Bo was still trying to find a place to work. She was running dangerously low on funds, and though she was squatting at the moment, she knew she’d probably need money for rent asap. After making that post on the Valarnet, she decided to check out both of those places in Huntington Beach. It was worth a drive, anyway. She parked her beat-up, yellow car outside the Red Raven, and climbed out so she could take a look around. It was a very nice area. Then again, what part of the OC wasn’t a nice area?
She headed inside to take a look around.
Kenzi was inside The Red Raven having a few drinks and spending someone else's money. She had tricked someone into thinking she was psychic. She scammed them for fifty bucks to tell them a bunch of ridiculous crap. She didn't know if it was true or not and honestly she didn't care. She was fifty dollars richer. At least she was until she sat down at the bar here.
She preferred coming to this bar than the others she had been to. The Red Raven's bartenders were more attractive. Besides she liked sassing the newly promoted manager when she had the opportunity. It was much more fun when people sassed back, and he normally did.
Tonight the newbie bartender was behind the bar. He set down her whiskey on the rocks in front of her. She reached for it, taking a sip, and looking around. She looked for Katherine or Liz, wondering if they might be here.
When an unfamiliar face saddled up next to her, she turned to greet them. "Greetings Stranger," Kenzi said as she set down her glass and extended her hand in greeting. "I'm Kenzi."
Hey, fifty bucks was fifty bucks. Bo didn’t think it was great, but at the same time she wouldn’t do it herself. She tried her best to work hard, earn her keep. Well, when she could, anyway. She was squatting currently, but with a few different job prospects, she wouldn’t be for long.
“Hi.” Bo reached forward and shook the girl’s hand. “Bo. I think... I think we talked on the computer?” She said, then lifted her hand to flag down the bartender for a drink. Just beer for tonight, thanks. Bo needed the stress release, but didn’t want to get stupid and sloppy. She couldn’t afford that at the moment. “You’re a regular here?”
Kenzi did what she had to. She’s been on her own since she was sixteen years old. And with a file as fat as hers, she didn’t exactly get called back when she turned in applications. She would imagine her background check didn’t exactly come back clear of indiscretions.
“Right!” she said, nodding. They did. She mentioned the club. “Nice to meetcha Bo.” Kenzi nodded, taking a sip of her drink. “That I am. This place has the best bartenders. Not bad to look at either,” she told her new companion. There were a few bartenders here that she enjoyed sassing. They always gave it right back to her and she found that to be pretty fun and entertaining! “Looks like you managed to find the place okay.”
“Oh, yeah. It’s a wonder what things like google and gps can do for a girl.” Bo said, smiling at one of said bartenders. He was definitely a looker. And the wink that came from him when her drink was set down in front of her assured a mighty hefty tip at the end of the night. “How long have you been in the area?” She asked, lifting said drink for a sip.
"Oh, I see. Took the easy way out?" she teased.
"Born and raised," Kenzi answered. She'd lived in this area all her life. At first with her adopted parents. Though for most of it she lived on her own. Sleeping in abandon places, foreclosed homes and a number of other places. "I know all the good places here," she told her.
“Well, I wanted to get here before the place closes. Tomorrow.” Bo said, grinning a little. She knew what it was like to live in abandoned places, squatting where she really shouldn’t have stayed. Currently, she was staying in one of those model homes? The ones they set up with furniture and whatnot. She was thankful that it had electricity and running water.
“Yeah? I may have to follow in your footsteps, then.” Bo said, grinning.
She laughed at Bo's response. She didn't know what it was about this new person but Kenzi felt that she could really like her. And Kenzi didn't like everybody. She had a personality and a business outlook that not everyone could love. "Where's the fun in that?" she teased.
Kenzi didn't really mind the squatting or living in abandoned or foreclosed placed. She preferred it to owing somebody something. Nothing in this world came for free. That much she knew. She liked being able to make it on her own. Though sometimes she did feel that having a bed and someplace to go home to every night might be nice. Sometimes. If she knew where Bo was currently set up, Kenzi would have given her major kudos. That was something that had never occurred to her.
"In my very beautiful high heeled footsteps," Kenzi corrected, grinning back at the girl, flashing her killer shoes for Bo to see. "But seriously, stick with me and I'll show you everything you need to know about this place. Since I take it you’re sticking around awhile?”
Bo may have been squatting, but she still had standards. She had to have a bed. The place where she was staying was one of those model homes, so she had a bed. (Though, she was seriously debating Tonks' offer to go and live with her old friend. Just for a bit. Tonks was getting married, so she'd need a new place to stay fast.) After she got a job she might be able to find something. Maybe. Prices around here were batshit crazy.
"Your beautiful, high-heeled, amazing boots footsteps," Bo added, after a quick look down at Kenzi's feet. Awesome Boots. She couldn't help mention them. "And yes, I'll be here for a while, I think. Something about this place makes me want to stay. Maybe it's the ocean. I can't remember ever having been so close or so fond of the ocean before."
