It was a particularly slow morning at the diner. Caroline only had two people in her section. After checking to make sure the first didn't need anything she moved over to the second. He was sitting on one of the seats in front of the counter. His hair was blond and his smile had a couple of the other waitresses whispering about him. While Caroline noticed his good looks, she saw something more. Care saw the sad look in his eyes. A look she realized she was all too familiar with. "Fresh coffee?" She asked, holding the pot above his coffee cup. Michael didn’t know what had pushed him into the diner that morning after the desire to get out of the house for a little while had finally gotten to be too much. The waitress’ words pulled him out of thoughts but it still took him a moment to realize what she was asking and even then it was the pot held over his cop that made it all clear to him. “Oh yeah. That would be great,” he said giving her a distracted smile. “Sorry about that, I was thinking,” he told her trying to explain his rudeness. She dismissed his apology with a wave of her hand and a cheerful smile. "It's alright," Caroline told him. She didn't see it as rudeness. Not at all. He was very clearly lost in thought. Care refilled his coffee cup and turned to place the pot back on the burner. Her other tables were taken care of so she took the opportunity to focus on him. She moved back to the spot in front of him, leaning on the counter. "You know, besides pouring the perfect cup of coffee...I make a great listener," she offered, giving him a friendly smile. He looked like he could use a friend more than a cup of coffee. Michael took a small sip of his now freshened coffee, grinning at her comment about pouring the perfect cup and shaking his head. “And that’s a talent I know,” he told her softly. He looked at her, taking in the pretty face and the blonde hair but what most captured his attention was the friendliness that just seemed to be radiating from her. He thought for a minute before saying anything else. He needed someone to talk to about what was bothering him. Normally he’d go to Claire and Shane but he’d made the decision early on not to let his breakup with Eve affect them anymore than it already was and talking to them about it anymore might do just that. It wasn’t a really hard decision really. The waitress seemed nice and the chances of her knowing Eve were probably very low. “I don’t make it a habit of talking to people about things like this without them knowing my name. I’m Michael Glass,” he told her. Caroline was a lot like Michael. She tended not to want to burden her friends with her problems. Besides hers were things she often wanted to keep to herself. She also knew that when you needed to open up, sometimes a stranger was much easier to talk to. "It's nice to meet you, Michael Glass. I'm Caroline Forbes," she said, introducing herself.
