Who: Fred, George and Tonks What: Catch up When: After Tonks returns from her honeymoon Where: Fred and George’s place Rating: Low/None Status: Complete
Tonks had arranged to spend the day with the twins so she could have a proper catch up with them. She hadn’t seen them since returning from her honeymoon and wanted to see how they were. She also wanted to talk to them about Theo who had accompanied them to the wedding.
She arrived at their place and knocked on the door, she’d left it up to them to chose what they were doing. She was happy to stay at their place if they wanted, after all they had left the shop in order to spend the day with her which she was grateful for.
Staying at home wasn’t quite like leaving the shop behind, since they only lived upstairs from it anyway -- but they didn’t mind just sitting around, not at all. In fact, they’d planned for it -- buying little snacks and some proper alcohol for the day. Okay, they hadn’t bought the wine, that was Theo’s, but same difference.
One opened up the door, glad Tonks had knocked on the back entrance and not gone through the shop. “Hey, woman! C’mon in!”
She knew better than to walk through the shop by now, “Hey” she said as she entered their place, “How are you doing?” she asked as she hugged him.
He hugged back. No, he wasn’t even sure which one he was. Just kidding. He knew. But he wasn’t telling.
“Ace. Brilliant. Amazing.” He grinned.
The other twin popped out of nowhere, or possibly just the other room. “Blackberry or strawberry wine?” That one was George. Just saying.
“Ooo both sound amazing. Umm strawberry?” she replied, shrugging out of her jacket and hanging it up. She had assumed it was Fred who answered the door but she was much more cautious now after they had confused her during the bodyswap incident.
That bodyswapping incident had been a very fun experience for the twins -- their ability to dupe people was now doubled. Or redoubled, considering.
George only hummed agreement and poured some wine for the three of them before gesturing that Tonks should have a seat on the couch -- the twins plopping down on either side so she could sit in the middle.
“Sooo, how’s it been?”
“Pretty amazing” she said looking between them, “I highly recommend married life, it’s worth it for the honeymoon alone” she added with a wink and a grin.
“We can’t get married,” Fred said, rolling his eyes in a way that was clearly dramatic before very pointedly squishing into her side in a cuddle.
“But we could go on a Holiday. Would that count?” George: ever so practical.
“Poor Freddie” Tonks said hugging him, “There really should be a special rule for you guys” she added before pulling George into her other side, “Now that’s looking on the bright side George, and I think that could totally count. Bet Theo would love it too”
Yeah, but that’d be a pretty weird special rule, and the twins couldn’t see it happening even under protest. Not that they were bothered. Marriage wasn’t in the cards, and Theo’d been there done that already.
The boys both pursed their lips at her and leaned a little closer. “You think so?” asked one.
“You been talking to her?” Asked the other.
It wouldn’t happen but Tonks was married now and she wanted everybody to be as happy as she was. It’d wear off and she’d realise they could be happy as they were.
“I do think so and I might have spoken to her” she grinned, “She’s lovely. You boys have great taste”
“Of course we do,” they both said at once, and looked equally smug. How could they not? Theo was --- well. Perfect.
“She’s brilliant, you know.” George said.
“What’ve you lot been gossiping about?” Fred demanded.
“She is, I like her. We’ll be good friends I think” Tonks told them smiling, “What do you think?” she said, winking at Fred.
The twins wrinkled their noses and George opted to sip on his wine instead of saying anything that could be held against him later.
Fred did no such thing. “Private business is private. Unless it’s good things. In which case, yes, we are amazing in bed.”
Tonks laughed, “As if she would betray you like that” she admonished, “Of course it was good things, I believe the word ‘awesome’ may have been used once or twice”
Well it would have to be used twice, right? Because there were two of them. Twin logic right there for you. “Rightly so,” George nodded.
“We’ve practically moved in with her, y’know. Magically.”
“Really?” Tonks smiled brightly, “That’s wonderful. Oh I’m so glad you’re all happy. So when do Mac and I get invited to meet her officially?”
“Yeah. Complex magic. We’ll show you in a bit. It’s like bloody Narnia.” Fred seemed entirely too proud. Which he should have been.
“Oh,” George said, thinking. “Is that something we have to do? Officiate?”
“Oh, I thought you meant like making things float or something. Narnia sounds exciting.” she said, “Less officiate and more like let’s have a meal and drinks together one evening”
“Nah. Connecting magics, right? Open one door, end up at Theo’s. It’s right brilliant. Good on space, even if we did have to give up a closet each.” Fred shrugged, polished off his glass of wine.
“We can do that. Dinner and drinks. We’ll ask Theo when she’s free -- you do the same with your Mister.”
Tonks nodded, “I remember that, like a vanishing cabinet” she said, “Must be serious, giving up closet space” she teased them.
“Will do, drop me a text and I’ll do the same”
“Closet space is a hot commodity,” Fred said, defensively. But it was exactly like she said -- like a vanishing cabinet. Not exactly beginners magic, that was for sure.
“Of course we will,” George agreed, and then went to grab the rest of the wine from the kitchen. “Now drink up, we’ve gotta achieve hangover status before tomorrow.”
