"Oh, It's no trouble."
Who: Marian Hawke, Lara Croft
What: Marian hits on Lara, surprise surprise.
When: Saturday.
Where: At the Gym!
Ratings/Warnings: PG-13 for mentions of showers and nakedness.
Status: Complete!
The showers were Marian's favorite part of going to the gym. Not just because of all the gorgeously toned women that hung around in them, either. A hot shower always felt fantastic after a great workout, and today had been a brutal one.
One thing she'd learned from her brother was that a private eye always had to stay in shape and practice her shooting. You never knew just when a boring case was going to become interesting, after all.
She'd just finished up and begun toweling off when she noticed the woman sitting on the bench beside her. The pendant around her neck looked like it was about to fall off, "That doesn't appear to be tied very tightly, you might want to fix that."
Lara had been distracted by a scrape on her knee. She looked up, startled. She hadn’t even noticed there was a very attractive woman looking at her. “Oh. Thanks, I hadn’t noticed. It must have loosened while I was exercising.” She adjusted the towel around her tighter.
Marian's eyes caught the motion and she smirked a bit. Was the woman next to her afraid of wandering eyes? Well, her eyes had already done all the wandering she needed to, so Lara was safe enough for now. She reached out one of her own hands towards Lara, "I can adjust it if you like. You must need those two hands of yours to keep your towel around you, and I'd hate for you to end up dropping it on the floor."
The british woman’s mouth opened and closed, then she let out a little sigh and nodded her head. “All right, then. Though it’s really not a bother, it’s just a body right?”
"Just a body, yes, though if you really do believe that I'm not sure why you're clutching onto your towel quite so tightly," Marian teased. She scooched herself closer to Lara, then reached her hands over to fix the necklace. It was a simple matter of re-tying the knot that had already been put into place.
She gave it a pat when she was done, "Done and done. And you're quite welcome."
"Thank you." Lara had leaned away a little bit, though it was less from 'eew cooties' and more that she was uncomfortable with the proximity of a woman who was even less clothed than she was. It wasn't like Sam, who walked in on her on a regular basis. This was a stranger. Who smelled really, really nice. Breathe, Lara. Breathe.
"Oh, It's no trouble. I always dream about women's necklaces going loose in the showers so that I can get my little lady mitts all over them legitimately," Marian joked. She waited to see if Lara ran for the hills screaming.
Was she flirting with her? Lara was pretty sure she was being flirted with and she didn’t know what to do. How was she supposed to react to this. It took her a little too long to answer. “And what about the women without necklaces, then?”
What the hell just came out of her mouth?
"Hmm... well, I'll have to wait until I run into you sometime when you aren't wearing one, then, and see how creative I can get."
Marian winked at Lara, then turned her attention back to drying herself off. Her workout had made her achy and starving and tired, and while she loved flirting with unsuspecting passersby, she also really wanted a snack.
And the shower had made Marian’s skin damp, and there was a sheen to it and a little rivulet running down the side of her neck that made Lara extremely uncomfortable. She shifted and looked at her clothing to determine the safest way to dress. “Something tells me that won’t be difficult for you.”
"More difficult than you might think," Marian replied, her voice muffled from behind the towel she was using on her hair. There was a pause, and the smirk on her face was almost audible, "But probably not that difficult, no."
“Oh, good one,” Lara replied, bending over to snatch for her bra. If she could get her knickers on she’d feel a little less vulnerable. And that way she didn’t have to look at Marian’s abs. Who had abs like that, really?!
Apparently, Marian did. She liked feeling fit and capable. That probably wouldn't have changed even if she was working a real desk job.
She got up off the bench she'd been sitting on and reached into her locker for her bag, retrieving clean underthings. They were a very not boring shade of red, overlaid with some sort of red and orange glittery mesh, and Marian appeared to have zero shame about showing them off.
"Thank you, I do try to make an effort."
Lara stared openly for a moment, then busied herself with dressing as quickly as she could without fumbling with herself. They reminded her of the sort of knickers Sam wore, only Sam had different taste in colour.
She decided she absolutely didn’t need to be thinking about Sam’s underthings right now. Or anyone’s. Dani would look good in that.
Shit.
"Never seen a girl in red sparkly knickers before?" Marian joked. The way Lara kept staring at her made her very happy with herself. Her radar was working just as well as she'd thought it was, but it was clear that Lara was still at least semi-oblivious.
Or in that open-faced panic stage.
Marian sometimes wished she had the gift of telepathy.
She pulled her trousers on, then pulled on a tank top, "I thought I'd get a bit of a pick me up over at the cantina here. Interested in a bite?"
“I uhm…” Lara trailed off. “Well I suppose I need to get out more anyway.” She stood and pulled her shirt down over her own slightly impressive abs, “I’m interested. In a bit. Of food.” She wanted to facepalm. Or at least stop blushing.
"Oh, just a little bite. Of food." Marian shook her head at Lara and grinned, "Right, then. Let's go on and get a little bite. Of food. And a drink. I'm desperate for some coffee."
“Coffee is good!” Lara smiled at her. It was just coffee. No harm in that.
