Alice had done a bit of shopping during the last few days. She figured that Raven had forgotten her little idea about going out with some accessories as soon as she’d said it, but Alice hadn’t. She liked subversive elements like that - she didn’t expect it to do anything but shock people, but well, people’s minds had been jump-started by shock value before.
She’d showed up at Raven’s doorstep uninvited, but the worst she could do, after all, was turn Alice away. She rang the doorbell, curious as to what might happen.
Raven glanced at the window, and then wondered if she should answer as herself or someone else. She was reluctant to let the other woman in quite that close, so she answered with a smile. “What do I owe the pleasure?”
“Hello, dear.” Alice came in, holding up the bag. “I brought you a small present. I thought you might enjoy it.” She handed the bag over, but didn’t walk any further into the house. She had no reason to push Raven’s boundaries right now, so she simply didn’t.
She peeked into the bag and her eyebrows went way up. “Good thing my schedule is clear. You really do want to take me up on that offer.”
“Of course. I also don’t see the point of proposing something like that and not considering it.” Alice shrugged. Raven tended to speak just for the sake of speaking at times, and it was silly. At least she did it less often than most others.
“Come in. Unless you want me to shove one down your panties on the porch,” Raven said, smiling a little too smugly.
“I don’t think you’re that gauche.” Alice came inside, closing the door and going to kiss the other woman in a surprisingly gentle fashion. “Are you well?”
“But it would amuse me,” she replied, the kiss catching her off guard. She rested her palm on Alice’s lower back as they kissed. She found her voice. “I’m better than ever.”
“Good.” Alice felt Raven’s flinch, and she laughed. “I haven’t gone soft, I assure you; I’m just in a perfectly lovely mood.”
“I think I like it.” Raven smiled. She trailed her finger down the woman’s throat.
“I like being subversive. And I’ve met a man in my office that I think I can get some use out of.” She wasn’t entirely sure what this was between her and Raven, but she’d never lose her taste for men. “He’s a criminology student. But he believes that all female murderers are driven by either mental illness or greed.” It put her in a good mood because as soon as that little gem had passed the man’s lips, Alice had known she’d have to educate him. Personally.
“Mm.” Raven didn’t mind a man at all, but she didn’t know how she felt about it. And the thought that it bothered her, bothered her. She did have a solution but that would reveal her secret.
“Really? What about male murderers, are they somehow more pure or motivated by something else entirely?” Raven rolled her eyes.
“Allegedly male murderers are motivated by bloodlust, while females are motivated by more quotidien things like greed or jealousy.” Alice rolled her eyes. “It upsets me when people are so ignorant.”
“I would have thought it would have been something like lady hormones. Our parts are so mysterious. I hope someone teaches that fucker a lesson.” She flashed a grin.
“I’m sure they will.” Alice said innocently. “But yes. Lovely mood, for once.” And it made her happy to think of the pleasures that awaited her.
Raven patted two fingers on Alice’s lips. “I call the blue one. You made a good choice. Easy to palm the remotes discreetly.” She was looking forward to this game. Even to relinquishing control.
They were the same except for colour, so that was fine with Alice. “Green for me, then. I avoided the pink on principle.” Neither of them were ever going to be ‘pink’ women.
“That might have been grounds for violence,” Raven replied. She wrinkled her nose. “Blue is a much better color. White nice too.” She liked blue on everything but her.
“As you might have guessed, I prefer darker colors. My hair keeps me from chiaroscuro.” Alice smiled.
Raven grinned. “It just so happens I have a season pass to several amusement parks. Perks of the job.”
“How convenient.” Alice laughed. “You have so much going for you, dear.”
“You have no idea. And maybe if you’re lucky, I’ll share my true face with you.” She smiled, and disappeared into another room to get ready.
Alice wasn’t entirely certain what that meant, but she figured she might find out later. In the meantime, she waited for Raven to reappear, curious as to what she would choose to wear.
She came out, wearing a short white skirt with a matching blouse that had strategically opened buttons. She posed. “How do I Look?”
“Elegant.” Alice smiled. “Totally above reproach.” Which would be important, out in public.
“In other words, perfect.” She held the remote out to Alice. “All yours.” There was a lot of loaded meaning behind those words. Or there could be from just about anyone else. Today, though she was placing her trust in Alice, just as Alice placed trust into Raven’s hands.
It was going to be fun, and a little nervewracking at first.
Alice came over with the small vibrator she’d purchased, resting one arm around Raven’s neck, going for a kiss. When Raven responded, Alice used her other hand to reach up Raven’s skirt. Why not take the opportunity to feel her up a bit as well as get everything set up?
Raven groaned softly, sliding her hands down Alice’s back. She was more than happy to return the favor, and for pretty much the same reasons. Getting a ‘straight’ girl to react this way was always a turn on.
Alice would dispute the ‘straight’ label; it was an outdated construct. She just liked sex. And Raven did have very nice, careful hands.
The red-head spent a little too long adjusting things between Alice’s legs, before she pulled away. She had a devilish, almost feral grin on her face and licked her lips.
Alice smiled, closing her eyes and enjoying herself. “Shall we?” she murmured, shifting her hips just barely into Raven’s hand. They had best be off; this was peak queueing time. The longer the lines, the more people to shock.
Saving the best part for when they were in public, Raven slipped Alice’s remote into her purse and then took her arm. “Oh lets.” She didn’t even touch the remote until they were firmly stuck in line, and then she queued up a single, solitary and light buzz.
Raven was a perfect lady until they’d arrived at the park, and were queueing to get in. Alice had been about to ask a question, but then she’d felt the buzz and sighed visibly. “Ohhh.”
"Mm?" Raven looked over at Alice, the most innocent of expressions on her face. "Are you all right?"
“Oh, fine.” She didn’t want to draw attention to herself just yet.
“I see.” Raven paid for Alice’s ticket, after showing her own pass. She took the woman’s hand, figuring it might make some people frown at them. They were going to put on a show, and she was going to enjoy it.
Damn the homophobic and their consequences. One couple in particular seemed to be giving them the proverbial stink-eye, and as they settled against a tree, Alice pressed the button for Raven’s remote once, firmly, but not making it last too long.
Raven actually gasped out loud, but to her credit, she recovered quickly. She gave Alice a look, and chuckled. “This is going to be a really fun date.”
“I think you might be right.” Alice said innocently. The couple audibly gasped as Alice kissed Raven’s cheek lightly. “Where to first?”
She turned and kissed Alice on the mouth. “That ride there. It’s just family friendly enough to be really, really fun.“
Alice laughed, pressing the button as she returned the kiss, amused by the murmuring she could begin to hear around them. “All right. Lead on, my dear.” She got off on causing comment, as she was sure Raven could tell.
With a laugh, Raven led Alice at a leisurely pace towards the ride. As they passed a group of old ladies, she pressed the button for a full minute.
Alice yelped, which turned into a cough, which turned into laughter. “Oh, you’re naughty.” A cliche word, maybe, but there wasn’t another that seemed to fit as well. She’d never been allowed to be very naughty at home. It was probably why she wanted to now.
“Spank me later,” She said, just loud enough for a nun. She tried to not burst out laughing at there being a nun. That was just too perfect. “You know I had one of those once.”
“One of what, a spanking?” Alice laughed. “I’m sure you deserved it.” She wanted to do the same things she normally did with relationships - to assert dominance, to find out everything she could about Raven and then make her love her. But she was proving damnably difficult to investigate, so Alice would have to resort to more hands on methods.
“A nun. A spanking too. At the same time, actually.” She grinned at her, and then sat daintily on a teacup. She patted the seat next to her.
“Horrid.” Alice laughed. The teacups were close together, and Alice pressed the remote once more as she sat down, hoping Raven would let out a noise the whole ride could hear.
There was a noise. It was high pitched enough to have several people look in their direction, and Raven gave Alice such a look. And such a huge grin. “Nice one.”
Alice just smiled sweetly, kissing her cheek again. Shocking the homophobic was an extra perk. “Today is about doing pleasurable things,” she said. The choice of words might have been deliberate.
On the word ‘things’ Raven thumbed the trigger for a brief second. Then again, and she alternated it like a pulse.
“Oh!” It came out breathy, and it made her laugh, feeling the adrenaline bubble up. “Oh, that’s nice.” She smirked when she caught the eye of a shocked-looking woman with a young son. “You really do give it to me so nicely.”
Raven laughed. She leaned forward, letting go of the trigger and batting her eyelashes. “I’m not sure you said that loud enough.”
“You give it to me good.” Alice said, with bedroom eyes. She heard a faint choking sound from behind her and had to bite her lip not to laugh.
“I almost want to keep you, but that would be a crime,” Raven said, with all the air of someone who knew what crime was. “So I’ll have to settle for fucking you until you scream. You hate to lose control.”
“So do you, darling.” Maybe she was laying it on a bit thick, but she spoke the truth at its core.
“Don’t you dare insinuate that I’m a control freak,” Raven responded, with mock indignation. She hit the button for emphasis.
Alice was able to stop her yelp that time. “Oh, of course not.” That was the issue; they were both control freaks, in common parlance. “Perish the thought.” Sarcastic? Maybe.
“Mm.” Raven gave her a long, considering look. “Keep that up and I might have to show you a secret.”
“Is that so?” Alice smiled at her - for once, with genuine feeling. Honesty needed to be rewarded. The ride began to whir into motion, and she resolved to wait until the full swing of things before pressing the button again.
Raven was starting to relax as the ride moved. It wasn’t the most thrilling ride, but it was kind of fun and made her think about the parts of her life she’d never really gotten to experience. She’d been twenty-five when she’d first gone on a carnival ride. Life was for having fun.
Alice saw her relax; her shoulders visibly loosened, her face grew quiescent. It was rather pretty, in truth; she couldn’t remember the last time she was able to relax like that. She couldn’t entirely be herself around Raven - there was always that lingering fear. She couldn’t help but feel a pinprick of jealousy - and it made her jam down on the remote button.
A shout echoed across the teacups, and Raven shuddered for a few seconds before she got herself under control. She could have cheated - she was technically naked as it was and could easily make her parts disappear, but that wasn’t very fun. She rolled her head and gave Alice a stubborn sigh.
Alice liked her more for her reaction to that. She kissed Raven’s cheek as the ride moved more, smiling at the shrieks around them.
Raven wondered if the button was stuck as she tried to pretend nothing was happening, she set Alice to max power and thumbed the remote. She smiled sweetly.
Alice let go of the button when Raven hit hers; she couldn’t help but shriek. It bordered on the absurd, thinking of coming while on a bloody teacup ride, but it definitely would be something to remember.
Laughter bubbled up out of Raven. It was uncontrollable and sudden and felt really good. She had an innocent grin on her face as she pulsed the toy.
Alice grit her teeth, but had to be amused herself. “You are horrid,” she breathed, but there was laughter in her eyes.
“You love it,” Raven replied, her breath hitched and voice shaking. She couldn’t help the way her hips kept trying to move against the vibrations. She seemed intent on pushing Alice right over the edge.
Until she suddenly let go of the button, right when she thought Alice was closest.
She’d pay for it later, but Alice threw her head back and lost control. She squeaked, then whimpered loudly, breathing hard.
Raven clucked her tongue. "You weren't supposed to do that. I'll think up a suitable punishment. Later." She sounded a little breathless.
The ride creaked to a stop. “Good heavens.” Alice sighed, looking over at Raven. “I admit defeat, I’ll accept punishment.” So be it.
She grinned at her sometimes lover, and batted her eyelashes. “You’ll enjoy it. I promise.”
“I’ll trust you on that.” Alice debated getting up, but decided against it. “They can bloody wait for me to get up. That was rather good.”
“Lets go again,” Raven said, playfully buzzing for a second, before she put her arm around Alice and leaned against her.
Alice winced from oversensation, but she did have a weapon, of course. “I’m game if you are.”
“I meant the teacups.” Her voice was a low, hungry purr in Alice’s ear, that betrayed her words for the lie they were.
Alice laughed. “Bullshit.”
“Oops. I lied.” She rolled her head back and laughed. “Oh my god why haven’t they thrown us out yet?”
“I’m sure they will soon.” Alice laughed a little more calmly. “It’s a pity neither of us have any powers, like some in this county allegedly have.” If they could teleport home, that would have been nice.
As it was, she got up, legs wobbly, as she saw the ride operator coming over. “Let’s at least go somewhere else, dear. No need to make this gentleman be uncouth.”
“Uncouth. You just said uncouth. That’s like something out of my first few dreams.” She got up as well, taking Alice’s hand but letting her lead.
“It’s a perfectly fine word.” Alice sounded amused, gently pulling Raven away from the ride and down toward a row of shops which surely had back alleys.
“It’s because you’re British.” She dropped the remote into her purse, and shifted her pace to keep up.
“My apologies.” Alice smiled, turning back into what looked like a receiving area. She kissed Raven as hard as she dared, sighing. “I’m sorry, I needed that.”
Raven’s nails dug into the back of Alice’s neck as they kissed. “Mm, yeah? It’s fun to be detached, but it feels better with that.”
“We’re alive,” Alice murmured into Raven’s mouth, feeling a giddy surge of adrenaline. They were free and alive and no one was able to do anything about it.
“We’re alive,” Raven agreed, feeling something strange shift inside her. Alice made her miss someone she’d never even known outside the dreams. “I know we have to be very careful with who we trust. But I want to show you something.”
“You mentioned something like that earlier.” Alice looked up at her. “For what it’s worth, you’re interesting.” Interesting people needed to be kept alive and even cultivated.
Raven looked around, and when she looked back at Alice, it was as though her skin rippled and flowed, and another person was looking back. He was an exact duplicate of a frowny old man who had given them the stink eye. She rippled again, and Alice was looking in a mirror. Another ripple, and Raven was her dream self. Blue skin and yellow eyes, with a wicked, toothy grin. And then she was the Raven that Alice knew.
Alice had long since thought she had lost the capacity to be surprised, but that did do it. “My goodness.” She finally managed, still sounding calm and average, but her eyes belied her voice’s relaxation. “How very impressive. And handy, I imagine.”
“It’s very useful. And I can hold a shape as long as I need to, and pass any biometric scan.” She smirked. “Fingerprints, retina, even DNA.”
“Really!” This was indeed interesting information - she appreciated how honest Raven would have to be to share this with her, but at the same time, it did mean that Alice might have to be a bit more on her guard about who she spoke to. Anyone could, in theory, be Raven in disguise.
It would put Alice on guard everywhere, which would be amusing to Raven. “There’s a great deal of potential here. Especially as anyone who might know I can do this has yet to recognize me.” Logan was a high concern, as was Remy and a few others who might.
“Really.” That posed more than a few questions. “There are people here from your dreamscape? How could they not recognize you?”
She shifted again, her skin blue, lips and hair so, so red, and eyes glowing yellow. “This is what I’ve always looked like to them. I turned into this when I hit puberty. The nature of my powers means I heal faster, and live longer. I’ve dreamed of the revolution, the Civil War, the Old West and both World Wars. You know Mata Hari?” She smirked, shifting into Mata Hari.
“Fascinating.” She wasn’t even being patronizing; she meant it. “That’s amazing.” And yet how exhausting that could be. “Are you ... can you die?”
“Wouldn’t you like to know?” Raven replied, shifting back into her normal form. She could take shapes. So many shapes. “Maybe some day. I’m not as talented as Logan is with that.” She wrinkled her nose. “If I could fool that bloodhound’s nose, I’d fuck with him daily.”
“I don’t know who that is. Someone from your dreams?” Alice folded her arms, curious all the more now.
“Yes. Short man, hairy, has claws in his hands. Really kind of grumpy a lot of the time but fucking amazing in the sack.” She purred, shifting into him. “Hey darlin’.”
Oh, good lord. Alice rolled her eyes. “Let me guess. Despite the hair, he thinks he can get a woman to bed him just by looking.” First of all, short and hairy wasn’t her type, and second, she disliked the cocksure.
“Strange part is he manages to succeed half the time,” Raven replied, in Logan’s gruff voice. “He’s a dick.”
“He must have some sort of power.” Alice sighed. “Either that, or he meets masochistic women.”
“Hey. I’m not masochistic.” Raven laughed, and returned to the Raven Alice knew. “God, that’s fun. It feels so natural to just be fluid. Staying in one shape, it’s torture.”
“Well.” Alice said, cocking her head to one side. “If you ever need to, you should feel free to shift shape around me. That is, don’t allow my presence to constrict you.” She wanted the exact opposite, really; she wanted to see just how interesting this woman could be.
"That's one reason I wanted to share. And the other reason is." She pulled Alice against her, lips warm against her neck. "I can be anyone you want. Any man, any woman, any fantasy you've ever had."
Mm. “You’re being very kind to me,” Alice murmured with a wicked smile.
“Then I’ll have to make up for that,” Raven replied. “I’m sure you don’t mind.”
