Who: Harry Dresden and Neena Thurman(With Thomas) Where: The Dresden-Mallory house What: Harry and Neena wake up back in their own bodies When: Sunday morning, just after the bodies were switched back. Warnings/Rating: PG-13 Status complete
Harry woke with a start, eyes wide, and taking in a deep breath, and magic flooded into him. He felt relief and nervousness and sheer unadulterated joy fill him and he glanced left and right. His bedroom,. Check. His bed, check. His... oh dear. There lay Neena, clad in thin, but warm sleepwear.
“Ah, Neena? Wake up.”
He slowly sat up.
Neena woke as soon as he moved, sitting bolt upright. She felt normal, no weird tingling over her skin, no weirdly heavy body, just her own natural body She sighed in relief, laughing a little. “Oh thank God.” She turned to smile at Harry. “Tell me you’re wearing boxers.”
“I am. Both Elaine and I were respectful of your body, so we made sure to put layers between us.” He grinned at her. “Come on. Let’s get up and get moving. I can have you back home within a few minutes.” His eyes sparkled with amusement. Tell me you and Thomas were wearing clothing when you went to bed...”
She nodded. “Yeah, because of course this would happen when we’re asleep.” She shook her head. “Nice jammies. Very comfortable.”
Harry grinned. “Good, They’re yours now, along with some clothing I got this week.” He rose and started getting dressed, hoping they got to Elaine and Thomas before the two decided to come here.
“Thanks.” She slowly got out of bed, wincing as her stomach rebelled. “I’ll call Thomas, he should wake up.” She grabbed Elaine’s phone and started looking for Thomas’s number in it. “I got some cute slippers for Elaine, but mostly she’s wearing my clothes.” Which she could keep. Neena felt a little skeevy wearing them again after someone else’s body.
Harry nodded. “Okay.” He smiled at her and finished dressing and then started packing up the clothing he had bought her in a suitcase. There.
It was kind of awkward, but Neena was used to dealing with kind of awkward things. She smiled at Harry and waited for Thomas to pick up.
“Hello? Oh--” Thomas’ voice was a little groggy, as he’d answered the phone automatically, before he was even fully awake, but even as he did so, he realized that he actually speaking with his own voice. “Neena?”
“Hey baby. Is Elaine awake?” She smiled widely, so glad to hear his voice coming from him. It sounded completely different, and much sexier when he used it.
Harry started out of the rooms, found a note from Nate and Cora, and then headed back, waiting for her to finish.
Thomas glanced around, listening for movement in the house. “Yeah. I think I hear her in the other room.”
“Yeah, I think I conked out on the couch.” Neena said with a laugh. “Keep her there, I’ll drive over in her car and she can bring it back.”
“Sure.” He stretched, and padded to the kitchen. “I’ll put some water on for tea. Have you had breakfast yet?”
“Not yet. It’s pretty early. Harry woke me up.” Not that she minded. “If you fry a couple eggs for me I’ll pay you back with sex.”
“Sure,” he said, “I’m on it.” Of course, he would have made breakfast even without the promise of sex, but he was looking forward to being able to do that again. “I love you.”
“I love you too. See you soon.” She smiled as she hung the phone up, poking her head out to see if Harry was still wandering around. “Are you lurking, Harry?”
Harry stepped in from the other room and held out a sealed baggie. “Here, ribs to go with your eggs. Ready to go?” He had shaved and combed his hair into a semblance of order, and was now grinning.
Neena nodded. “I am. Ready to see Elaine again?” She took the ribs, tucking them under her arm.
“I am, very much so.” And he led the way out toward Elaine’s car. He fetched her keys and tossed them to Neena, knowing he would settle for the backseat, better to be away from the more complicated electrical stuff.
“Ready to see Thomas?”
“God yes.” She caught the keys and headed out the door. “It’ll be nice waking up without an erection again, too.”
Harry laughed as they headed out, locking the door and then heading around the car. This had been an odd week and at least it was over.
