Who: Elphaba Thropp, Lúthien Tinuviel with help from Glinda Upland What: Moving in together Where: Lúthien’s place When: Beginning of July Rating: G Status: Complete
Luthien was overseeing the movers as they pulled Elphie’s things out of the truck. She could have lifted plenty herself (even some things her thin body shouldn’t be capable of) but she liked watching strong men work.
She leaned into Elphie and nuzzled her. “This is exciting.”
Elphaba grinned as she returned Lùthien's nuzzling. "I know," she told her quietly, finding it hard to keep the excitement out of her voice. "I've never lived with someone before, I can't wait," Elphaba kissed her tenderly and longingly.
“Mmm..it will be really nice...” She kissed her back. It was a big big step. One she was ready for and she hoped Elphie would be too.
Elphaba was enjoying Lùthien's kiss, probably a little too much to be considered decent in the public's eye, but she didn't care. After today she wouldn't see these movers. She squeezed Lùthien around the waist and held her closer to her.
“Oh I simply knew you two would be adorable!” Glinda exclaimed as she descended upon the two, unsuspecting, women. “Isn’t this exciting?” she smiled brightly.
Luthien jumped a little, but she squeezed Elphaba’s rear end as she stepped back, flushing. “It’s very exciting!”
Elphaba covered her mouth in shock at Glinda’s voice, hiding her face a little behind her hair as she caught her breath. After a minute, she pushed her hair back and licked her lips before turning to Glinda. “Hi...um...I wasn’t expecting you to be here,” Elphaba told her with a small smile.
"Well I offered to help" Glinda said brightly, her bright pink top catching the light where the sequins sparkled, "I thought you might have been too polite to take me up on the offer so here I am"
“I’m glad you’ve come!” It was really the first time the three of them had been around each other at once and Luthien was actually pretty excited.
Elphaba smiled, feeling a little uncomfortable as her worlds of work and home collided in front of her. She wasn’t used to it, they’d always remained separate before, but here and now in the OC she couldn’t. The woman from her dreams was in every part of her life it seemed and while she was nice and, on the whole, harmless (if you weren’t allergic to pink) Elphaba had never had someone who actually gave a crap about being in her life before apart from her sister. Even then there were times that Elphaba thought that was more out of obligation than a real desire to be friends, but those were her ‘dark days’. “So uh...come to give us a helping hand?” she asked the blonde.
"Thank you" she told Luthien in response, she liked the softly spoken woman. They'd gotten on splendidly last time Glinda had stopped by Elphies place, "Of course, though I can't lift heavy things. I had my nails done this morning" she beamed at them.
That drew a laugh from Luthien, and she shook her head. “Then I suppose you’ll have to supervise, and help me keep Elphie in line.” She winked.
“Hey! When did I become the bad girl here?” Elphaba exclaimed, caught between genuine confusion and playing along.
“No use playing innocent, I’ve caught peeks of the naughty, cheeky girl that’s in you” Glinda teased winking at Luthien in return, “Now don’t we have some moving to do?” she asked with a smile.
“You’ve always been the naughty one, love.” Luthien chuckled, and nodded towards the boxes. “The handsome movers are taking care of the heavier stuff. We could watch them, but I’d rather be productive!”
Elphaba gaped, holding her hands out in disbelief. “I’m the one moving in and I’m getting picked on!” she pretended to pout, trying to illicit another kiss from Lúthien.
“Who needs to be productive?” Glinda asked, her slightly southern drawl coming out as she grinned, “Besides you need to make sure the boxes go where they need to go. We’d never pick on you Elphie, tease relentfully yes but not pick on”
Luthien kissed Elphie’s cheek. “Lets go inside and supervise then. I want to make sure they don’t knock over any of my music equipment in the process.” Or get distracted by the tree inside the house.
Elphaba grinned at Lúthien after she kissed her cheek. If they’d been alone she would probably have pulled her in for a better one, but needs must. Elphaba sighed dramatically and turned to follow Lúthien into the house. “Right...work first...” Elphaba grumbled playfully. “Don’t suppose you could supervise a round of coffee Glinda?”
“Of course” Glinda perked up at the idea of being useful as she followed the other two inside, “You know I’m really glad I co....oh my goodness there’s a tree in the living room!” she interrupted herself as she stopped in the living room.
Luthien laughed. The first floor of the house was decorated tastefully, in a style with a lot of subdued color that went well with the tree. “That’s why I bought this house, actually. Well that, and the acoustics are amazing.”
"It's beautiful," Elphaba grinned, stepping up behind Lùthien and wrapping her arms around her waist, placing a kiss on her neck. "Like its owner," she whispered in her ear with a grin.
“It’s incredible” Glinda said, walking around the tree, “Oh I wish there was a tree in the middle of my house” she laughed as she gently touched a branch.
Blushing, Luthien watched Glinda walk around. "You could always plant one, but I think it might affect the value of your house."
“Oh I wouldn’t mind that” Glinda told her, “It’s simply brilliant” she beamed.
Elphaba smiled against Lúthien’s ear, then pressed a kiss to the side of her head and gave a little squeeze on her hips before moving away from her. “Come on then Glinda, that coffee’s not gonna make itself,” she said, running her hand briefly along a lower branch of the tree before putting her hands on Glinda’s shoulders and trying to playfully point her in the direction of the kitchen.
“I think she just told you to get into the kitchen.” Luthien followed along, chuckling in amusement. This was a good day, already. “Are either of you hungry?”
“I think I’m being Elphie-handled into the kitchen” Glinda replied giving Luthien a grin, giving the tree one last longing look before giving in to Elphie, “I knew you were a slave driver” she teased as she moved to the coffee pot, relieved to see it was similar to the one she had too.
"You think this is me being a slave-driver?" Elphaba laughed. "You remember you asked about my assistant when we first met? Yeah well, I had one, emphasis on had," she told her, glancing over her shoulder to wink at Lùthien.
“I could make a joke about slave driving in the bedroom,” Luthien said. “But it would be very low-class.” She grinned though, like she was thinking it.
Glinda pouted at Elphie before smiling as she began making the coffee, she laughed at Luthien, “Sometimes only a low-class joke will do” she replied still chuckling.
“Or we could not talk about that sort of stuff,” Elphaba grumbled, blushing at the topic which she still wasn’t comfortable talking about.
Luthien couldn’t wait to christen the house with her. She was still nervous over the soulbonding but day by day she was getting over it. “But it makes you adorable.”
"I...," Elphaba started, then looked down and blushed even more at the compliment, smiling a little too. "Stop it," she told Lùthien half-heartedly, betrayed by the smile growing on her face.
Glinda laughed delightedly at the two of them as she clasped her hands together, “You’re both just so cute” she exclaimed smiling at them happily.
“We’re hardly cute,” the elf protested, even as she squeezed Elphaba’s hand. “And don’t tell me you wouldn’t be all over the one you love, if you found him or her.”
"I kind of like that she thinks we're cute," Elphaba admitted quietly. "I've never been called cute before or part of anything cute," she smiled shyly.
“Oh please you’re about the cutest pair I’ve ever seen” Glinda replied with a bright smile at them both, “And there’s not a thing you can say to convince me otherwise”
Luthien frowned a little bit. She was going to have to drill it (repeatedly and with great enthusiasm) into Elphaba’s head just how wonderful she was. “We should listen to Glinda. She’s smart.”
“Yeah, she is,” Elphaba smiled at her newest friend happily. She had really started to blossom in the new venture they had started together, contacting designers and conducting business meetings. As she thought about it, although she had anticipated this day just being her and Lúthien she was glad that Glinda was a part of it too. “She has, however, stopped making my coffee,” she teased.
Glinda actually blushed at that before grinning, “Oh I did” she said, moving to resume her task, “Apparently multi-tasking isn’t my specialty”
"Well if she focuses on that coffee the way she focuses on this conversation, I'm sure it'll be fine," Luthien replied, good naturedly.
Elphaba laughed at that, stepping forward to hand Glinda the milk when she looked for it. “Glinda definitely has a gift for talking, she’s pretty good with bringing these new designers on board for the show,” she smiled at her proudly.
“Thanks” Glinda said as Elphie handed her the milk before glancing at her friend to see if she was teasing, “Oh” she said when she realised she wasn’t, “well I’m pretty sure you would be more professional about it but it has been fun. I appreciate the trust”
“You’ve earned it,” Elphaba told her. “Seriously, from the girl who first walked in my office all those months ago, dependant on her parent’s money, you’ve really...grown,” Elphaba shrugged a little, turning to lean back against the kitchen counter, she looked up at Lúthien and smiled while she waited to take the milk back. She wasn’t used to being the one giving out praise, she was normally the one seeking it, mostly from her father.
Luthien folded her arms, watching the two of them interact. They made good friends, she could tell. “Do you have anyone, Glinda? You’d clearly make someone very happy.” Not that she was afraid, or anything.
Glinda gave Elphie a soft almost shy smile, “Thank you. It’s all down to you, you know. Calling me out on it all and opening my eyes to what was happening. You even got me applying to college” which was something she had never before thought she could do. She handed the milk back and shook her head at Luthien, “That’s kind of you to say but I’ve never met Mister Right” she replied her smile dimming somewhat. Stereotypes were not kind to people like Glinda, despite what people said.
“You’ll find him one day,” Elphaba smiled as she put the milk away, quietly wondering if Glinda had been dreaming of their alternate world and Fiyero.
“Then perhaps you need to meet Miss Right,” Luthien joked. “Regardless, we should enjoy the show of the movers.” She winked.
Glinda laughed, “Maybe” she joked. “Now that sounds like a damn good show to me” she smiled happily. She had good friends and exciting projects on the horizon, what more did she need.
