Who: Toshiro Hitsugaya and Tessa
Where: Baxter's Bakery
What: Toshiro's freaking out about his dream, but he's trying to be strong about it!
When: Tonight, Saturday August 3, evening
Ratings/Status: Incomplete, threaded, maybe discussion about the dreams, etc!

Toshiro followed the directions he'd printed off the internet to Baxter's Bakery, not sure what to expect when he would arrive to this place. He'd heard the woman who owned it talked frequently with her customers about those who dreamed and what they dreamed, so perhaps that was why Tessa suggested it. Still, there was the other guy. What was his name? Gin Ichimaru. He never dreamed. Given the general information he'd received from everyone else thus far, everyone dreamed, at least at some point, and everyone had memories of someone else, or something else.

So, Toshiro, dressed casually in black jeans and a blue polo, took a seat at Baxter's Bakery, not quite sure what to expect about seeing Tessa. She was what he was in his dreams, but she now manifested in real life. A shinigami, a Grim Reaper, as she'd called it in English. Toshiro frowned briefly, deep in thought. How was it that Gin didn't dream at all? What made him special? Or was he lying? He seemed very laid-back, very casual, almost too informal for Toshiro's liking. And there was something else nagging the back of Toshiro's mind, too. Gin kept prodding him every post, making references to the weather. The one dream he'd had so far...had been about a dragon made of ice. Did he know something somehow? Toshiro was frowning at the table, his arms crossed in front of him, as he tried to work out things on his own.

No one was likely to bother them at Baxter's, but if anyone did happen to overhear, it was unlikely that they would be shocked, as it was one of the places often frequented by a great many dreamers. Chances were, anyone who overheard would also be a dreamer.

Tessa strolled in, dressed in jeans and a navy blue top, eyes scanning the room for someone who looked like he was waiting to meet a stranger. Her reaper's instincts told her where he was sitting even before she had a visual. Every individual had a certain metaphysical fingerprint. She wondered if Hitsugaya had started to be able to sense the spiritual pressure of those around him, or if that was yet to come.

"Toshiro Hitsugaya?" she asked, her voice low, so as not to startle him too severely. He looked like he was deep in thought.

His instincts took over almost as soon as he felt someone within his personal space. Years of karate training had Toshiro primed and ready to attack if the person who had interrupted him, just in case. He relaxed, however, when he caught sight of a woman and realized she'd asked his name. "Yes, sorry," he returned softly, relaxing a bit and settling back against the back of his chair comfortably.

"You must be Tessa." Toshiro gave Tessa a glance over, trying to see if this woman looked any different from those who were around him. Weren't shinigami supposed to not be visible to the human eye? How was she visible to him, then, or was he overthinking this some how?

Guessing the meaning of that appraising look, Tessa turned her concentration inward, and for a moment, willed herself invisible to the human eye; then reappeared just as she was. Not long enough enough to draw attention to herself, but enough to let the other reaper know that, yes, she was whom she said she was. Normally, she supposed, she would have been invisible to anyone but those near death, or those with psychic gifts. But under the circumstances, she was operating under a revised set of rules.

"It's nice to meet you, too."

While Toshiro couldn't yet see her in spiritual form, one did have to give him credit for not flinching as she disappeared from view. He gave her a glance when she came back into sight, inclining his head briefly.

"Have a seat then, if you will." He motioned forward, allowing her to have a seat whenever she was ready to sit down. "So it is true, then. Shinigami do exist, and you are one. As am I, apparently."

"Apparently," she said, sliding into the seat across from him. "I know it's a lot to take in, so...just let me know if you need me to stop, slow down, explain something. You set the pace. So..."

She spread her hands, and shrugged. "Ask anything."

Unlike most confronted with an unusual situation such as this, Toshiro wasn't as startled by what he was seeing in front of him. Surprised, yes, but completely startled? No. He gave the other woman a curious glance, then inclined his head briefly in recognition.

"How did your powers come to you? Suddenly? A bit at a time?" he questioned, not even hesitating in typical Toshiro manner.

"I became aware of what they were almost as soon as I started dreaming, but I didn't try to consciously access them all at once," she said, "It was more like...when I found myself in a situation where I needed this or that ability, it was there. So they were probably there, all along, but I only started using them more gradually. If that makes any sense."
