Glinda made her way to Miguel’s place almost as soon as he’d suggested it. She was at a rare loose end and jumped at the chance to visit her friend and his adorable kittens. She made a quick stop at Audrey’s bakery to grab them something nice to drink and a couple of cheeky pastries too. And she’d already purchased some kitten toys she’d been meaning to drop off for a while now.
Pulling up she turned off the engine and grabbed her handbag and paperbag of goodies before bouncing up the path to knock on the door.
Knocking wasn’t necessary though, since the front door was open, and Miguel was in easy sight through the screen door. He was being pounced on by cats, who seemed both well trained in socialization and playfulness -- which was probably no real wonder, considering who owned them.
“Glinda!” He grinned and it was wide and bright. “C’mon in, lady!”
“Miguel, it’s good to see you” she smiled as she entered through the screen door, making sure it shut tight behind her in case either of the kitties thought it would be fun to explore.
She laughed as she took in the sight, “They really are the cutest things” she said as she bent her knees to be lower for them, “How are you?” she asked him.
Weren’t they just? The little cats weren’t quite kittens anymore, but they were still small and lithe, with entirely too large ears. One of the reasons Miguel had picked them. Little ying and yang ninjas in the household D’Cline. Miguel smiled, bright as ever.
“Good, I’m good. Can’t complain anyway. There should be some more wedding planning going on, but it’s hard, you know? Since I’m already married and all.”
They were still adorable; kittens or not. And even Glinda, who was primarily a dog person, thought they were beautiful.
“But it’s still exciting right? I mean being able to get married here and all that, recognition from this county” she smiled.
“Oh yeah, you’re definitely right.” Miguel pulled himself up from the ground, and one of the cats stayed attached to his shoulder as he did so. They really were well trained. “What about you? Any more school news?”
“Yeah, I start in September, but I’ve got so much going on with the fashion house I’ve barely had time to think about it” she admitted with a grin, “Everything is going wonderfully”
“You’d better start thinking about it,” Miguel pointed out, grinning and petting Ghost’s nose like that’s exactly what a cat’s nose was meant for. “I mean, you know, all the cool and cute matching notebooks and stuff will be gone from the stores if you don’t get to it soon.”
Glinda clapped and smiled, "Oh you're right. I should really go shopping. I'd hate to be stuck with some boring block colors for everything"
“Right? Exactly right. Maybe I should come with you. I love a good excuse to wander around stores, you know.” Ghost looked bored with the conversation, but Miguel was animated enough.
"Oh you absolutely should. It'll be even more fun with the two of us and I'm sure something will catch your eye. Maybe even something for Tulio" she nodded.
“Yeah,” Miguel brightened at the idea, if it were possible to brighten anymore, anyway. “I’m sure he needs a new. Uh. Stapler or something.” Miguel: not the most romantic of men.
Glinda laughed, "I'm sure we will find something perfect for him"
Letting the cat off his shoulder, Miguel practically vibrated with energy. “Let’s go then. Right now? Right now.”
"Sure, okay, if you're sure?" Glinda said, not wanting to monopolize his day if he'd had plans.
Miguel didn’t really make plans. He wasn’t the plan guy. That was Tulio. And Tulio was out, sooo… well.
“Totally sure. Let’s do this.”
"Okay then" Glinda smiled brightly, "Lets go shopping!"
