Natasha lay flat on her back in the living room, her abs and legs burning from her work out. She was grinning, though, and pleased with herself. She couldn’t wait to start filming her movie. Two days ago they’d aired the first of the last ten episodes of her show, next week they wrapped shooting, and the week after that...She sighed.
She wasn’t sure she was ready to say goodbye to all those people. But she was ready to say goodbye to the character.
Thor smiled as he dropped to the floor himself, having come in and shed his coat a moment before. “Hello, dear one.” He groaned as he relaxed there, kissing her ear, then snuggled close. “HOw are you?”
She rolled over onto her side, and smiled at him. “Sore. I gave myself quite the workout. I have just.. so much energy. I’m excited, and nervous about all the changes coming.”
“As you should be. Life is going to be an interesting adventure for us, for awhile. After the honeymoon, I have two plays lines up, and then my agent had some specs, for some movies, so there may be more, and a possible cop series has been asking and… well,. it’s going to be odd.” He chuckled.
“Thor, Texas Ranger?” Natasha joked. She winked, then sat up and rubbed at her shins. “It feels like you’re busier than I am.”
Thor snerked and made a face at her. “No. It just feels that way., You’re used to being the busiest of them all. Life will be adjusting some, especially with our wedding looming. “ He sat up as well and poke her.
“Oh lord, don’t remind me.” She poked him back and smirked. “I look forward to it. Making it fancy, anyway. It’s just a little nerve wracking.”
Thor smiled and hugged her, then kissed her ear, just because. One hand slid down to grope her ass lightly. “True. All of this is. But we will be able to face it all together, and that will make it okay.”
Natasha laughed, and rolled out of his grip, eyeing him playfully. “We will do well. And I can’t wait. To have a proper wedding.”
Thor smirked as he eyed her in return, feinting one way, before smirking and just sitting there for as moment. “It will be fantastic.” He nodded. “I’ll be performing Clarice’s and Illyana’s soon, and that will give me more insight.” He chuckled. “I never thought I’d be someone people would ask for that.”
“You’re Clarice’s best friend,” Natasha pointed out. “Probably the person who she’d turn to if she couldn’t turn to her lover. There’s a good thing about not having your best friend and lover be the same person. You have someone to turn to when they upset you.” She winked.
“True. And I am glad of it. And glad to have a wife who understands, and who is not the jealous type.” He smiled as one hand slid along to stroke her side.
“Oh. I get jealous,” she replied, catching his hand and kissing his palm. “I just know I can shoot anyone who tries anything if I really want to.”
He kissed hers in turn, and smiled softly. “True, and that you never, ever, have anything to worry on, for I love you and no other.” He was not sure he could love another like Natasha, who had woken his heart from a long winter.
His words warmed her heart, and Natasha smiled happily. She couldn’t imagine being with anyone else. Even though Bucky made her heart ache, it was easy enough to set aside the feelings from the other her. The other other her. She frowned.
“Thor. I’ve been dreaming again. Different, but similar to the ones we share.”
Thor nodded and then sat up more, listening. “I was afraid of that after I heard that Kitty Pryde also was dreaming new dreams. “Are they as bad, or better, than the ones you had before?”
“My youth is similar. The orphanage and fire. The Red Room. But things change a lot after that. It’s World War 2. I’m rescued by Steve and Logan. Later on there’s another man who became very close to me, and I also had a husband. I was… bad.. much longer.” She rubbed at her arm. “The things we fight make New York look small.”
He shifted to hug her as he listened. “Truly? It sounds like an even worse world than the one we have shared.” He shivered and rubbed her hair and her back. “I am sorry, my star.”
“The one...the one I think that affected me the most, I had a few weeks ago….” Her voice was a little thick with emotion. “I was leading the Avengers. And then I led them all to their deaths. You and Steve, Tony….” She shook her head. “I failed you all.”
Thor hugged her tight. “Dear lady. Sometimes, in war, people die. I do not believe this was your fault. Not in any universe.” He stroked her hair lightly.
“I was in charge. They depended on me.” She closed her eyes. “I’m not a leader. I work better on my own.”
“You could be a leader, but anyone can fail.” He hugged her close. “I fear I would do no better.”
He sighed. “I’m sorry, love. That is a heavy burden to bear.”
“I tell myself it doesn’t matter,” She said, resting her head on his shoulder. “That it’s not me. But that doesn’t make it feel any better. It doesn’t mean there’s not a nightly parade of trauma. God only knows what we’ll dream about if we ever dream of things after New York.”
Thor nodded, and listened. “Whatever happens, we share it and we face it together.” He smiled softly, wistfully. “NO matter what happened, together.”
“You’re much better at the heroic peptalks than I am,” she noted. “I’ll put you in charge of that when I do a hostile takeover of the Agency.”
“I do my best.” HE chuckled and hugged her. “It would be an interesting project, for sure.”
Then he grinned. “And I have something to show you. Something that arrived out of the dreams.”
“Oh? From the look on your face it can’t be anything too terrible. Let me guess, an asgardian china set?” Natasha got to her feet and looked down at him, perfectly serious. Almost.
“How about a 500 room house that looks like a small one bedroom apartment from outside?” Thor grinned at her, eyes dancing. “Have you ever wanted a large house?”
“Not really, too easy to get lost in,” She admitted, though she was intrigued. “What will we even do with all that space? I suppose if more extended family come calling it might be handy.”
“It’s governed by Asgardian science, and was my home in the dreams, in Asgard. If you step in and want to go to a room, that is the next room you step into, and the same is true when going from room to room.” He smiled to her. “I have no idea, but I wanted you to know it is there… behind the second linen closet door. “ He held out a key to her. “This will let you in and once you are in with this key once, it will always listen to you.” The key was of Uru, imprinted with Thor’s essence.
“Thanks.” She leaned up to kiss his cheek. She had some ideas how they could use that room, and some of them were kinky, and others practical. It would be a good place to duck into in a home invasion, for example, and launch a counter attack.
She had to think about these things, now.
Very true. And he was glad she had thought of those. He had some plans too, some kinky and some involving bending Asgardian science for new ideas.
“Want to go wander it awhile, and… test it out?” Speaking of kinky…
She looked at the time, then back at him. “We have an hour. Why don’t you show me this magic.”
Thor grinned and then rose and offered her his hand. Once up, he led the way to the linen closet door and pressed his palm to it. It opened, and revealed a larger room beyond, one decked out much like the Asgard of his dreams. He led the way in and nodded. “Welcome to a small piece of my world, beloved.” Here energy flowed everywhere, and where Thor stepped it was more powerful, so that when he touched Natasha, there was a feeling of power, and life, and pleasure.
She closed her eyes, and inhaled deeply. It was a heady feeling, and when she opened her eyes, she was more than willing to explore whatever her husband desired.
