"Don't focus on the outside, chica. What does it feel like when you're in the zone."
Who: Ty Lee and Jubilee
What: Jubilee gives something to Ty Lee
When: Yesterday
Where: Gym
Status: Complete!
Rating: PG-13 for spy novels
Jubilee was wearing sunglasses, like she was some spy of some sort on a missions, as she approached Ty Lee. She looked around, to make sure no one was looking, "Psst...Psst...The rooster crows at noon!"
Maybe it was supposed to be 'at midnight' but Jubilee didn't care.
"The rooster ... what?" Ty Lee looked at Jubilee like she had 14 heads, and it was pretty obvious that no one but Jubilee was in on the plan to come to practice today dressed up like a spy, "Why does the rooster crow at noon?"
"No no no you're supposed to reply 'and the cow moos at maurice' duh." Jubilee pushed her sunglasses onto the top of her head and folded her arms.
"I don't think I got the memo or email or..." she trailed off and stared at Jubilee for a second, then shrugged, "The cow moos at maurice?"
"Good enough." She shoved a duffel bag into Ty Lee's hands, giving her a big grin, "So how's your foot?"
The duffel bag was taken without a glance or even a word spoken, though Ty Lee's cheeks took on an extraordinary shade of pink. She slung it over her shoulder, then ducked her head a bit.
"It's okay, I think. Well it's still sore, but I should be able to practice," she lowered her voice then to almost a whisper, like if she were louder things would disappear into the ether, "Azula rubbed my foot last night, then took me to get a massage for it this morning."
Jubilee just grinned knowingly, like she expected a txt sometime later that night, and it must be one hell of a txt, yes, yes it must be! Then her grin faltered and she just sort of stared, slack jawed, "...for srs?"
"For srs!" Ty Lee nodded her head, "I'm so scared I'm going to wake up and it'll be like last night never happened."
"Maybe falling through a coffee table knocked some sense into her, yo," Jubilee replied, though she had a darker theory. Maybe Azula was setting Ty Lee up, or faking it, or pretending to get Jubilee off her ass? It was plausible!
All of those theories were just a little paranoid, or at least that's what Ty Lee would have said if Jubilee ever voiced them. Instead, she was quite happy to believe that falling through a coffee table had, in fact, done wonders for Azula's temprement.
"It's horrible that she had to go through that, of course, but I think you might be right," Ty Lee nodded. She felt bad for even thinking such things, "I never would have wished harm on her."
"I know you don't. It makes you a complete and utter pushover. And a sweetheart." She winked, putting an arm around Ty Lee, "So how excited are you? It's SO TOTES HAPPENING NOW!"
Ty Lee wasn't sure excited was the word she wanted to use. Her plane ticket to London had arrived just that morning, and she'd stared at it for a while before getting dressed. There was an unbelievable amount of pressure for her to do well, and the closer the Olympics got the more she was forced to think about that.
She squeezed Jubilee with an arm, "A little nervous," she finally replied, with more bubbliness than she really felt.
There was a pause, then she added,"But we'll totally be fine. It's the experience of a lifetime anyway!"
Jubilee squeezed her back, "Don't focus on the outside, chica. What does it feel like when you're in the zone. When you're in your element and the air is rushin' past and all you can feel is the way your body responds? That's what you focus on. Do that and the gold will fall in your lap!" She tried to think of a way to describe it, "I want to say it's like having sex but that's a different kind of high."
"I think I get what you mean, yeah. It's like there's nothing at all that exists but you and the movements and ... you just described it like that, but I understand." Ty Lee nodded her head, "I feel sometimes like it's someone else moving me, or ... sometimes the movements just feel like instinct. Like I knew them all my life. Does that even make sense? It probably doesn't make sense."
Jubilee gave her an odd little look, then dropped down suddenly, sweeping her leg out at Ty Lee.
Without even thinking, Ty Lee backflipped onto her hands to escape it!
Jubilee grinned up at her, "No kidding!"
Still on her hands, she looked at Jubes and grinned, "No kidding!"
"That's totes awesome. It's like Kitty with her ninja crap!" Jubilee stood, "We still on for that class?"
"Yes! I really want to spend more time with Kitty, and that one really friendly girl from the internet wanted to join us, too. It'll be fun!" Ty Lee was STILL on her hands, legs dangling in the air over her head. She bounced up onto her feet, and grabbed her bags.
"Yeah. Kay. Cool!" Jubilee waved to her, "TEXT ME!"
Because OMFG there had to be texting about this.
But they had to get through training first. Jubilee never wanted training to be over more!
Ty Lee never wanted training to last forever so much as she did, today.
