Laura swung her legs as she licked her ice cream cone. Ginger was fetching the ball, eating the ground up in big, loping strides. He was getting to be a big dog. She smiled widely and checked her watch. Nate should be arriving soon. She couldn’t wait to see him. He was a little much sometimes, but he was a good person and she liked to spend time with him.

Nate smiled as he pulled up in Magellan, hopping out and waving at her as he headed for her. “How are you doing, Laura?” His eyes danced warmly.

“Good!” She bounced to her feet and gave him a hug. Ginger followed along, barking amiably at Nate.

Nate hugged her too, and then patted Ginger’s head and scritched behind her ears. “Hey there little lady.”

He smiled warmly. “How has the orchard been treating you?”

“Well! Done pruning the trees, now we’re wrapping them which is less fun. Still, it’s nice and the weather’s been beautiful.” She beamed at him and threw Ginger’s ball so he’d chase it again.

He glanced over as the dog ran off, then glanced at her. “Oh! I have presents!” he took out two large thermoses. “Here. This one is hot, so be careful. It contains Shi’ar coffee, made on Greymalkin. And this one is colder. It contains one hundred percent real Asgardian Ambrosia. Please be careful with that. It knocks Thor on his ass, and nothing else does.” He handed them over, and nodded.

Laura blinked, sniffing the thermoses. “Wow. That’s. . . really strong smelling. And they’re closed.” She wasn’t sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing. “Is it safe?”

“Yes. For someone who is healthy, yes. Very strong, and to be used in moderation, but safe, within that limit.”

“Okay. I’ll probably save it for later.” Laura said, still eying the drinks dubiously. She trusted Nate, but she trusted her nose too.

Nte nodded. “Thats fine.” He grinned as he watched her. Her look reminded him of some of the looks Domino had given him in the other universe. And he grinned.

“How is Jubilation?”

Laura grinned. “Oh, she’s good. Getting more vampy, but I’m okay with that. I want her to be around for a while, and she’d be tougher as a vampire.”

Nate nodded. “As long as you’re both happy.” He smiled to her. “You deserve joy, Laura.” He liked her and hoped she was never unhappy.

“I don’t know if she will be.” Laura admitted, sighing softly. “But I want her to be happy.”

Nate nodded. “If I can help, let me know, okay?” He smiled to her and poked her. Gently. “Now, have you ever been paintballing?”

“No, but I understand the idea.” Laura poked him back.

Nate grinned. “We should organize a group sometime.” Poke.

Laura rolled her eyes and crossed her arms over her chest. “Sounds like fun. Stop poking me.” She pouted playfully at him.

“Okay And fine.” He made a face at her. “We should from a crazy doing things group.”

“I thought we were going to do an oil wrestling team? It’s the same thing, right?”

“Nah. This one would do parachuting, and white water rafting and all sorts of crazy stuff.”

“Can we combine the two?” Laura asked with a laugh.

Nate considered, then grinned,. “Maybe. Not sure.”

“I just think the same people who’ll be up for one would be up for the other.” Laura noted.

“You could be right. I’ll have to ask. Does this mean you are?” He grinned at her, eyes brightening.

“I told you I would.” Laura said with a laugh. “It sounds like fun!”

“Cool! This is going to rock! Thanks, Laura.” He nodded to her. “You’re pretty awesome!”

Laura laughed. “I try. You’ll just have to be patient sometimes, the orchard can be pretty demanding.”

“I know, and that’s fine. I guess everything has its place.” He smiled, feeling pretty darn smug about life.

“So, when will I be able to kidnap you for ice cream?”

“Anytime you want, as long as you tell me a day ahead of time.” She said with a grin.
