Tonks was intrigued. The twins had told her the bare minimum about the woman they were dating and Tonks wanted to know more. Her natural inquisitiveness coupled with her skills as a skip tracer meant she had managed to track her down. The boys should have known that having a first name would be enough for her to find out more so really it was their own fault. Besides, this woman had a first name that was almost as ‘interesting’ as her own. That had to be a sign surely.
So here she was. About to enter the B&B to meet the woman who was able to handle both twins, rather satisfactorily if their recent moods were any indication.
Theo was humming as she minded the front desk which was also where she sold her wine. There were a few customers in the shop, but otherwise it was a lazy afternoon. Her bright red hair was loose, and she tucked some behind her ear when she saw another woman enter the room. “Oh, hi! I’ll be right with y’all in a second, promise!”
“No worries” Tonks smiled at her. Okay that accent was ridiculously cute, she could already tell it must be one of the things the guys liked. She was pretty too with a rack Tonks was quite jealous of.
Checking out the other customers, Theo turned to the girl who’d just walked in. “Hi! Thanks for comin’ out to see me with all of the craziness goin’ on. What can I do for you?”
"Hi" Tonks smiled, "Actually I have to admit I'm here to meet you. I'm friends with Fred and George you see and I wanted to meet the woman who has put such a big smile on their faces lately"
Theo’s pale skin went pink, and she laughed loudly. “Of course you’re friends with the boys. Y’know, I get the weird feelin’ they’re friends with everyone.” She’d dropped her voice to a silly stage whisper.
“Oh you’re not wrong but I’ve known them for a long time” she told her, “I’m Tonks” she held out her hand, “Pleased to meet you”
“I love your name, it’s adorable!” Theo beamed, holding out her hand. “Theo Flowers, good to meet you. Did y’all go to school together?” Open ended; she could’ve meant in the OC or the Dreams.
“My given name is Nymphadora so I stick with Tonks” she admitted as she shook the womans hand, “Nice to meet you Theo” she grinned. “No, my parents and the twins parents are old friends. So we kind of grew up together, I’m an honorary ginger” she winked.
“Oh, my name’s Theophilia, so Theo was sort of the default. I couldn’t even say m’own name until I was tall enough t’spit.” She giggled to herself, shaking her head. “Oh, no, I can’t imagine growin’ up with them. They were probably pulling heists in their cribs.”
“Ah the pain of unusual names. I think mine was cruel and unusual torture” Tonks told her seriously, “Oh yeah, trouble with a capital T. How Molly, their mom, put up with them I don’t know. But they are pretty wicked guys, as you no doubt know”
“They’re ... yeah.” Theo blushed brighter and looked down at her hands. “They’re my favorite people, I have to admit.”
Tonks' grin was very wide and happy, she took the other womans hands in hers, "That's great to hear" she said honestly, "I'm glad they've found someone who gets them" It was obvious she did and Tonks was glad to know she was in it for both of them.
Theo smiled. “I even told them, if I come between them, cut me loose. I’m not worth breakin’ up blood, ‘specially not them. They’re yin and yang. They’re two halves, they’re ... not the same at all, but they are, but they’re not again.” It made the redhead laugh.
And it was those words which caused Tonks to embrace the woman, probably startling her somewhat. She laughed as she pulled back, “Sorry but that was so very needed. I honestly don’t believe Fred and George could have found a nicer or better person for them” she smiled brightly, “You’re perfect”
That made Theo laugh. “It’s just obvious. If someone wanted to split them up, it’d be like they never met them. It helped that I met ‘em at the same time, I think.” She squeezed Tonks’ hands. “Didn’t they ever get a crush on you growin’ up?”
“You’d be surprised at how many people think they should come first” Tonks told her before she giggled, “Oh no, we’ve always been more like siblings. I was always a tomboy getting into trouble with them”
“I’ve already had a marriage fail ‘cause he thought that. I told him he was welcome to come first, then his girlfriend could, and I was just gonna take the business and go. It’s worked out real well for all of us.” Theo giggled. But she could see this girl as more of a tomboy. “I like that they seem to like spunk. You just prove it all the more!”
“Well done you” Tonks told her approving, “One thing I can guarantee is that the twins will always treat you right. They were brought up right” she nodded. “They do respect feisty women and I can see you fit that description”
“They’re very sweet to me. I’m happier now than I’ve been in a long time.” Theo hadn’t hated being single, but she just happened to be ridiculously smitten with the twins.
"Good. You deserve to be. Everybody should be happy and I know the boys are" she grinned, "I'm not sure they can stop smiling"
“Oh, good. I want to be good for them, y’know. I don’t want to be a burden or somethin’. They don’t need that.” She sighed to herself, thinking of her boyfriends. She adored them, she couldn’t help it.
“Oh I am sure you wouldn’t be a burden” Tonks told her, “And I’m so glad I met you. I think we’re going to be good friends you and I”
“I agree! We can think of pranks to play on ‘em sometimes.” Theo wasn’t above being a bit of a trickster herself.
“I love it” Tonks grinned wickedly, “They won’t know what hit them”
“Of course not. We’re smarter’n they are anyway.” Theo beamed.
“Naturally” Tonks agreed, “And they are bound to underestimate us”
“Or just not expect it,” Theo laughed.
“Or that” she nodded, joining in the laughter, “We can have a lot of fun with this”
“I’m so glad to have a partner in crime,” the redhead beamed.
“Me too. I quite like the idea of evening the playing field with them” Tonks said, who had been used to them both ganging up on her.
“They’re smart enough not to prank me, so they’ll never expect it.” Theo’s grin wasn’t exactly comforting.
Not comforting but definitely intriguing. Tonks liked this woman and had a feeling they’d get along just great.
