Anthony was actually pleased at how much traction the company was getting over in America. The success was beyond what was initially expected, and he wasn’t going to complain. He was growing attached to California and wanted to ensure that he could stay there in the long run.
He was just getting ready for his last appointment of the day, and poured himself a cup of (forbidden) coffee, waiting for the receptionist to buzz him to the lobby.
Zelda was punctual. She always had been, both before and after she started working in the movie business. Today she was actually a few minutes early, and showed up to the lobby, asking for Mr. Crowley.
Anthony had barely gotten one sip in before the receptionist buzzed him. He made sure to smooth out his tie and jacket and walked out to meet her, smiling brightly and outstretching his hand.
“Miss Hyrule, a pleasure to finally meet you,” he told her.
“Mister Crowley?” Zelda said, breaking into a bright smile as she stepped forward to shake his hand in hers. “The pleasure’s all mine, really.” She was happy, young bright-eyed. It really was a pleasure for her to meet him. “I’d like to get to business, if you don’t mind.”
“Not at all.” He had to appreciate her forwardness. He didn’t much enjoy the idle chit-chat that got in the way of getting work done. “Right this way.”
Anthony showed her down to his office, and motioned to a seat for her before sitting down himself. “I took the liberty of putting together a few possible investment options for you, just to get us started and to see where your interests lie.”
Zelda took the seat and folded one leg over the other, making herself comfortable. “That’s good. I love it. I was thinking about splitting things up. I don’t mind a low risk investment, as I’m probably going to keep a good chunk of money here for a long time. But I’m also into high yields, so I wouldn’t mind putting some of the money into something with a bit higher risk.”
“Wonderful,” he said, smile bright. And he meant it, too. “I’m a firm believer in a portfolio that has a healthy mix of both. Low-risks offer the security, but, honestly? You’ll never get anywhere without some higher risk investments, and we’ll never encourage you to sell prematurely.”
Anthony flipped around the folder he’d put together and showed it to her, pointing out the companies he’d recommend based on their return rates and what the company actually does.
“These are all great starting points to build a good portfolio.”
Zelda leaned forward and listened, looking over at the things that he had set out in the recommendations, and nodded as she tried to let it all sink into her brain. She wasn’t as dumb as she sometimes pretended to be, but she was no stock market analyst, either. That was his job. “It looks really good. Promising. I like it.”
“Glad to hear it.” And he was. Not that he needed to have her confirm that, though. Anthony was good at what he did and he knew it. He wouldn’t be so successful otherwise. “If you want, we can set this up for you right now. You’ll have a username and password so you can access it anytime you want, from anywhere, to see how things are going. If you don’t like what you see, give me a phone call and I’ll take care of it.”
Zelda nodded. “All right. Let’s get this started, then.” She pulled her wallet out to get started. she assumed he’d need checking account information, possibly a driver’s license number? Whatever else he needed, it was all in her wallet.
Anthony took down everything he needed from her, showing her what he was doing as he went through the process. Once he had all the investments sorted and her portfolio up and running, he in turn gave her the information.
“Keep this somewhere safe, obviously. If you ever lose it or need to update it, we’re just a call away. And I think,” he said, looking over everything, “that’s it.” Anthony flashed her a smile. “Welcome aboard.”
Zelda accepted the paperwork, giving it a once over herself. Then she looked up to him with a bright smile. “Perfect. Thank you!” She stood and reached forward to shake his hand once more, as if sealing the deal--even though it was already sealed. “Feels good.” She said. It was good she was taking some of her financial security into her own hands.
“You are absolutely welcome.” Anthony stood as well to shake her hand, then handed her a business card. “I look forward to seeing you again.”
