It was still early in the day.
Henrik was laying down on the couch in the guest house of his parent’s property. He had left the french doors that were the entrance to the guest house open. There was a nice breeze moving around the apartment. He turned on MTV and rested his head down against the pillow. He wasn’t worried about anyone coming in because of the gated yard. It gave him a little more freedom not to worry about that.
He slowly drifted off.
The darkness changed. It was slightly lit by a full moon in the sky. Distant howls in the background. Henrik turned his head, flashed a smile at his older brother that was next to him. He was held back by his brother for a moment. “Only a little closer,” he said quietly. “I want to get a better look.” He wouldn’t walk right into the center of things. He knew better than that. He took a step forward and there was the sound of a twig snapping. He looked down at his feet and then straight ahead. There was a wolf staring back at him. He didn’t stay still, he turned and started to run to his brother. He didn’t get that close to where the older Mikaelson was hiding. The ground was hard and cold. He rolled around to try to knock the wolf off of him. Pushing his hands up only for the wolf to bite into them. He screamed as it tore into his flesh.
“Niklaus!” Henrik yelled as he jumped up on the couch.
Rebekah had decided to come see Henrik earlier in the week because they needed some brother/sister bonding time. The baby was left with Stefan and Rebekah was extremely excited to just hang out with Henrik. Her older siblings were still protective of her and it was a little more fun to hang out with the youngest sibling. She pulled up to her parents house and parked on the street. After punching in the code to get through the gate in the yard she made her way towards the guest house. She sent Henrik a text as she was walking just in case he was indecent and it would give him enough time if he needed it. However, she heard a voice cry out from the general area of the guest house and she started to move a little faster. Once she got to the doors of the guest house she poked her head inside with a concerned expression, “Henrik? Was that you?”
Light filled his vision as he woke up from his 'dream'. It was brighter than the full moon that lit the world in his dream. Completely lighting up every corner of the room. It was probably the large windows of the guest house that helped with that.
He had woken up but he wasn't fully aware of what was happening in the real world. He didn't exactly hear his sister call out for him in concern. He sat on the couch. Eyes full of terror as he looked down at his body. Looking down he could still almost feel the wolf's teeth sinking into his skin.
His body was shaking.
When he came into her view her eyes went wide and she rushed over quickly. It didn’t look good at all and she could see his body shaking. Once she reached him she sat down on the couch beside him and wrapped an arm around him while she tried to soothe him, “Henrik, it’s okay. Nothing is happening. It must be a dream. Take a few deep breaths and come back to me.” She gently rocked him and hoped that it would help get the shaking to stop and he would fully wake up and come back to her.
There was something about Rebekah wrapping her arms around him. It had snapped something in him. He was here with her. Not there, he wasn't in the woods with Klaus and those wolves. He was safe and sound with his sister in his guest house.
He closed his eyes for a second and took that moment to try to collect himself. It didn't work that well. He was still lightly shaking but he looked up at his sister.
"I..," he started to speak but it took longer to find the words. "It felt so real."
