Who: Glimmer and John When: Sometime last week What: Convo of sorts Where: Glimmer's place Warnings/Ratings: None
Glancing up at the clock, Glimmer looked at the time before turning her attention back to her computer screen. She couldn’t help but think that computers were John’s things not her’s but it wasn’t like her college books were going to buy themselves. So after having successfully spent what felt like a summer’s worth of pointless jobs and photographing kids she shut the laptop feeling at least semi-successful. She figured now she would go wait and see who got there first, John or the pizza. She was looking forward to hearing about his new business he had been conducting.
John felt a little bad about how much time he'd had to spend working on building up the business lately. He missed spending time with Glimmer and just being them for a while.
Heading into the apartment building, with flowers, he met the pizza guy on the way and paid for it before arriving at Glimmers door and knocking.
Figuring it was the pizza guy, Glimmer grabbed the wad of money she had thrown on the counter and went to answer the door. She couldn’t remember the last time John had actually knocked on the door and not just let himself in. He was as much of a permanent fixture around their apartment as much as Faye and herself these days.
“I’m coming,” she called out as she made her way to the door before pulling it open only to find John there instead. “John!” She was certainly surprised.
"Thought that might surprise you" he grinned before leaning in to steal a kiss before entering the apartment properly.
"How are you babe?" he asked, "Seems like ages since I've seen you properly" fleeting breakfasts and sleepy nights not withstanding.
Glimmer gave him a smile before returning the kiss and nodding at his words, “Well you certainly did that. Not to mention you have to food too so perfect timing,” she teased lightly as she helped relieve him of the things he was carrying. “Means business is good, right?”
"Should have known the food might catch your attention more than your boyfriend" he teased, wrapping an arm around her waist to steal another kiss before letting her go and heading into the kitchen with her. "Business is great" he nodded, "It's taken off much quicker than I thought it would"
“What can I say? I like to eat,” she teased with a laugh. After years of living in a home with other children and fighting over food it was nice to her to actually not have to worry about her next meal. Not have to worry about what vendor at the market she could nab food off of and they would be likely not to notice. “That’s a good thing right?”
“Which is a good thing in my books” John assured her, he loved food too and was looking forward to taking her out to more interesting places so they could try new things together.
“It is” John said as he grabbed trays, plates and glasses from the cupboards, “I’m just sorry it’s taking up so much of my time but we’re still going away before your classes start right?”
Glimmer nodded not really minding much. Sure she missed him like crazy but she also wanted him to be successful too on the flip side. It was just about finding a balance that worked for them. “Of course, where do you want to go this time?”
They definitely needed to find a balance because while Glimmer was understanding and didn’t mind, he did. He cared for her too much to let his work take over. “I have an idea” he smiled, “Do you trust me?”
“Yes, I do trust you.” She gave him a questioning look wondering just what it was that he was thinking. “Do I at least get a hint? You know just in case?”
John shook his head, “Nope. It’ll be a complete surprise. I’ll tell Faye, she can help you pack some things” he smiled, liking the idea of surprising her.
She gave him a look of disbelief, “That’s evil of you John. You better hope Faye can keep a secret.” Glimmer told him knowing that she would at least try to get a detail or two from her sister if she could manage it.
“Oh I’m sure she’ll be fine” he told her with a grin, “It’ll be a good surprise, I promise you” he told her, loading the food onto plates for them.
Glimmer gave him a look knowing she would have to trust him but it didn’t stop her from wondering what the surprise was. “Alright alright, I’ll wait. Happy now?” She told him with a grin knowing she would just have to wait and that she wouldn’t bug her sister too much about what it was.
“Very” he said smirking slightly before placing a kiss onto her lips, “Come on, let’s go eat. Then we can move onto more interesting activities” he added waggling his eyebrows at her in a very un-sexy way but one that he knew would make her laugh.
She laughed and let the surprise thing drop for the time being. It had been too long since they had had time together so she was going to enjoy it. “More interesting activities, huh?” She said raising an eyebrow. “I say you have me intrigued now.”
“I know you have an awesome imagination” he told her, “I’m sure you can think of some activities we could do to while away the afternoon” He sat down on the sofa motioning for her to join him.
Glimmer dropped onto the couch by her boyfriend. “I do but you might not always like what’s in my head,” she teased knowing that wasn’t the truth. “Besides it’s not like we won’t have plenty of time to entertain ourselves while away or here eating pizza.”
“Statements like that just make me want to know what’s going on in that beautiful head” he told her, “Oh we have plenty of time” he agreed before taking a bite of pizza.
"You mean you cannot read my mind yet?" She told him with a laugh. If anyone would be able to do such a thing she figured it would be John or Faye. They were the only two that knew her well enough to know what she was thinking. Instead she helped herself to a slice of pizza.
“To an extent but you can still surprise me sometimes” he grinned at her, eyes twinkling.
“Well, I wouldn’t want you to be bored John,” Glimmer told him with a laugh as she finished up her pizza and soda. “My sister tells me I should always keep you guessing.” She joked with a laugh.
“I could never be bored with you around” John assured her, “What else has your sister been telling you?” he asked with a mock worried look on his face.
“Faye is a wealth of sisterly advice,” she told him with a laugh and a grin. “All of which you are not privy to because otherwise it would not be a secret. She tells me the secret of life you know…” She joked with a laugh.
“Damn and here I was hoping to get tips too” he grinned before laughing, “You know what, I could well believe it. If anybody knows it, then she does”
"Nah, you have to learn by trial and error. I am not very good at sharing my sister," she told him in a teasing tone. "You can say that again though I am not sure there is one really."
John chuckled, “Fair enough. I’m sure Faye appreciates that” he teased in response, “Probably not. But then that’s what makes it so interesting. Or something like that”
Glimmer nodded in agreement. “Only knowing her she would be more than happy to pass on her wise words of wisdom. Or something like that…” She said with a laugh. “We should go on another trip one of these weekends.”
John maneuvered her into his arms, “Any place special you want to go?” he asked her, nuzzling her neck as he stroked his hands over her body where they rested.
"Just some where different," that was kind of a broad answer but it was the truth. They had spent a couple weeks exploring California so maybe it was time to do something different. "Maybe head north a bit? Have a passport?"
John nodded, “I have a passport” he told her, he’d needed one the amount his mom had moved them around. “North sounds good, just hop on the bike and see how far we can get?” he suggested.
Glimmer thought about that a moment. “I say that sounds like a good plan. I hear Seattle and the like are beautiful this time of year and the red woods in Oregon are too.” There were a few things they could see out of California and Canada wasn’t too awful far either.
“Fine by me” John said kissing the top of her head, “Bet you’ll get some awesome shots in and around the redwoods too”
“They would make awesome subjects,” Glimmer had to agree on that bit. “Doesn’t help either that one of my other favorite subjects will be there too.” She told him with a grin.
John laughed, “The tree’s are much more photogenic” he told her placing a kiss on her grinning lips.
“That’s what you think,” she told him with a laugh as she returned the kiss. “A good photographer can make anyone look good.”
“Ah now I see” he teased, “You like the challenge”
“Perhaps maybe I do John,” she told him with a grin.
“Works for me” John replied, “pretty sure I present you with a big challenge most of the time” he winked with a smirk.
“Then it is a challenge I will gladly accept then,” she told him with an affirmative nod of her head.
