“So that’s the current schedule for this week” Billy finished with a smile having just finished going through her meetings and to do list for the next week. “Is there anything else you need me to do?” he asked, pen poised over a notebook full of notes and random doodle drawings.
“I can’t think of anything.” Zelda felt exhausted just talking to Billy about it all. But she knew that he was going to help her get it all done. “Oh, and make sure that you take over the planning with Vala for my birthday party in September. I’m going to be swamped filming, and I want to make sure it goes off without a hitch.”
Billy nodded, making a note to contact Vala as soon as possible. “No worries boss. It’ll be perfect” he promised her, “You doing okay?” he asked, “Not getting too stressed or anything?”
“No, not too stressed. Tired of being kidnapped in my dreams.” She gave him a tired smile. Link always came to save her. She loved that. She may not have loved him the same way in the dreams as she did here, but the amount of love that she felt for him here made up for that fact. “How about you? The job treating you all right?”
“Kidnapped? Really? Wow” Billy said, “That’s kind of excitingly scary” He smiled at her, “I’m good. Job’s great, you’re pretty awesome as a boss” he grinned, “I had a dream too but not as exciting as yours”
Zelda laughed softly, going pink. “Thanks. I think you’re pretty awesome as an assistant.” She said, then gave him a grin. “Yeah, kidnapping. What’s not as exciting as kidnapping?”
"Thanks, I'm trying to be" Billy told her with a grin. "So far they've been pretty close to real life. Adoption, bullying at school, all that stuff but there are superheroes in my dreams and I'm a pretty big fanboy" he laughed, "So that's different and a girl I met online reckons I have powers in her dreams so I'm kind of impatiently waiting for that to happen"
“Wow, superheroes? That sounds so cool! I’ve got powers in mine, but it’s difficult to control them here.” She said, leaning back in her chair and folding one leg over the other. She popped open a bottle of water to have a sip as they talked. “What kind of superheroes are in your dreams? Like, masked vigilante, from another planet kind?”
“It is pretty awesome and I met someone who says I have powers in her dreams so I’m looking forward to that. And I really hope that I get them here too” he grinned, “Mostly mutants, people with powers as a result of a mutation or like awesome technology that they use”
“Not like, scary mutants, though?” Zelda asked, the smile sliding off her face a little. “Awesome technology… like Tony Stark?”
"No, they're all good. Don't worry, they group together and help each other" he smiled in reassurance, "Exactly, Iron Man is in my dreams, Captain America and a bunch of others"
“Wow. That’s… that’s really cool! And they all know you in your dreams? And you know them? I barely know Tony Stark. I don’t know Captain America.” She said, scrunching her nose up. “I’ve only met two people who dream about me. And Navi hasn’t been in any of my dreams yet.”
“I know them” Billy said, “But they don’t know me. Not yet anyway. I’m hoping that if I get powers then they get to know me because that would be pretty cool” he replied, “It’s still awesome that they know you though right? I mean it’s nice to know you aren’t dreaming alone”
“It’s totally awesome. I mean, I don’t know how I’m not head over heels for Link in the Dreams, too. I’m simply mad about him here. And he’s such a hero in the Dreams.” She said, blushing a bit. “I’m really glad I’m not dreaming alone. And you’re not, too. When I first had my dream, I thought I was going crazy. Actually, it was a vision.”
“You and Link are adorable” Billy told her with a smile as he noticed her blush, “Yeah, I bet it was a little strange, guess I’m lucky that I read about them before I had them otherwise I’d have been a little freaked out too. A vision?” he asked wondering what was different.
“Yeah. I was awake.” Probably had to do with her prophetic powers? Whatever it was, Zelda had simply gone blank for a few moments, and dreamed nearly a whole lifetime’s worth. When she came to, only minutes had passed. “I was awake, and… I was a little worried that it might have been some sort of strange seizure, but I remembered the stuff on Valar about people having memory-like dreams, so…”
“Wow, that’s pretty cool. I mean once you realised it wasn’t a seizure” he amended, “Has Link had the dreams that you have too or is he behind like I am?” It was strange yet reassuring that there was somebody out there who had gotten further than you.
“It feels like we’re dreaming them in different orders,” Zelda said, bringing her hands together to pick idly at her own fingernails. “He’s dreamed things about me that I haven’t dreamed yet, and vice versa.”
“That must be pretty weird” Billy said, “I’m hoping mine stay in some sort of order, I think I’d end up confused if they were all over the place”
“I’m pretty confused about it all, to be honest. I know that I’m a Princess in my dreams. And Navi and Link seem to think I’m pretty amazing, though that’s kind of confusing, too, to be honest.” Zelda shrugged gently. “Anyway, I think I need some sorbet. Do you feel like going out?”
“Maybe as you dream more it’ll become clearer?” he suggested before nodding, “Sure, I know a cute lil ice cream place not far actually” he smiled at her.
“Good.” Zelda gave him a smile. “I’ll drive.” She climbed up off the sofa, grabbed her keys and her purse, and led the way out the door.”
