Laura didn’t like to drink, but she did like to go out and be around people sometimes. She was the one that suggested they go check out the nicest lesbian bar in town to Jubilee, and they both got dressed up to go. Laura was wearing jeans and a t-shirt that was a size too small. The nicest thing about lesbian bars was how little she had to dress up to get flirted with. She liked the attention, and she knew Jubilee wouldn’t mind.
They were playing the quiz game at the end of the bar for a while, but Laura got bored easily because she wasn’t that great at pop culture references. So she decided to go wandering a little. Jubilee would know where to find her.
She started with the bar, sidling up so she could order a soda. She had a fake ID, but there was no point in drinking.
“What would you like, pretty?” Fang said, smiling at the girl and leaning her hip against the bar. She had on a shirt that was open pretty low, and low cut jeans. Tended to get bigger tips that way.
Laura definitely admired the view. She just had a type, apparently. She smiled widely. “Coke, please! With cherries.” She liked to play with the cherries.
“Comin’ up!” Fang poured her the coke, and placed two cherries in it, balanced on the stem. She slid it across the bar, leaning forward to give Laura a bit of a look right down her shirt. She wasn’t wearing a bra, and nothing was left to the imagination at that view.
Laura took in the scenery, smiling brightly. Fang’s breasts were nice. “Thanks! I’ve seen you on the network, haven’t I?”
“Probably. Don’t know if I’ve seen you, which is a damn shame, considering. I’m Fang.” She held out her hand.
Laura shook it and smiled. “Laura. Is Fang a nickname?”
“That’s the secret.” She waggled her finger back and forth. “An’ I don’t give out my secrets so easy. Other things. Not the secrets.”
Laura laughed, and started to suck on her cherries. “‘Kay. You like it here?”
Mm...cherries were wonderful. “Love it. Been here through two owners, actually. Guess they want to keep the clients coming.” She winked, full of confidence and flair.
Laura laughed. “Guess they do. You must get a lot of phone numbers by the end of the night.”
“More than I know what to do with!” And none she could act on anymore. She was frustrated, and a little lonely, but she didn’t want to push Vanille.
“So what do you do when you’re not eyebrow deep in female attention?”
“I like to people watch,” she replied, waggling her eyebrows. “But really, I like the outdoors. Hiking, an’ all that. I’ve got problems with one of my legs so I like to push myself. It’s good exercise.”
“What happened to your legs? Were you a war?” Laura asked, eyes wide.
“Car accident, I’m afraid. Nothing that exciting.” A terrible car accident that had left her best friend in a coma for years, while she’d thought she was dead. Fang shifted a bit, fighting down old panic symptoms. To most people she hid things well.
Laura could smell her panic and fear. It was like hitting a tuning fork, she felt the same feelings emerge in herself. She shook her head and took a drink of her soda. “You’re from somewhere else.” She stated.
“I am...” Fang’s accent sometimes slipped. It might slip a lot, but it was never easy to place. "Australia.” She was glad for the subject change. “Miss it sometimes.”
“Did you see kangaroos?!” Laura asked, her excitement replacing the emotions she’d picked up from Fang earlier.
Fang seemed to relax. “Yeah. Had one goin’ down the freeway once. But he was a zoo escape. It’s not really like you see on tv. Well it kinda is once you get outta the city. But the cities are like here, pretty much.”
“I wanna travel some, it seems like it would be neat, there! I’d definitely go running around in the desert, it looks like fun!”
"Deadly too." Fang grinned, expression dangerous. "Nearly everything is poisonous and hates humans. Even the cuddly things."
Laura grinned, just a little. “I like dangerous things.” It helped knowing they couldn’t hurt her.
“They’re pretty neat.’ Fang acknowledged, unknowingly. She gave a little laugh, eyes gleaming. “So I take it you only know the country by discovery channel?”
“Animal Planet.” Laura admitted with a laugh. “It’s kind of the only thing I watch. I like animals, they’re. . .” easy to understand, nonjudgemental, and “cute.”
“Yeah, I get that. I don’t watch that much tv anymore. Usually just kinda troll the network when I’m not out or at work. Or flirtin’ with really pretty ladies.” One of the reasons she liked working here was in most cases you knew that anyone walking in that door liked women too.
Laura grinned. “This is a good place for it, there’s a lot of pretty ladies.” She was sure Jubilee was the prettiest. Who could top the Hotness?
“I’ve met my share. Maybe not the prettiest of all the ladies. But some damn fine ladies,” Fang said, sighing softly. Just thinking of Vanille was enough to turn her expression soft. She quickly shook it off.
“Oh? You haven’t met the prettiest lady?” Laura asked, leaning in conspiratorially. “Because I could introduce you.”
“I met the prettiest lady just not here!” Fang’s grin was warm.
Laura grinned brightly. “Awwww.”
“..Her name is Vanille...but she likes strawberry things...And likes shampoo that smells like it...” Fang ruffled her fingers through her hair and smiled bashfully.
Laura giggled. “Awwwwww. You’re so cute!”
“You take that back!” She pointed at Laura.
Laura shook her head and stuck her tongue out. “Nope!”
She frowned, hugging her arms around herself, but her frown wasn’t a sad one. “I’m not cute. I’m stunning.”
Laura tilted her head, as though she was considering Fang’s argument. “You’re pretty too, but still cute.”
“that’s more like it,” she said, emphasizing her accent.
Laura grinned widely. “You don’t need me to fluff your ego, there’s a line of girls all drooling over you.” She could smell their arousal, and any casual observer could see their stares.
Fang took a deep breath, and then let it out. “Used to take numbers.” She grinned. “But kinda...exclusive with Vanille.”
“That’s good, it’s nice to have someone who loves you.” Laura smiled widely, and paid for her drink. “I’m going to go grab my wife, talk to you later!”
“Have fun.” Fang took the money. “an’ if you want some fun there’s a broken bathroom in the back.”
Laura just laughed in response, and skipped away until she flopped on Jubilee’s lap.
