Audrey came home with Nina’s favorite pastries in a box. She also had a sandwich she’d only eaten half of for lunch, and was looking forward to seeing her roommate and talking to her about wedding stuff. Most of the wedding planning she was leaving to Merlin. He could do it better than she could, she thought. Though, she loved what she’d seen him come up with so far.
But this one piece she had to put in place herself. Today was the day.
Nina was already in the kitchen, having gotten home showered and changed. She was now stood in her joggers and a hoodie waiting for the kettle to boil and her best friend to get in. She had no idea what Audrey needed to speak to her about, but she’d suggested it wasn’t anything worrying so she was trying not to worry.
Audrey came straight into the kitchen to put the pastry box in the fridge. “Hey!” Once that was done, she leaned over to tap a kiss against her best friend’s cheek, then turned to head into her bedroom. “Just let me get out of this and into some PJ’s!”
Nina returned the kiss and laughed, “Go, get into comfy clothes. I’ll make the tea” she said, moving to fill the cups for them and grab Audrey an iced tea from the fridge.
Audrey nodded, grinning, and popped off into her bedroom. The woman normally wore retro dresses, making her look a lot like a 1950’s housewife. But when she came out of the bedroom a moment later, she was wearing flannel pajama bottoms and a tank top. “So, Merlin is planning the wedding.” She said, approaching the kitchen and pulling her hair into a ponytail.
Nina looked up from the tea making, “Yeah? How did you talk him into that one?” she asked with a grin, “You have a date then?” she added curiously.
Audrey laughed. “Well, I told him he’s more organized with this sort of thing than I am,” she said, teasing, “and I gave him lots of sex in return. So... he couldn’t exactly say no, could he?” She grinned. “Halloween. What do you think?”
Laughter erupted from Nina at that comment, “He definitely couldn’t say no after that” she agreed before smiling brightly, “You’re marrying the most famous wizard on the planet at Halloween? I think that’s pretty brilliant” she told her friend, “Are you going to be in normal wedding gear or in costume?” she asked curiously.
It was good to laugh with her best friend. Audrey bumped her shoulder into Nina’s and then grabbed a cookie out of the cookie jar on the counter. Another laugh escaped her. “Yes. I’m marrying the most famous wizard of all time on Halloween.” She shook her head a bit. “I don’t know. I have no idea what I’m going to be wearing. I’ll have to find a wedding gown that fits the theme. Which brings me to my next point...” She turned to smile at Nina. “Will you be my maid of honor?”
Nina stole a cookie too as she grinned at Audrey, “I’m glad you have a theme now and I’m sure you’ll find something perfect” Then her hand stopped on the way to her mouth with the cookie as Audrey asked her the question. “Oh my god, yes, absolutely. Are you sure? Oh Audrey” Nina hugged her friend tightly, “Thank you”
“Of course I’m sure!” Audrey said with a laugh, and reached forward to wrap her arms around Nina. “I don’t know what I’d do without you there by my side. I’d likely go completely insane and focus on the catering.”
“I promise I won’t let that happen” she smiled happily, “I’ll keep you calm and sane”
“Thank goodness.” Audrey said with a happy laugh. “I’m getting married, Nina! Married.” Asking Nina to stand by her side at the altar made it all so much more real.
"You are" Nina said brightly with a smile, "And its going to be amazing!" Nina was honored to be asked and would do her very best to be there for Audrey.
“Good. Now, let’s try some of this hot tea.” Audrey said, giving Nina a bright smile.
