Jeremy wasn’t really sure why he’d done it. It wasn’t like he’d needed the keychain or couldn’t have paid for it, but part of him had wanted to see if he could get away with it. And he’d found out that no. No, he couldn’t get away with it. He hadn’t noticed the guy who had been watching him until he’d grabbed Jeremy’s arm and by then there was no way to explain away what he’d been doing. Stiles had gone to find Elena while Myrcella had gone with Jeremy even though he’d told her to go with Stiles. He didn’t want to see the disappointed look she was bound to give him. Jeremy and Myrcella had been let to a room in the back of the gift shop then left there while the manager went to get someone else.

Myrcella wasn’t scared, like she’d always imagined she would be, she was just worried. It wasn’t like Jeremy to behave like this. Even Stiles had been shocked. She’d refused to leave him even when he’d told her to and she’d stood up to the manager too when he’d told her she couldn’t stay. “Why did you do it Jeremy?” she asked him softly, suspecting he didn’t know himself but wanting to encourage him to talk to her.

Staring down at the floor from the chair he had been told to sit in, Jeremy shook his head, “I don’t know.” He didn’t want to look up. He didn’t know what he’d do if Myrcella gave him that disappointed look. He could hear it in her voice and knew that he’d probably just screwed up any chance of ever being more than friends with her.

Myrcella was a little disappointed but she was more worried about him. She moved her hand to take his, twining their fingers and giving him a reassuring squeeze, “It’ll be okay, maybe we can tell them it was a silly dare or something?” she suggested not wanting him to get into too much trouble.

Jeremy looked up, surprised, when Myrcella took his hand, not having expected her to want to be anywhere near him, but then again, she had been the one to volunteer to go with him while Stiles went to get Elena, “Yeah, I don’t think that’s going to fly. Especially not with my aunt and uncle.” He was already dreading that conversation and hoped that they didn’t talk to him at the same time. Jenna he could deal with pretty easily; she had been a rebellious teenager herself once, but Ric was another story altogether.

“Have you talked to them?” she asked him, kind eyes watching his face, “About your parents” she added. It had taken him a lot to talk to her the night he’d ended up at her door so she wouldn’t be surprised if he hadn’t, she did think it would help him though. Bottling things up rarely ended well.

Jeremy shook his head, “No. My aunt was my mom’s sister and I don’t really want to listen to her telling me that she knows how I feel, cause she doesn’t. No one does.” No one would ever understand what it was like to see his parents like that. Yes, they had all lost them, but Elena, Katherine, Jenna and Ric hadn’t seen them there, sprawled out where they’d died, in pools of blood. He squeezed his eyes closed to try and rid himself of that image again.

Myrcella rubbed her thumb over his knuckles, “I’m sorry” she told him, “But I think you need to talk to somebody Jeremy, you can’t keep it all bottled up. It might help to let it out” It didn’t have to be family, maybe for Jeremy it would be better if it was a stranger. Someone who wouldn’t try to empathise as closely.

Jeremy sighed, not really wanting to have this conversation right now. He knew he was messed up right now, but the last thing he wanted was to have someone analyze him and tell him what he already knew; seeing his parents like that had traumatized him. It wasn’t news. He just had to figure out how to deal with it. “Who am I supposed to talk to?”

“There are grief counsellors, maybe somebody like that” she suggested, “They might be able to help you find ways to deal with everything you’re going through” She didn’t want to see him end up getting into trouble like today.

“Maybe.” If he talked to someone like that, he wouldn’t want Jenna or Ric to know, but since he was still underage, he didn’t see any way around it. “I just don’t want to be analyzed or looked at like I’m crazy.” Considering Jeremy hadn’t wanted to talk, he was doing a lot of it with Myrcella.

Myrcella squeezed his hand, “Not all counsellors analyze you, they might just be able to show you some coping strategies, things you might not have ever thought about. You aren’t crazy, they’d never think that”

“Thanks, Myrcella.” Jeremy dropped his gaze to their hands and squeezed her hand back. He was still worried about what she thought of him now, but he was glad that she had stuck with him when she could have abandoned him after what had happened with her mother. Speaking of her mother, he hoped that she didn’t find out about this incident.

“That’s okay” she said quietly with a gentle smile, “I can’t imagine how hard this all is for you but I’m here whenever you need me” Myrcella didn’t think any less of Jeremy thanks to this incident, he was going through something incredibly traumatic there were bound to be some behavioural fall out from it.

Jeremy was about to respond when the door opened and in walked a security guard as well as the man who had caught him and another man, who was probably the manager of the amusement park; or at least whoever was in charge today. Jeremy hoped that they wouldn’t ask Myrcella to leave, but he knew that they were going to make him give up the number of a parent or guardian and as soon as Jenna showed up that was when Myrcella would have to go. Why Jeremy had decided to do this was beyond him, but now he had to deal with the consequences.
