Who: Cassandra Cain and Simon aka Raven Darkholme When: Backdated: Thursday, September 26th. Late Afternoon Where: The Gym What: Cass Thinks She's Meeting a Fellow Gymnast Rating: Family Friendly Status: Complete
Cass had spent the morning strength training despite the fact that the dreams had left her stronger than she’d been before. Her shoulder might have been back to 100% and she didn’t really need to be strength training, but she didn’t want to rely solely on the abilities she got from the dreams in case they ever went away. She didn’t want to be left all weak. After all, she enjoyed sparring with Logan and being able to hold her own against him.
Finishing her workout, Cass downed some water before she started talking to her coach about the girls she was going to be meeting soon who she would start coaching. She was excited about the prospect of coaching other girls to reach their dreams like she had.
Raven approached her, waiting patiently in the guise of a handsome fellow gymnast, eager to meet the gold medal winner. If she couldn’t have Cass as a woman, well, she’d have her anyway. “Your training is looking really good. I can’t believe how you still push yourself.”
Cass hadn’t seen the guy before he’d approached her, but when he spoke, she turned towards him and smiled, “Thanks. I might not be competing again, but that doesn’t mean I’m not going to keep myself trained.” Of course the abilities she’d gotten from the dreams just improved her gymnastics abilities. So really, it wouldn’t have been fair if she’d competed again, just like how Jubilee had decided not to compete while she was a vampire.
“You don’t look like you need it.” He grinned at her, the expression a little flirty. He held out a hand. “I’m Simon.”
Cass couldn’t help but blush slightly at the compliment, “Thanks.” Normally she would have run her hand through her hair or let it fall in front of her face to hide her blush, but the long, black tresses were pulled back in a ponytail so there was no hiding the blush, “It’s nice to meet you, Simon. I’m Cass, but you probably already knew that.” She didn’t mean it in a conceited, he should have know who she was way, but the way he’d approached her felt like he already knew who she was.
The blush was adorable, and Simon’s grin only widened a little at it. He squeezed her hand, the pressure slight, but firm. When he pulled it away, it was with a caress of her knuckles. “It’s nice to actually meet you face to face. I’m a fan.”
Cass enjoyed meeting her fans, but didn’t think she’d ever met one quite so cute before. “I hope I’m what you expected.” Watching Simon, she had to try and remind herself that he was just a fan and she had awful luck with guys, so all she could do was appreciate the view, “Do you come to this gym often?”
“Yes. Every week now. It was recommended to me by my last coach. I hadn’t expected someone like you to come here.” Simon kept his grin charming and disarming, even a little bashful.
And she was blushing again, “You make it sound like I’m some big deal or something.” Okay, so maybe winning two gold medals in the Olympics was a big deal, but she certainly wasn’t at the same level of fame as some other people. “I’m still just a normal girl who just so happened to achieve her dream.”
“Humble too,” he said. He was giving her his full attention, and just on the edge of her personal space, as if asking if he could be invited in. “And pretty.”
Cass might not have been an expert on these things, but she was pretty sure that he was flirting with her. If Jubilee was there, there was no doubt in Cass’ mind that her friend would already be trying to push Cass on Simon. “Thank you. You’re too kind.” Cass was glad that Jubilee wasn’t there. After the bad luck that she had with guys, so wasn’t ready to get involved with anyone new.
He ducked his head a little, then shrugged a shoulder. “It’s the truth. You want to get lunch sometime? We could talk shop.” Simon thought that the slower approach might work better with this girl… but once he had her exactly where he wanted her…
Cass thought about declining, but what harm could lunch be with a fellow gymnast at some point? After all, it’d just be to talk gymnastics. The way her luck had gone over the last few months, he was probably gay, “Yeah. Okay. I’m here pretty much everyday at the same time, so just look for me next time you’re here and we can plan for lunch.”
“I’d like that.” He grinned at her, ducking his head. “I’ll see you around…”
“Yeah, alright.” Cass couldn’t help but smile as he walked away. It was nice to talk to a guy who had similar interests and not expect anything. At least that’s what she was telling herself. The last thing she needed was to get involved with someone else so soon after Bod had left. However, she was looking forward to lunch with Simon.
