It had been weeks since Magnus had, had any dreams when out of the blue, his subconscious or Orange County or whatever caused these dreams, dropped a number of them into his head at once. They had started where the last had left off, after he'd accidentally killed his stepfather while the man was trying to drown him. When the dreams picked up, a group of monks or something, who clearly knew of the supernatural and were quite supernatural themselves, took him in, gave him his Warlock name, which just happened to be Magnus Bane, and brought him up, teaching him how to use his abilities.
After that the dreams jumped a number of years, as in a couple hundred. Apparently Warlocks were immortal and around the age of nineteen or so, Magnus had stopped aging physically. In one dream, he went on a couple rather strange adventures in Peru in three different time periods and it appeared that dream!Magnus fell in lust quite easily and like real life!Magnus, he wasn't very picky when it came to gender. In the next dream, he was living in France during the Revolution when a rather handsome young man asked for his help sneaking Marie Antoinette and her family out of the palace and if that wasn't bizarre enough, there were also vampires and a balloon ride with an unconscious Queen.
Now, the dreams on their own would have been fine. Magnus had strange dreams all the time; however, upon looking in the mirror after getting up, he found himself staring at a pair of yellow cat eyes and not the ones that belonged to Chairman Meow. After staring for about fifteen minutes or so, Magnus had texted Alec, asking him if he might be able to stop by at some point that morning, but left out the part about his eyes.
Alec had been going about his normal morning routine when he had received a text from his boyfriend. Seeing as he had the day free, he saw no reason to not go over; besides, he liked spending time with his boyfriend. He texted the man back, [I’ll be there in a bit], before he continued with his morning.
Once he had showered and had breakfast was he finally ready to go over to Magnus’. It didn’t take him very long to get there. By now, he’d figured out the quickest route, although he did have to alter it now that he was living in a different place. However, it wasn’t all that far from his old place which was rather convenient.
When he got the door, he gave a few knocks and waited. He wanted to just walk in, but he didn’t want to catch his boyfriend off-guard. Little did he know that it was him that would be caught off-guard.
Hearing the knock at the door, Magnus moved through the house and upon reaching it, pulled it open, knowing without asking that it would be Alec. It was still early, so Magnus hadn't bothered to get dressed yet and was still in the pajama pants and wifebeater he'd worn to bed, thick black hair a mess. The only thing different from when he'd gone to bed were his eyes, "Hello, Alexander." He quirked a brow at his boyfriend, waiting to see how long it would take him to notice the difference.
Alec looked at the man, and paused. He’d seen those eyes before and while he would have assumed that they were contacts, in his boyfriend’s eyes, he knew better. He swallowed as the eyes brought up his first dream of Magnus....of them breaking up. What he didn’t understand is why this was happening? He stared at his boyfriend, trying to push the heavy thoughts away. “Um...how...when...” he began but shut his mouth, just standing there, in silence.
“Would you like to come in and then I’ll explain?” Alec didn’t seem quite as shocked as Magnus had expected him to be. Sure, he was surprised, but it were as if he’d seen him like this before as opposed to having just heard about it the time Magnus had told him about his dreams. “Or I can do it right here, if you prefer.” Magnus quirked a brow at Alec as he leaned against the doorframe.
Alec didn't know what to do. Magnus didn't know about his dream and Alec didn't want to reveal it. However, he gave a nod and proceeded to enter the familiar place. As he passed by his boyfriend he paused, before stepping up to him and giving him a soft kiss. This didn't change his feelings for Magnus, and he wanted to the man of that.
Once Alec was inside, Magnus shut the door and led the way into the kitchen, “Want something to drink?” He asked, glancing over his shoulder at his boyfriend as he opened the fridge to get the orange juice out for himself. He was still curious about Alec’s reaction to his eyes, but it was entirely possible that he just wasn’t surprised because Magnus had told him about this being a possibility before.
Alec took a seat on one of the nearby counters and gave a shake of his head. “I’m good,” he replied to the man as he looked down at his knees. He wasn’t sure if he should say anything so he figured it was better to let Magnus do all the talking, for now. Of course, his thoughts were on Magnus’ eyes and his dream.
Magnus poured himself a glass of orange juice and took a sip as he watched Alec then placed the glass down on the counter behind him and approached the younger boy, “Is there something particularly interesting about your knees, Alexander?” Magnus still had no idea that their dreams took place in the same universe or whatever they were, so if Alec told him about his dream it would be just a little confusing.
The younger male glanced up at his boyfriend. “No...I just...I really don’t know what to say right now…” He gave Magnus a slight shrug, and bit his lower lip, still feeling uncertain. “Are you okay?” he asked with a concerned tone.
Magnus thought for a moment before nodding, “Yeah. I’m alright. I’ll need to wear contacts when I’m out from now on, but those are easy enough to get,” Dark brown contacts should cover the yellow enough that no one should notice anything out of the ordinary, “How strange is this for you?”
Alec didn’t know how to answer that. He just hoped that his eyes didn’t betray his thoughts. “I...I...don’t really know...yet…” he answered, honestly. It was very weird but he was still sorting things out in his head, and just didn’t know if this meant that his dream could be a reality soon. However, this wasn’t a time to think about himself, when his boyfriend needed him. “Wouldn’t you need to get a prescription for them?” he asked, knowing that that meant that Magnus would need to have an appointment for the proper contact lenses.
"Not for the generic colored contacts. I've worn them in photoshoots before," Magnus knew they weren't really meant to be worn on a daily basis, but he certainly couldn't walk around with yellow cats eyes. That wouldn't go over well with his agent when he tried to explain how those were his real eyes and not contacts.
Alec gave a slight nod, figuring that Magnus knew what he was talking about. It’s not like Alec had any insight to the things used in photoshoots, aside from cameras. He gave a small sigh as he looked at Magnus, hoping that the man’s plan would work. He’d hate for this to cause problems for his boyfriend. “At least, you have a plan,” he said for a small smile.
As Magnus reached Alec and came to stand between his legs, the slightly older man, brought his arms up to drape over Alec's shoulders, "If I continue to inherit abilities from my dreams then it would appear that at some point I'll be able to glamour my eyes so everyone else will see them however I want them to," After all, he had glamour end the Queen to look like a completely different person to everyone but other Downworlders, as they seemed to be called.
Even though he had had dreams that were similar, this still seemed a bit far fetched. What if Magnus couldn’t do such things here? He sighed and gave a slight frown to Magnus, letting their foreheads come together. “And what if you don’t?” he questioned. He didn’t want to see anything bad happen to Magnus.
"Then I'll figure it out then," Magnus brought one hand up to play with the hair at the nape of Alec's neck, long fingers stroking through the shorter hairs, "There's a girl on the net who turned pink. I'm sure I could find out how she copes." Magnus had never spoken to said girl before, but he'd seen her post and he was sure that there were others who had, had physical changes like his eyes as a result if the dreams, "You don't need to worry about me, Alexander."
Alec shook his head, lightly. “You’re my boyfriend...I do worry about you. Just as I hope you would about me,” he said softly, before caressing the man’s cheek. “But we’ll figure this out together,” he said, his hand reaching back and taking one of Magnus’ and squeezing it. “Or would you prefer to handle this on your own?”
Magnus smiled and squeezed Alec's hand back, "I appreciate your concern, Alexander and of course I worry about you." Leaning forward, he pressed his lips to Alec's. When he had first met the brunette, he'd been mostly amused by how easily he'd been able to fluster him and it hadn't hurt that he was exactly Magnus' type. Never had he thought that in only a few short months, Alec would be as confident as he was now and Magnus was grateful for that.
Alec kissed Magnus back and maybe held it for a bit longer, but afterward, he let out a sigh of contentedness. “So, what did you want to do today? Or did you still want to talk about your eyes?” he questioned, with a smile before giving Magnus another kiss. Sure, it would take a little getting used to, but Alec wasn’t going to leave over something like this. His feelings for his boyfriend were based off of more than just his appearance.
"Well, we could continue talking about my eyes, but that's the compliment seeker in me talking," He smiled at Alec then thought for a moment or two, "We could go to the beach for a little while." Magnus would go to the store for contacts later. Right now he just wanted to spend some time with Alec.
Alec rolled his eyes at his boyfriend. “Yeah, well, I compliment you enough,” he commented before another peck on the lips. “We could go to the beach, but I didn’t exactly bring anything for the beach, you know...unless you just want to walk along the shore.” Although, he was a bit surprised that Magnus wanted to go out in public with his eyes the way they were.
Magnus didn’t see a reason to stay inside just because of his eyes when if anyone asked he could simply tell them that they were contacts. That would go over much easier with complete strangers than it would with his agent and other big wigs, “Then again, we could simply stay in and you could try and hone your skills at a few things.” Magnus waggled his eyebrows, figuring Alec would get the innuendo.
Alec caught the innuendo and rolled his eyes again. As much as he was intrigued by the idea, he thought that it’d be nice to go out. “Maybe next time, we can hone my skills…” he said, slipping off the counter, still up against Magnus. He smiled at his boyfriend, “So, where to?” he asked.
Magnus laughed and pressed his hips against Alec’s to trap his boyfriend against the counter, “Well, first I need to get dressed.” He leaned in close to Alec’s ear, “You can come watch me, if you want.” There was every chance that once Magnus stripped he could tempt Alec into staying in, but even if he didn’t he wouldn’t mind going out for a little while, because they could just come back in once they got their fill of fresh air.
