Izzy was on the afternoon shift and happily smiling and serving the customers at Baxter Bakery. She even had regulars who already knew her name, it was a really nice atmosphere to work in - mostly thanks to Audrey and her natural ability to make everybody she met fall in love with her. Izzy included. She was the best boss ever and a friend too which was nice.
She was dancing around with the sweeping brush when the door opened, smiling she turned around “Afternoon and welcome what can I get you?”
Amy wasn’t really expecting something so chipper. She broke into a grin as she pushed the sunglasses up from her eyes into her hair. “Hey. I’m just in for a kip. Cup of tea?” She asked. Amy generally watched what she ate, but as her eyes moved to the pastry case, she was debating rethinking that.
Izzy wasn’t usually described as chipper but it was an adequate description for her when she was working. It helped that wonderful smells were around all day and people were nice to her too.
“Tea we can do” Izzy grinned, “I should tell you though that this goes great with tea” she pointed to a light pastry in the case the woman was looking at, “Just so you know” she grinned.
Amy glanced to where Izzy as pointing. The pastry looked kinda like a bear claw. Flaky, coated with sugar. It was so incredibly tempting. “...all right. But can you cut it in half for me? I’ll take a piece home to my boyfriend.” Amy couldn’t help but grin as she moved to the register to pay for her treat.
"Of course" Izzy said with a nod, "I take stuff home to my brother and his boyfriend, saves me wolfing all the calories on my own. It works out quite well" she grinned as she rang up the total.
Amy chuckled softly. “I suppose they have to go somewhere after they sit on the shelf all day. Better than chucking them in the bin, for sure.” She said, paying for the snack. “This is a nice place, though, I’m really glad you suggested I come in and check it out.”
“There’s never much left to be honest” Izzy told her, “Audrey’s baking is already renowned” Though the older woman did always make sure that her employees had something. “You’re more than welcome, oh it’s Amy right? I wasn’t sure at first” she admitted, “Sorry”
“Yeah, Amy.” Amy said, nodding and smiling. “You were right about this place. It’s... amazing. All the employees look so happy,” she added, giving a little wave to the woman behind the espresso machine. “And you’re Izzy, yeah?”
Izzy laughed, “We are, I guess the case could be made that we’re all crazy too but I prefer happy” she winked, “Isabelle Lightwood but yeah call me Izzy” she smiled.
“Nice to meet you, Izzy.” Amy said, grinning brightly. “The artwork up and about... that’s all local, yeah? I heard that there was a gala here.”
"Oh yeah" Izzy nodded, "Audrey is great with the local community. We had local musicians, artists, everybody really. And her boyfriend proposed to her too. It was great" she enthused.
“Wow.” Amy looked impressed. “I’m sad I wasn’t there. That sounds like a pretty amazing party.” Proposals always seemed to class things up a bit. Not that she was interested in that sort of thing. She was still in the middle of a messy divorce. Actually, John proposing was one of her worst nightmares. ...but he was too smart for something like that. Right? ...right?
“It was great” Izzy agreed, “I’m sure you must have seen an impressive party or two though. Don’t models attend lots of those?”
“Oh. Yes.” Amy said, giving a nod. “I do. Lots of parties. Though, none at adorable bakeries like this one.” She added, smiling. “I’ll have to come to the Bakery’s next Gala.”
"It is damn adorable right?" Izzy grinned, "I will be sure to let you know when the next one is. Though I imagine we'll be busy wedding planning soon"
“Ooh, yes. Is she going to cater her own wedding?” Amy asked, playfully. “The food here is so good, I wouldn’t blame her if she did.”
Izzy laughed softly, “I think she might take the day off though I agree with you, the food is amazing here. She might be disappointed with somebody else’s catering”
“I know I would be. I’d spend half the time thinking ‘well, I could have done this differently,’” Amy said with a grin.
“I wonder if she’d let us do it?” Izzy pondered, “I mean her staff. That way it’d be kind of like she would be doing it without her actually doing it”
“I bet she would. I mean, she’s trained you all, right? There’s not anyone in the world she trusts as much as her staff.” At least, Amy thought that’s the way it should be.
Izzy nodded, “Maybe I’ll speak to her and suggest it” she said, “Anyway sorry about that. Off on a tangent” she grinned, “It happens sometimes”
“That’s okay. I totally understand tangents.” Amy grinned, then checked her phone for the time. “Good luck on the wedding planning. I really should get going. I’ve got a date with a personal trainer at the gym.”
"Wouldn't want to keep you from that, have fun" Izzy smiled, meaning it as she loved the gym, "It was great to meet you"
“And you, too!” Amy gave Izzy a bright smile as she moved toward the door. “I’ll be in touch. Text me if you’ve got some time off and want to go to a movie or something.” She waved, then headed out.
