Who: Lorna Summers and Thor Odinson What: chatting over lunch When: earlier in the week Where: a burger place Rating: G Status: complete
Thor smiled as he settled to the Earth at the ranch and then trod forward. He asked questions, and soon, he was headed toward the classroom he had been pointed at by a somewhat startled young man, and he smiled as he went. He was here to take his friend to lunch, his way, and he was rather glad to do so.
Lorna was just wrapping up her class when she felt Thor touch down. She smiled brightly, dismissing the class eagerly. She went to the door and waved to Thor as he came down the hall. The kids recognized him, and there were some excited whispers and requests for autographs. Lorna giggled, but let Thor handle it. She didn’t want the kids to miss out on meeting a famous movie star.
“Hello, Lorna!” Thor waved too, and then he gladly signed the autographs, asked, then moved to Lorna’s side. “This is a good teacher you have here, and a good friend. You are lucky to have such as her here.”
He hugged her and smiled. “Shall we go?”
He offered her his arm.
She hugged him back (her fingers could almost touch around his chest), and nodded. “Yes!” She put her arm in his, beaming up at him. “How have you been?”
He led the way out then and smiled at her as they went., “I’ve been well. Was bodyswapped with one Illyana Rasputin briefly, but am now very glad to be back to myself.”
He nudged her with one hip. “You?”
“I was Billy Batson, which would have been fun if he wasn’t under age.” Lorna had always been curious about the differences between boys’ bodies and girls’, but now she’d never get the chance to explore. Oh well.
Thor smiled softly, and hugged her. “I’m sorry, my friend.” He nodded as he led the way to his SUV, modified in many ways to run on various forms of energy, whether solar of his own unique power source, instead of a liquid fuel. He slid in after opening the door for her.
“What do you feel like for food?”
“I’d really like a burger, actually.” She hopped in and pulled the door shut. “But I’m flexible. How’s Natasha?”
Thor nodded to her and started the car, driving forward. “She is good. Planning new things and working on the end of her series. And being as sexy as ever.” He smiled to her. “And you and Alex?”
“We’re good.” Lorna said with a laugh. “It seems like everyone’s having babies all around us, so we’re talking about that but I think we’re going to wait. We just got married, we want to enjoy it for a while.”
Thor chuckled, and nodded. “Natasha and I also will wait, for now. We don’t know if we will, but if we do, it will likely not be for awhile.”
He would be proud to be a father, but not just yet, maybe.
Lorna nodded. “You’ll have such pretty babies.” She grinned at him, and took out the blanket she was making for Emma and Scott’s baby.
Thor chuckled. “Maybe so.” He leaned forward and oohed and aaahed. “Do you make larger blankets?”
“Oh God, only for a small fortune or of my own free will.” She said with a laugh. “This is for my niece.”
“Aha! Well, I wouldn’t want you to do anything you didn’t want to.” he smiled. “That looks like an awesome baby blanket.”
She nodded. “Scott keeps making noise about babies, but I think that’s because he’s mildly obsessed right now.” Lorna said with a fond giggle. She actually liked her brother-in-law, oddly enough.
Thor laughed. “Maybe so. I mostly try to avoid that.” He nodded at her. “I’ve had little conversation with Scott, mostly just talked to Emma.”
“She seems different than the dreams, which is a good thing, for sure.” Lorna felt a little bad saying anything mean about Emma. Even dream Emma. “I haven’t talked to her much, but she seems nicer and happier.”
Thor nodded. “I know not, only that here, she has been a good friend.” He shrugged. “The dream selves seem very different than most here.”
“That’s true.” Lorna said with a nod. “I’m glad I’m not much like my dream self. She’s crazier than I am.”
Thor nodded. “I do not dream your world, but I am glad you feel better here. I dislike myself there in mine, for he is very... slow, sometimes, and overly brash and somewhat arrogant for my tastes.” Thor wished he could bop his other self with a clue hammer a few times.
“My dream self is insane, insecure, and an enormous jerk.” Lorna made a face.
The burger joint looked ahead and Thor pulled into it’s garage then led the way up into it. It was air conditioned inside, feeling much cooler than the heat outside.
Thor winced and nodded. “Not fun.” He smiled and gave her a hug then. “YOu however are awesome.”
She smiled at him and hopped out of the car, sticking close to his side. “You’re awesome too, and not much like the Thor I dream about.”
“Oh? How so?” He hugged her, then smiled. “I am curious, I admit.”
“Well, yours sounds like mine, but he doesn’t speak like a walking anachronism.” She took a seat and looked over the menu.
“Ahhh. Intriguing.” Thor settled next to her as a server bustled up and took their drink orders, then shot off. Thor chuckled at that. “Every universe has it’s own tweaks, and it might be interesting to know that version of Thor.”
“Well, Kitty’s dreaming of all kinds of crazy stuff from new worlds, maybe you’ll get the chance.” She smiled at him and looked over the menu.
“Maybe so.” He wondered privately if that would be a good thing or not. He wasn’t sure.
He smiled as he looked at the menu as well, then nodded and closed it. “A good old fashioned chili burger sounds good.”
“Yeah, that really does.” Lorna said with a nod. “Wanna split some of these nacho fries they’re advertising?”
“Sure! That sounds like a good side.” He smiled to her, and rubbed his chin. “So,how do I look shaved?”
Lorna smirked. “I so want to make a sexual joke right now.” She reached over to pinch his cheek. “I like it.”
Thor laughed, and stuck out his tongue, then grinned at her and reached out to ruffle her hair. “Thank you, Lorna.” For both things. “You’re a good friend.” They both had busy lives, but somehow saw each other now and then, and treated each other the same, no matter how far apart it was. He liked that.
She grinned at him. “No matter how big and famous you get, you’ll always be my dorky friend who saved me from LA.”
“Good.” He smiled and nodded. And that was a better accolade for him than most he knew.
