Zelda was having these strange visions of the future. She was working on it with Nate, trying to learn to control them, to get her life back in order. But Navi said something about how Zelda had these powers in her Dreams, and Zelda wanted to hear more about it. She collected up some delicious-looking cupcakes from Baxter Bakery, then headed over to the Nursery to see Navi.
“Knock knock?” She asked, poking her head into Navi’s office.
“Uuuuuugh,” came the weak sounding moan. Navi was laying on her side on an armchair (which wasn’t going too great), a cool compress on her forehead. “In here.”
Zelda moved into the room, frowning, and set the cupcakes down on the desk. “You all right, Nav?” She asked, bringing her hand over to touch the cool compress. “What’s wrong?”
“Oh, I’m fine, just ... pregnant in July.” Navi smiled sheepishly. “Kind of feel like I’m going to explode.”
“Oh, I’m sorry!” Zelda said, shaking her head a little. “I brought cupcakes? I thought maybe that’d help... they’re not cold, though. I bet you could use a popsicle, or something.” She broke into a grin.
“Cupcakes help everything,” Navi laughed. She held up a cup filled with ice, and she took some into her mouth, munching it happily. “How’re you? Come sit!”
“I’m good.” Zelda grinned as she took a seat next to where Navi was laying. After grabbing the cupcake box, of course. She went rather pink. “I’m really good. Things are really, really good.”
“Really really good? How really really?” Navi giggled at her friend’s blush. She could guess why.
“Really really,” Zelda said, blushing even deeper. “Link and I are... we took things to the next level.” The sex level. As if that wasn’t obvious.
Navi grinned, hovering over her chair a little. “Ohhhh, that’s so sweet!” She was so happy her friends were in love and together.
“He’s absolutely amazing and I’m head over heels in love with him,” Zelda confessed in a gush of air. “...I want to be with him all day every day and forever and ever.”
“You should!” Navi beamed. “You guys make the cutest couple, seriously. And I think you’re good for each other.”
“Thank you.” Zelda gave a little sigh. She was obviously blissfully happy. “It’s only a little scary that now I’m having these weird visions. Though, my friend Nate is trying to help me learn to control them.”
“In my dreams, you had better control over them, but sometimes they’d come without warning. Usually just the really important ones.” Navi smiled and squeezed Zelda’s hand. “What are you seeing?”
“Just... the future. Not far into the future, and nothing important... but it’s really confusing sometimes, and a little irritating.” Zelda confessed. “If only I would see something important, or something meaningful.”
“You did. You will.” Navi’s fingers ran over her stomach, trying to calm the little one kicking inside her. “In my dreams you saw a world on fire because of this bad guy, Ganondorf. You’ll see lots of things, but you’re smart enough to know what’s important and what’s not.”
“Ganondorf?” Zelda said, frowning. “In my dreams his name is Ganon. He’s kidnapped me and... he’s just a bad, bad man.” She gave a little shiver, folding her arms across her chest. “If only I’d seen how bad he was before it happened.”
“He goes by a few names, probably to throw us off.” Navi didn’t like talking about him; that alone gave her the wig.
“He’s evil.” And she left it at that. “Oh, so I’m planning your baby shower with the party planner. It’s going to be in the ballroom at my dad’s hotel.” Like, totally ritzy. “She’s doing decorations, food, invites and party bags for the guests. And we’re putting your favorite charities on the invites, so people will pass it forward instead of buying tons of baby junk.”
Navi smiled and hugged Zelda. “He won’t come here. I’m sure we’re safe.” But the baby shower, all of the effort that Zelda had gone to - Navi’s eyes filled with happy tears and she sniffled, waving her hands a bit. “Oh, Zellie.”
Zelda didn’t like the tears, so she rushed forward to wrap her arms around her pregnant friend. “It was nothing. Really. Don’t fuss on it.” She said, giving Navi a squeeze.
“No, no, I’m happy, I promise! I just cry at everything now. Oh, hey, it’s a nice day out! Cry. Oh, hey, Pete’s standing up! Cry.” She chuckled at herself. “I can’t help it.”
Didn’t stop Zelda from hugging her friend tightly. “Well, cry, then! Don’t let me get between a pregnant gal and her hormones.” She said, then finally let go. “But cry while I’m getting you your cupcake.” She added, and moved to get the cupcakes from the desk. She held one out to Navi.
“You want me to have a baby who loves cake. I agree with this plan,” Navi grinned, accepting a cupcake and sitting up a little. “Zellie? If I show you my wings, now that you have the visions, will you be upset?”
“Who doesn’t love cake? I mean, any baby in his or her right mind would love cake, right? It’s not something that we learn as a species, is it?” Zelda grinned. Then she gave a little gasp. “Your wings? Really? Tell me! Show me!”
Navi had been waiting for the opportunity to show Zelda that she was a fairy. She hovered a little over the chair, her iridescent blue wings shimmering, sending glitter flying behind her. It sounded like wind chimes when they flapped. “You know how there’s fairies in Hyrule?”
Zelda was on her feet in an instant. That was just... absolutely amazing! How come she hadn’t seen this in her future?? “You’re... you’re... “ She pointed at the wings, face breaking into a huge, excited, happy smile.
Going tiny, Navi giggled. “Yeah, I’m a fairy!” When she was little, she was mostly a ball of glowing blue light, able to fly a little faster than before. “I didn’t want to tell you until you’d started dreaming yourself, I thought I’d scare you!”
“You would have terrified me!” Zelda said. She was nearly glowing herself, looking on at Navi with a bright smile on her face. “But now you remind me of home! This is amazing, Nav!!”
“I do? Oh, good!” Tiny Navi fluttered around Zelda’s head, glad she could at least do that for someone.
Zelda nodded, watching Navi fly around. “Does Link know that you... you’re a fairy?” She asked, grinning at her friend. “It’s not bad for the baby, is it??”
She went big again and nodded. “He knows, and nope! It’s not bad for the baby. I’m guessing she’s a fairy too and goes tiny. She thumps really hard after I go big again.” Navi motioned for Zelda to touch her belly.
“Awww.” Zelda moved forward to touch and gave a laugh when the baby thumped against her hand. “Wow. That’s crazy!” She just sat for a moment, feeling the baby move. “That’s... it’s really amazing, Nav. I can’t even put it into words.”
“And Pete can control the energy he gets from the sun and turn it into fire energy, so that’s why I’ve been calling her the fire fairy.” Navi chuckled and looked down at her still growing stomach. “I can’t believe I’m so close to delivering her.” And yet September seemed like it would be years away.
“I know. We’ve got the shower planned. Did I tell you that already? Everything’s set. The invites went out to everyone on your list.” Zelda said. Everything was in place, taken care of by herself and Vala.
“You do? Holy cow.” Navi’s eyes went wide. “That just makes it seem so much more real.”
“Yes!” Zelda took one of Navi’s hands and squeezed it. “It’s going to be in the ballroom at my dad’s hotel, and everything is taken care of. Decorations, food, donations to charities in your honor. All of it.”
“Oh my gosh. A ballroom?” Navi’s blue eyes went wide. “That sounds so fancy!”
“You have no idea, Nav. It’s going to be fantastic. I’m getting a cake from Baxter Bakery, and more of the sparkling milk for everyone... and there are going to be gift bags for everyone to take home with wonderful stuff in them!”
“You should do that for a living, holy cow, that’s amazing.” Navi shook her head. She could make flowers grow, but she couldn’t plan parties even with a long period of time to do so.
Zelda laughed. “Well, that’s what Vala does. I just gave her all the information, and she’s making it happen. Well, I reserved the hall and picked the day.” She added. “It’s going to be so much fun. I can’t wait! We’ve got baby shower games and everything! Though, no melted chocolate in diapers, because gross. And I’m not eating baby food out of a jar.”
“Oh, cool! Besides, I want you to be an actress so I can watch you and ew, why would we melt chocolate in diapers? That wastes chocolate and diapers.” Navi’s nose wrinkled. “Mmph, chocolate.”
Zelda blushed at the actress comment. She was so excited to have her movie hit the big screen! And start filming the second one? It was all so wonderful and thrilling! “...Right?? I don’t know why anyone would do that. Though, Vala has some cute ideas for Baby Shower games. It’s going to be fun and not disgusting or wasteful.”
“Oh, good. No gross games.” Navi laughed to herself. “I mean, I like gross most of the time because I’m weird, but gross games, not so much.”
“Well, at least your guests won’t have to deal with poopy diapers. Yet, anyway.” Zelda said, shrugging her shoulders. “That’s something some of us may leave up to the professionals,” she added. She couldn’t imagine that getting close to... poop.
“Oh only after the baby’s born.” Navi laughed. “If you ever have kids, you’ll have to let me hug them. Link would be a great dad.”
Zelda went rather pink. “I want to have Link’s babies. Some day.” She confessed, then gave a little squeal and covered her face with her hands. “I can’t believe I just said that!!”
Navi laughed, bouncing and beaming. “He’ll be so happy you just said that, are you kidding?”
“I don’t... I don’t know...” Zelda was laughing behind her hands, still bright pink. Almost glowing. “Ohmigosh. I really do. I want to have his babies. Not just in the I want to have his babies, he’s so hot kind of way. But the serious way. Like... I want to be his wife. I want to make a family with him. With Link.”
“You will,” Navi smiled. “I don’t see how you couldn’t. He’s probably thinking the same thing of you right now.” Navi couldn’t wait to help them arrange play dates.
Zelda’s blush deepened. She nodded and smiled shyly. “Some day.”
