The music was pumping through the speakers of the club, and Annie felt more alive than she had been soon. Thankfully since her flickering incident the other day, she hadn’t had it again. Tonight was all about Mitchell’s birthday though. She’d already had a bit too much to drink. Not a whole lot, but enough for her to feel quite pleasant. She was having a lot of fun though. She grabbed her drink and wandered back over to the table and then set it down.
Putting out her hand, she grinned at him. “Dance with me?”
Mitchell had been having a great time. All of his friends had come and since it was a private party, he didn’t have to worry about being approached by fans or paparazzi for a night. He’d made the rounds throughout the night, making sure to spend time with everyone equally and was happy to see his friends, who hadn’t known each other before, chatting together and having a good time. He was pretty sure that this was probably one of the best birthdays he could remember having.
He had been finishing off a drink and talking to Valerie when Annie came over, asking him to dance with her; as if he would say no. Excusing himself, he looked up at Annie, smiling, “As if you have to ask.” Taking her hand, he got to his feet and they headed towards the dance floor, which wasn’t crowded at all, considering it wasn’t some huge hollywood party or anything, “Are you having fun?” Whether or not she was having fun was important.
To be fair, she didn’t quite know if he was one of those guys who would never ever dance no matter what reason. Most of the time she teased guys like that, but most of them ended up not being able to dance at all so it was better not to push them. Annie grinned at him and grabbed his hand and lead the way onto the dance floor. She could dance pretty well, though not amazingly. Just well enough. “Oh yeah! I really am. Are you? Feeling older?”
Mitchell didn’t dance often, but every now and then, if there was a good reason, he would. And Annie asking him was a good enough reason for him. “I am. This may be the best birthday I’ve had in a long time,” He grinned at her second question and shook his head, “Not any older than I felt yesterday.”
“Good. I’m really glad.” Everyone should have a birthday that went perfectly. It was just one day a year. Annie laughed and grabbed his hand so that she could twirl him around for really no reason at all. “I’m happy to report that you don’t look any older either.” She was teasing him just a bit.
Mitchell laughed as Annie spun him around and he did it to her in turn, watching the way her hair fanned out as he did, “Oh, well thank you. Age can be the downfall of us pop stars.” He grinned, pulling Annie a little closer as he moved to the music blaring overhead. Always wasn’t like most of the other clubs he’d been to, which was nice because he hadn’t had to yell over the music to be heard while speaking to any of his friends that evening.
Spinning around after him, she laughed a little and tried not to fall over. “Well I won’t tell anyone how old you actually are. Don’t worry.” She winked and stepped closer. This was nice. Annie would be lying if she said she didn’t enjoy being close to him. “I got you a present, but you’ll have to wait until we get home to get it.”
Mitchell’s brows rose and he’d be lying if he said he wasn’t a little intrigued, “Oh really? What did you get me that you couldn’t give me here?” He honestly couldn’t figure out what it could possibly be. If Annie was any other woman, he’d think it were some sort of innuendo, but he didn’t think that Annie had that in mind.
In answer, Annie just kind of grinned at him a little cheekily. Oh yeah she was making it sound like it was a big deal. Maybe it was. “You’ll see. It isn’t really that I can’t give it to you in here, it’s just that I would rather give it to you at home.” Hmm. The plot thickens.
“Well that’s not fair, because now I’m going to be wondering what it is all night.” Mitchell narrowed his eyes at her, but couldn’t keep the smile from spreading across his lips as he continued to dance with Annie, spinning her around again, “Besides, now you’ve got me wondering why, exactly, you’d rather give it to me at home.” His smirk turned a little mischievous at that.
She couldn’t do much but grin right back at him. “Sorry. Those are the rules.” In truth she couldn’t actually carry it in the club because it was big. It would have to wait until they got home. She spun around with a laugh. Her eyebrows wiggled at him just slightly and she leaned in to whisper into his ear. “Wouldn’t you like to know, birthday boy?”
“I would. Otherwise I wouldn’t be asking,” Mitchell smirked, one hand sliding down to the small of Annie’s back as they danced. It wasn’t a slow song or anything, but he found that with Annie so close, he was having trouble keeping his hands to himself. Ever since they’d kissed on their camping trip and she’d come into his room after they’d both had the same dream, Mitchell had wanted to kiss Annie again, but he was worried about the fact that they lived in the same house. The last thing he wanted was for things to get awkward. “Speaking of birthdays, I don’t think you’ve ever told me when yours is.”
Annie laughed a bit and shook her head. “I’m not telling. You’re just going to have to wait and see.” Dancing slow during a fast song wasn’t that bad. Especially if you weren’t really paying attention, which she definitely wasn’t. She was paying attention to dancing with him, not what they were dancing to. Being around him was intoxicating, but she didn’t want to make it weird either. They had to live together. Still. “My birthday is in November. Got a long ways to go before that.”
“You’re such a tease, Annie Sawyer.” Having her so close, Mitchell was reminded of how they’d laid together in his bed after they’d both dreamt about Herrick trying to kill him and he wanted nothing more than to kiss her right then and there, but he used all his willpower to resist. For now. “November isn’t that far away. About three months, really.”
She couldn’t help but look quite smug about that, grinning brightly at him. Annie liked being a tease apparently. Were people watching? Probably not, but she didn’t know if kissing in a public place was a good thing. Maybe people didn’t even like that. “I guess so. It feels like a long way away.” She held onto him a bit tighter. “Mitchell.. I um..” Annie leaned in and brushed her lips against his instead of finishing.
When she said his name, he leaned a little closer so that he could hear what she was going to say, but what she did was probably even better than anything she could have said. As he lips brushed against his, his hand on her back drew her forward even more, until they were pressed, flush against each other and he dipped his head to return the kiss properly. He didn’t know what was going on with them, but he did know that he enjoyed being close to Annie and kissing her. Sure, it had the potential to ruin their friendship, but he somehow had a feeling that if anything, the dreams would keep them together no matter what happened.
Thankfully neither one seemed to mind pressing up against the other, or the amount of kissing that was going on. Annie didn’t quite know what was up with them either, but she knew that she really liked kissing him. And she had feelings for him, both here and in the dream. It was hard not to kiss him. Her hands slid up around him, pulling him just a bit tighter until she couldn’t breathe anymore. When she pulled back, she was flushed a little and then smiled. “Hope you don’t mind a bunch of pda.”
Mitchell smirked and shook his head, “I don’t, if you don’t.” He didn’t know exactly what was going on between them, but he wasn’t about to turn down kissing Annie. She was beautiful and deserved so much more than Owen had ever given her. Mitchell was still smirking as the song changed to the next song, which unlike the last one just wouldn’t make sense to be dancing slow to, “Can I get you another drink?” Sure, it was an open bar for the night, but he still offered.
She shook her head a little shyly. “No, I don’t mind.” Only if it was a little kissing. She didn’t mind that so much. It hadn’t gone past that though. So no worries. Annie just liked kissing him. She liked him, and she didn’t know what that meant. Yet. “Yeah. You can get me another drink.”
Truthfully, Mitchell wants to do more than just kiss Annie, but he didn’t want things to get awkward, so he’d take what he could get at the moment. “What were you drinking before?” He asked as he led her towards the bar. “Or do you want something different?”
“Um.. a long island iced tea, please.” Annie was only going to have one more before she got carried away. That wouldn’t be good. Then Mitchell would have to carry her home. She followed him up to the bar, grinning the whole time. It was a good night.
