WHO: Jim Raynor & Sarah Kerrigan
WHAT: An attempted hit in Living Color.
WHERE: Joeyray's Tavern
WHEN: After closing, Sunday Night.
WARNINGS: Violence, mentions of war and general terribleness.
Jim had already closed up for the night, sending the rest of the bar staff home while he sat and finished off a last beer. He wasn't driving home; the talk with Shepard had stirred up all the old emotions about the op, and he had walked to the bar from his house a few blocks away.
Good way to clear the mind, or he hoped.
Three bodies never found; that's the part that bugged him the most. People didn't vanish in an op like that one. No incendiary devices, no spider holes, no good way to hide a body. And it had been swept by his own men repeatedly.
What the hell had happened? Four years and it still ate away at him like cheap gin.
Jim knew in the back of his mind that he had to move past it. It wasn't strictly the romantic angle with Kerrigan; it was the injustice. She had been one of the best and brightest. Her and Wedge and Biggs deserved to come home like the rest, at least.
Finishing off the glass, he hoped sleep came easy tonight. The last thing he wanted was another long night.
