Now, that wasn't fair, making him promise to lie to Ned by omission but he couldn't say no, either. A soft sound somewhere between sigh and frustrated grumble escaped Robert. Getting up he went to grab his pack of cigarettes from the sideboard on the far end of the room.
"Alright. Alright, I promise," he conceded as he shook a cancer stick out of the pack and opened the door to the balcony. "But, you're not staying at that motel or Ned will kill me. You can stay here until you make up your mind." He only had a dozen unused rooms anyway and the staff would love to have someone to pamper.
"Or you'll allow me to set you up at some place that's fancier than where you are now."
