What: Random Encounter, re-meeting!
Rating/Warning: Low/None
Status: Complete!
It wasn’t often that Tonks went shopping in a mall on her own, but her mark had given in a lot faster than she had been expecting so she decided to go and check on the progress of her wedding dress. She was trying not to panic that it was so close especially as everything was going well but there was this niggling thought at the back of her mind saying something had to go wrong.
Leaving the bridal shop with a promise from the owner to deliver it as soon as it was in she walked right into somebody. “Oh god I’m so sorry”
Bo was the woman that she walked right into. She stumbled back a step, but reached both arms up as if to catch the woman who’d bumped into her--just in case either of them was in danger of falling. “Oh, it’s all right. Are you okay?”
“I’m fine thank you, are you...Bo?” Tonks asked as she finally got a look at the woman, “No way, what are you doing here?” she smiled brightly.
“Tonks?” Bo asked, her eyes going a little wide. Then she broke into a bright smile to mirror her old friend’s. “Just as clumsy as ever, I see.” She reached forward to hug the other. “I’ve just moved here! Well, sort of. I’m squatting nearby.” Not uncommon for Bo. “Looking for a more permanent place.”
“Hey I’ve gotten much better” she laughed as she embraced her friend, “Moved here? That’s great. Squatting again? You know what, you should come stay with us until you find somewhere” Tonks knew Mac wouldn’t mind, he was the kind, understanding sort.
“Us?” Bo asked. She’d heard the invitation, and logged it away. Didn’t want to give an answer right off the bat. She liked her space, and knew Tonks did, too. But there was an ‘us’, hmm? “Who’s us?”
Tonks did like her space but she'd rather have Bo with them than squatting, besides the orchard house was big enough or....
She held her ring up to show her friend, "Us would be Mac and myself, we're engaged. Actually the wedding is just over two weeks away"
“Wow. That’s amazing! Congratulations, Tonks. I’m sure he’s a stand-up guy.” Bo said, smiling and nodding. She was genuinely excited for her friend, even though that wasn’t the life she could possibly imagine for herself. “You’re really made a life for yourself here, huh?”
Tonks nodded, “I have” she agreed, “It was pretty unexpected but when I met him there was just something there between us you know? I never saw myself settling down or thinking about houses or family but now, I want it all” she smiled.
Bo didn’t really know. She’d never experienced anything like that before, really, so she had no idea. But she was happy for her friend. “Wow. White picket fence, all that? You’re not pregnant, are you?” She asked, only half kidding.
Tonks laughed, "I'm not pregnant" she assured Bo, "Mac and I are gonna have a few years to enjoy each other before we try for kids"
“Well, congrats again. I should buy you a drink.” Bo said, playfully. Definitely not the life she imagined for herself, but she couldn’t deny how happy Tonks looked about the whole situation. “If you know a good place to go around here? I’m still learning the area.”
“Thanks” Tonks grinned, she was definitely the happiest she had ever been and knew it showed. “Sure that sounds great. I know a few places, I can help you start to find your way around. It won’t be long before you know everything, I remember how quick you are at picking things up”
“Oh, definitely. Let’s start with somewhere for a drink. Sometime soon?” Bo said, giving her friend a smile. “I’ve still got my clunker, so I can get from A to B, for sure. And my new smart phone has GPS and maps on it. Pretty cool, huh? I’ve joined the twenty-first century.” No more take and toss phones for her.
“That sounds like a great idea, and it’ll give me a chance to talk you into moving in too” she grinned cheekily, “Oh get you, no kicking and screaming either? Looks like you chose to get with the times” she winked.
Bo laughed. “Well, I’ll consider it. It’d be nice to have somewhere to sleep where I’m not worried someone’s going to walk in and call the police.” She said, giving Tonks a grin. “There may have been a little kicking and screaming.”
"See now, its a much better idea for you to stay with me and Mac" Tonks nodded, "I hate the thought of you worrying when you don't have to" she added. "I thought there might have been, I was similar but with work I had to be up to date"
“All right, I’ll consider it.” Bo said, giving her friend a smile. “Though, you two are soon to be newlyweds! You don’t need someone else hanging around, cramping your style.”
"Place is plenty big enough" Tonks assured her, "Besides it'll help us out to have a house sitter while we're on honeymoon"
Bo nodded, still smiling. “Well, whatever we decide, you can count on me for that for sure.” She said, giving Tonks a gentle clap on her shoulder. “Now. Let’s go find that drink. I’m parched.”
Tonks nodded, "Thanks Bo" she smiled, "Right-o, follow me then"
