddenly, and just the same she reappeared.

“...ho...OLY CRAP.” Ana clapped two hands over her mouth and stood in absolute horror. This was definitely not home!

Winston, who was in the middle of one of his video sessions with his wife, stopped, and sighed. He didn’t bother to hurry in doing so, but he did cover himself up, even as his wife clicked off the visual. Winston eyed Ana, then nodded. “Orange County madness?” Here was low key anger, and resignation, in his tone as he surveyed this stranger.

By the time the man had spoken Ana had already turned away, facing the wall, facing anything other than the view she'd just had of an older man jerking off to a computer. She'd stared in shock and then looked away but could tell he'd taken his time covering himself up. How could he be so casual? What did he mean by 'Orange County madness'? It sounded like strangers interrupting his private time was a regular occurrence.

"I am so sorry," she said to the wall, putting her hands up and out in apology. She tried to form words and ended up sighing in resignation. She couldn't even get herself to try to explain herself a second time today to yet another naked man. Instead she stood there, trying not to shiver as she was still pretty wet from the shower, her white top soaked through and her jeans clinging to her in spots that was just annoying. "Just um, lemme know where the door is sir, and I'll be gone."

Slipping a robe on and tying it off, he sighed and smiled at her. She was rather pretty, especially now when she was upset. He waved a hand at her apology. “Hardly your fault. And can you teleport again, or Can I send you home in one of the fleet cars?” Winston Frost pulled his cloak of formidably around him. He may have been pleasuring himself, but he was a man who had been in many bad situations. This one was easy.

“Young lady, in time, you will realize that in this town, weird things happen a lot. If you are ready for that and accept it, then you will be much better off.” Just as he finished, there was a buzz at his desk and he sighed and hit a button. “Yes?”

His lobby switchboard operator was there.“Mister Frost. There is a Mister Jones on the line, He says it has to do with your visitor?” Her voice was quite confused. “Thank you, I will talk to him.”

A moment later, John’s voice came on. “Sorry about that, Winston. Newbie to her powers, afraid she isn’t quite an expert yet. If you can arrange for a large coat for her, I can pick her up outside in a minute.”

He paused, then spoke again. “If that’s okay with you, Ana.”

At some point during the older man’s speech, Ana had glanced and figured out he’d pulled on a robe, thank goodness. She turned around to face him. When he told her just how common stuff like this was, she wrinkled her nose and brow in what was her look of bewilderment. “You mean to tell me this sorta thing goes down all the time? The hell kinda place did I move into?” Now she had her hands on her hips, but feeling the wet fabric, remembered her status, and suddenly self aware, crossed her arms across her chest. Man this was so messed up.

As Frost talked on his intercom, Ana glanced about and realized this guy was serious money. It was quite impressive. She listened to the conversation and was surprised when John suddenly was on the line.

“Small world,” she muttered. Then speaking up, “Um, sure. Thanks...John.”

“I’m afraid so. And you, my dear lady, moved into the weirdest place on Earth. I’m rather fond of it.” He nodded.

He watched her, grinning, and admired her chest until she covered it. What? He had no shame in that. She was a very nicely built woman and she had interrupted him, and saw quite a lot more of him!

“Good. Thank you, Mister Jones.”

John hung up. And Winston turned to Ana. “What is your name, young lady?”

God, was he ogling her? It would almost be fair play except she’d dropped in by mistake. She tried not to make a face since she was, after all, the interloper here.

“Ana Lucia,” she decided not to give him her last name, just in case he was some sort of rich creeper. She didn’t have much for him to track down on her since she was at a hotel and had little to no personal life here as of yet, but still, Ana played it safe.

“So this place is some sort of Twilight Zone? Anything else I should be expecting?” She pushed back a wet wavy lock of hair hanging by her face that was annoying her.

“My name is Winston Frost, and I hope you find that this place is not quite so bad, most of the time.” He nodded to her, sitting down. “You wouldn’t believe me. But if something happens that makes you doubt your reason, or your eyes, don’t.”

A woman came to the door, knocked and spoke. “Mister Frost? I’m here to escort your guest to the front lobby.”

“Ah, there you go.”

She huffed. "I skipped past the denial stage the minute I dropped into the middle of traffic when all I was doing was headin' for the tv remote." Ana turned at the knock and was relieved she now had an escape route. She turned back to Frost at the door. "Thanks, Mister Frost. And.." she gesticulated uselessly, "Sorry." She turned and followed the woman out to the car.

Winston smirked as he watched her go, and nodded, then clocked the monitor back on. “Now, where were we…”

Meanwhile, John stood next to the car out front and smiled. When he spotted Ana, he nodded to her escort, then opened a door for her. “As soon as i sensed things had gone awry, I came.”

Ana looked at him quizzically. “‘Sensed’? What are you, a Jedi?” She got into the car and gingerly sat in the passengar side. “Sorry I’m gonna get your chair all wet. Wasn’t exactly going to ask Frost for a towel.” And at that thought she made a face of disgust as she unwillingly pictured him naked again. She pinched the bridge of her nose and muttered. “I’m gonna need bleach for my brain after that.”

“Telepath.” He grinned at her and nodded. “It’s okay. I’ve gotten used to the weird.” He glanced at her and winced. “Bleach can’t help that, but I* could blur the image for you.” He offered it to her gladly. as he drove. “Where do you live? Or do you want to go elsewhere?”

"I thought that telepathy stuff only worked if I was in the same room as you," Ana replied. When he commented on her bleach statement, Ana looked over at him, mortified. "You saw that, in my head? And the answer is 'hell yeah' to blurring it!"

“I live at address. And I'd definitely like to go home, thanks." She was planning on sitting at the bar till she was too drunk to remember any of this day. "And thanks, man. I really appreciate you doin' all this."

“For many, it might. I am what’s known as a global telepath.” He nodded, and sighed. “I did , yes. And okay.” He gently reached out with his mind and blurred the images and recollection in her mind, so details were blurred and indistinct.

“There.”

He steered toward the address she had given him. “You’re welcome. It’s what I do.”

“Oh,” Ana had no idea there were real telepaths before today, let alone global ones so she just went with it. When she felt John’s presence in her mind again she did her best not to resist, and was grateful when she realized that indeed it had worked and the mental images she thought she’d need to drown out with alcohol were indeed already blurred. Not that she wouldn’t grab a few drinks anyway, but at least she wouldn’t have to grab as many. “Thanks, John, I really appreciate it. I owe you one.”

When they finally arrived, Ana had never been so happy to see her hotel. “Well, this is me.”

“You don’t owe me anything. We all go through times like this, when our powers are fresh.” He smiled softly as they pulled up outside her place. “I hope the rest of your day is much more peaceful, but if you need help, yell for me and I will come.”

Ana was surprised at his generosity; people were not that friendly where she came from back east. "Thanks, uh sure thing." She smiled and nodded a goodbye as she watched John pull away. Ana Lucia couldn't wait to get into some dry clothes and grab a vodka and tonic at the bar. Maybe she'd have even two.
