"I spent a good amount of my life in Scandinavian countries." Hela grinned, "While cold is a relative term; however, onset of hypothermia is another matter entirely." She too laughed and rubbed her foot.
"Short and dirty version of it? I was exiled from the Odinsons at the behest of Odin when I was twelve to spend my school years isolated in a boarding school in Sweden-- I was not permitted to received letter or visitors-- where I worked hard at my studies, excelled in sports, finished top of my class where I was able to earn a full scholarship. Once there I decided to change my name from Hela Odinson to Halja Död and worked to pay my own way through medical school, suffered through years of surgical residency that enabled me to become a successful trauma surgeon and a member to Doctors Without Borders which allowed me to travel all over the world."
"As to why I am here? The answer is simple: Odin invited my return. One day as I was going about my business, Odin found me. I don't know how the old man did it, but he found me. Odin said he was proud of all the things I had accomplished in my time apart from the family, how I had grown into a strong and worthy woman, and wished reward my accomplishment. The promise be able to see and hold my mother again and reconnecting brothers who I haven't received a single word from in seventeen years, despite my reservations, was too tempting an offer to refuse. So Odin made a gift of my house in Lake Forest and I took a position as a medical examiner for the County to start my new life here in the States. I think that’s where we are at this point more or less, I am home."
"Thor is still the same big-hearted brother as he always was. Loki, my twin, he is...." she shook her head. "I love him, but he infuriates me endlessly."
