Pansy had actually printed out a stack of available apartments and houses from Craigslist and Apartments.com. She had them in order in her lap, and let Peter drive. There was a map at the top, with each place highlighted and the path between them drawn out. “Hopefully we’ll be able to get to see all six today. Unless we fall in love with something first.” She said aloud, then turned to look at him.
“Ready?” She’d had a Red Bull this morning. She was ready for anything.
“All six? You’re pretty optimistic. And even if we do fall in love with something first, we only say ‘we’re interested’, but we don’t make an offer, because there might be something even more lovely down the line. Don’t you think? Plus, I like the excuse of getting to spend the whole day with you, and not to mention without roommates.”
They both had two roommates, and of course it got old quickly. He actually really enjoyed John, and Sherlock was a brilliant man. What’s more, he loved Draco and Zuko he barely knew but had little problem with him. The only issue was, when you wanted some alone time, it became hard in houses full of other people. So it was nice to get out without them around for once... just Peter and Pansy.
“And yes, ready. When do I turn for the first one?”
"Turn... left in a half mile," Pansy said, looking down at her instructions. "I'll just let you do all the talking, and try not to look too excited." She lifted one leg to fold over the other, and tossed him a charming smile.
Pansy loved living with her brother and Zuko, but everyone needed space. "I've got three two bedroom places on here, and three large one bedroom. Do we really need the second bedroom?" She asked, shuffling through the papers again.
“Well, if we ever have people visit. Then yes, I suppose we might need a second bedroom; however, if we never intend to have people visit for a weekend or so, then no we don’t. Because I never intend to sleep anywhere but in a bed with you, I seem to get the best sleep with you it seems.”
He grinned before making his left and then taking off another street, following along with her instructions until he pulled up in front of the first apartment, “This the place? And are you seriously going to leave the talking to the most anti-social one of us? This is going to end badly.”
He chuckled before stepping out.
"If you snore, I might make you sleep on the sofa," Pansy teased. She gave him the instructions, listening to the music, then climbed out when he did and closed the door behind herself. "You're the more professional of us!" Pansy argued with a laugh in her voice. "I thought you were the one who knew what he was doing, eh?"
“You know if I snore, it’s not like we haven’t slept in the same bed before,” He chuckled then made his way towards the apartment. As they moved towards the upper floor, he then knocked on the door waiting for someone to show up. The apartment complex was white, modern, and really was more like a condo. It was a nice one too, one that was situated on a hill that overlooked the beautiful valley.
The door opened revealing the real estate agent, grinning as she appeared and shook her hand, “Hello. I’m Peter Parker, and this is my girlfriend, Pansy Malfoy.” When the lady let them in, Peter winked towards Pansy and led her inside.
“Well, maybe you only snore on the nights we’re apart,” Pansy teased, then followed him up to the apartment. She gave the realtor’s hand a shake and smiled. It was a nice place, with a fantastic view in a good neighborhood. So far she was impressed. She wandered through the kitchen, into the living room, then poked her head into the hall to check out the bedrooms. True to her word, she let Peter do all the talking.
He continued to talk to the lady, asking questions about upkeep, utilities, rent, and whatever else came to mind. Keeping close to Pansy the whole time. He was rather impressed with the place, and the bedroom was actually pretty open and sunny. Still, the place was small, even though it’d only be them. He looked over to her, then wrapped his arm around Pansy’s shoulders as they moved, looking to the lady, “We have some more places to visit throughout the day, but thanks and we’ll let you know.”
Shaking her hand, he began to lead Pansy with him, “What’d you think?”
Pansy wrapped her arm down and around his waist as they headed out of the apartment and back down to the car. As much as she loved her own car, sometimes it was nice when Peter drove. She liked being a distraction to him, playfully resting her hand on his thigh as they moved down the street. "It was really... sunny. I like all the natural light, you know? But so tiny! Would all our shit fit in there? Maybe not." She said, then gave a gentle shrug.
"I think we can find something a bit bigger. I mean, the second bedroom was more like a closet, wasn't it?" She said, then climbed into the car. Of course, they’d use the second bedroom for an office, or something... maybe a guest bedroom? It didn’t have to be big. Especially considering Pansy didn’t really even own a desk.
He frowned and nodded, “You’re right, we do have a lot. And I’d like to have a bigger extra room for lab type stuff. You know, since you seem to have this weird problem with eyeballs and what not showing up in fridges.”
He was joking of course, and Peter grinned when he felt her hand on his thigh. Clearing his throat a moment as he glanced over into her direction, then shrugged, “We can definitely get something bigger. And you know? Why limit it to apartments? I mean, I’m sure we could get a fantastic condo.” He was also thinking they could buy a place, but that would be down the road. No sense in wrapping up that sort of commitment until they knew the living together would work.
“Though I like the idea of a view and a balcony too, and as great as the sunlight was, they didn’t have a balcony. What’s the next place?”
“The next place isn’t far. I think it’s a good location. Near some shopping, which is always good.” Pansy said. Okay, so even if she wasn’t very girly, every once in a while her girliness came through. She punched the address into her phone for directions, and they were off. It wasn’t a long drive. “I think you’re right about a balcony, though. We might be able to find a townhome with a yard, actually.” Pansy said. She had two on her list of places to check out.
Of course, the idea of buying something together would be a bit terrifying. But if he wanted to buy something, she could simply rent from him, help him with the mortgage. They could talk about more later. He had a good job, a good income. He was a good candidate for a home loan.
“What’s the difference between an apartment and a condo, anyway?” Pansy asked.
“A condo is basically a purchased apartment. So it’s like renting except you buy it, so we’d buy it, we’d own it, but it would be an apartment building. So like the apartment I’m currently in? I’d own that specified location, the real estate property, but they hallways that connect apartments, the yard, the sidewalk, the everything, would be owned by a joint coalition of either the owners of all the apartments, or some management firm. So it’s like buying, but doesn’t require any upkeep because ‘managers’ would do that all for you.”
He shrugged, “And it doesn’t really call for a home loan, because you’re not buying a house or anything, so it’s like basically paying all the rent upfront.”
He then pulled down another street, following the voice on her phone for directions until he reached the next destination.
“You want to buy a place together?” Pansy asked. Funny how that was all she got from his explanation. Her mind seemed to get hooked on that phrase. ‘We’d buy it,’ even though he was speaking hypothetically. She didn’t sound as scared or appalled as she’d sounded when she thought he was going to propose. It made a lot of sense. She just hoped that if they decided to go in on something like that, they wouldn’t regret it later down the line.
He blinked rubbed at the back of his head as he stepped out of the car, looking towards her, “Well, I mean I don’t... mean it like that. It’s a condo. It’s not like buying a house. No mortgages or anything, just... much bigger down payment. I don’t know... it’s just, I mean... I don’t want you to think, you know, that I’m... or something...”
There went nervous Peter again.
“If you want to... maybe we should.” Pansy said. It might make the most sense, right? Logistically? In this market? What did Pansy know about markets and whatnot? She was going to let him make all the decisions, she was sure of it. “I mean... it’s not like we’re in this temporarily.” Was that even a word? Now she was nervous. “...forever means a condo. Let’s get a condo. Can we afford it?”
He blinked as he leaned his arms against the top of the car, watching her from over the top of it. He clicked his fingers against it and then turned up his brow, “Well it’s not that I want to, it’s just a suggestion. I mean, not that I don’t want to either... I just want to weigh the options, but I also..”
He then blinked, when she said ‘forever means a condo’ and then said she wanted to get one. He smirked, and raised a brow, “Turns out forever’s a rather long time Pansy... sure you can put up with me for that long?”
Pansy blushed. “You’re always throwing me curve balls, Peter Parker. So... I think so. As long as you don’t let me fuck things up.” That was one of her biggest fears. That she’d mess things up between them, that she’d get scared and run away, or do something else stupid.
“C’mon, let’s go look at the next place.” She wandered around the front of the car and took hold of his hand, then leaned up and in to steal a kiss.
He took her hand after returning the kiss, then rested his forehead against her own with a smile. Then he slipped towards the front of the place with her and then raised a brow, “So have you told Zuko and/or Draco about this whole... thing yet? Or when do you plan to, at least? I’m just curious how they took it, and if I should worry about Draco coming after me with a knife.”
He then winked before knocking on the front door of the next place.
It was ridiculous how much she loved him. The foreheads touching, the hand holding, the stolen kisses. It probably would have made onlookers gag with saccharine sweetness. But Pansy was in heaven. For the first time in her life she felt girly, happy, giggly. She squeezed his hand then followed him up to the next place.
“I’ve told him. I figure we can find a place for July 1st if we look hard enough. And even if we don’t find a place, I’ll just put my shit in storage and sleep at your place until we’ve got something.”
He laughed and raised a brow, “I like that idea. I want to get a condo, Pansy, but I don’t think we can buy one by July 1st. I say we take one of these places, and just rent until we can, maybe someday... upgrade to something bigger and better?” He wasn’t saying buying an actual house, not yet, but he figured a condo would be a lot of money in a short amount of time, and they could use that savings to get something more permanent later down the road if they wanted.
Then the door opened and they were let inside. Introducing himself and Pansy they began to look around the apartment, while looking back towards Pansy, “What do you think?”
“Then rent.” Pansy shrugged. “Whatever. I just want us to have a space that’s ours.” She shrugged, then followed along with him, holding his hand and letting their fingers twine together.
They were up in the apartment, and Pansy let him do all the talking. She was impressed with the space. It wasn’t that big, but looked bigger than it was. Something about spacing or lighting or whatever. It had a nice patio, which was great. And the second bedroom was big. There was a walk-in closet, too, and Pansy liked that.
“Well, it’s a lot better than the last place we looked at.” She said, giving him a grin.
“We’ll do what we can, I’d prefer to buy but … we might not have time,” he then shrugged before wrapping his arm around her shoulder, “So yea, let’s rent for now. It’ll save us money so I can buy you things to keep you interested in dating me.” He grinned before kissing her cheek, “Now, the place is nice I agree. It’s definitely nice... but we should definitely see the last place and then finally just make a decision tonight?”
"We can sign a shorter lease, and look in the meantime?" Pansy was a Malfoy. She wasn't hurting for money. They could buy--she was sure that Lucius and Narcissa would help her if she needed it. Her job wasn't great, but her credit was good. They could find something. She knew they could.
"Pssh. Who needs things? I just want your body." Pansy teased. "Yeah, let's go to the last place, too. We can weigh our options afterward."
He grinned and shrugged, “We’ll just figure it out. Let’s just get a place, and then eventually we’ll buy something. I’m overthinking, and thinking too far ahead, and really we just … we just need to get a place and move in and be happy.” He grinned then, leaning in to kiss her lips softly then raising a brow, “Oh yea? You just want my body? How have you survived this long?”
He winked then gave her a swat on her rear end, before then making their way out of the apartment again. He turned his head as they walked, “I guess I just want to make sure that you have the best, you know? Like a really nice, upscale place if we can afford it. I want you to wake up every morning with a fantastic view, and a smile on your face knowing you made the right decision.”
He shrugged, “I know it’s dumb, and I know you’ll say you’re happy with me no matter what, but that’s not the point. The point is you’re fantastic, and I want you to have the best I can give you.”
Pansy knew what he meant about overthinking. She didn’t want him to, but she knew that sometimes it couldn’t be helped. She returned his kiss, hoping that she could help ease his mind with her lips against his, then laughed. “Oh, I’ve been miserable this whole time. My whole life. Until I met you, anyway.” She gave him a wink in return, then laughed at the swat to her backside.
His words made her pause in her step, though. She turned to wrap her arms around his waist and hug him tightly. The way he spoke about her, it made her feel loved and flattered, but also a little scared. What would happen when he finally realized how normal she was? How plain? How undeserving of his affection? Had he put her up on a pedestal that she didn’t deserve?
“I don’t know what I did to deserve someone like you, Peter.”
“You were just you, Pansy,” he grinned and shrugged, “And I don’t deserve a girl like you, but we kind of both have to just deal with our luck I think. You?” He then grinned and led her away towards the door and out of it, back towards the car while running his hand up and down her back. He kissed her again, as they moved, then raised a brow, “Alright, so where to next? I’m getting antsy about getting you home as soon as possible.”
He grinned, making it obvious what he was jesting about as he ran his hand lower along her back then stepped away to make his way towards the driver’s side, looking over at her as he waited for the next destination.
She shook her head a little, and was about to argue with him about what he deserved. It was a moot point, though. Neither of them felt they deserved the other, and they'd just have to agree to disagree. Love would guide them along. She leaned up and in and tapped a kiss against his cheek. "I'm going to climb on top of you when we get home." Wherever it was they were going.
Pansy gave a little laugh at the feel of his hand on her back, lower down near her backside. She climbed into the car once he released her, and pulled out her notes to give him the next address. She punched it into her phone once she was buckled in, and the little voice came on to give him directions.
"Oh, yes, this place isn't far from where I live now." Pansy said, settling back and folding one leg over the other.
“See, you say something like that and suddenly I want to detour to your house on the way to see this apartment. But instead we’re going to the apartment, after all, because I think we have an appointment for this one, and because I don’t want to uh, rush the home experience,” he grinned and reached out to take her hand as they drove, before lifting to kiss the back of it, “But you are a tease.”
He then let her hand go as he began to drive in the direction of her home, since it was near there.
Pansy gave a laugh. "Get your mind out of the gutter and put it back on the road while you're driving." She teased, but smiled warmly when he kissed the back of her hand. "We'll take our time later. They're expecting us in ten minutes at this place."
She gave him directions to the last place on her list. It wasn't far from her current apartment, shared with Zuko and Draco, but distance didn't matter all that much to a girl who could apparate. She climbed out of the car once they were there and stretched on the sidewalk.
"I have a good feeling about this place." She said, turning to look at Peter, squeezing his hand. She couldn’t wait until they lived together.
Stepping out of the car he moved to take her hand and frowned, “You can’t keep stretching like that and expect me to keep my mind out of the gutter. You’re a tease, and the biggest sort too.” He grinned though and walked with her towards the apartment, looking up at it with a grin, “I like the neighborhood, that’s for sure. I have a good feeling as well...”
He stepped towards the door and opened it for her, before moving to the elevator of the lobby to go to the floor the apartment was on, near the top, and stepped out to make their way towards it. Knocking on the door, he watched her and turned up a brow, “You’re not doing this just to make sure I’m happy are you?”
“Stop your belly-aching. You love it.” Pansy said, then lifted their twined hands together to kiss the back of his. She followed him in silence to the elevator and up to the correct floor, looking around at everything. It was clean, well lit, and in a good neighborhood. Maybe this was the one?
She gave a gentle “Pssh,” sound. “Don’t be stupid, Peter.” That should have been enough for him. She loved him, she was doing this because she wanted to. She was excited to live with him.
As they began to search through the apartment, he couldn’t help but feel how absolutely roomy it was. It was spacious, for an apartment, and opened up to the the outside with brilliantly large windows that let tons of sunlight inside. There was even a small balcony for them to step onto, where chairs could easily be placed and a grill. It wasn’t huge, but big enough for the two of them to enjoy it.
The apartment, too, wouldn’t be huge for a bunch of people, but a few friends and them? Absolutely perfect. He grinned while he walked with her, “Is that like the second or third time I’ve asked you that this trip?”
"I don't know. Possibly." Pansy stopped in her tracks. She was staring into the second bedroom, out the window at the view. "Peter," she said, lowering her voice so only he could hear, "I love it here. Let's live here."
He then blinked and grinned as he took her hand in his. He kissed it then raised a brow, “Because of the smaller bedroom? Plan on spending a lot of time in there do you?” He laughed and kissed her lips ever so softly before nodding, “I like it too. Balcony and two bedrooms... it’s got a wonderful view and brilliant lighting... it might be perfect.”
Pansy gave a gentle “pssh” sound when he asked if she was planning on spending a lot of time in the second bedroom. She shook her head a little, returned his kiss, and went on, “It’s absolutely perfect. I can put plants on the patio. We can have our computers in the spare bedroom. And a king sized bed in the bedroom. And there’s a tub big enough for two.” She gave his arm a little tug to wrap around herself, then went up on her toes to kiss his lips.
He laughed and returned the kiss when he slipped his hands around her waist, pulling her against him with his chest pressed to hers. He then pressed another kiss to her lips before running his hands down along her back and then turned up a brow, “Oh, yes, how could we forget the importance of tub size?” He winked, “My computer will likely be in our room anyway, because you know I have a hard time putting it down...”
“Oh, I’ll get you to put it down.” Pansy smirked, running her hands up and down his back to his backside. “Now, let’s fill out the paperwork to rent this place, and go home so you can fuck me until my head explodes.”
He grinned and then kissed her lips softly before moving with her towards the front where they could fill the paperwork, “Until your head explodes? That escalated pretty quickly. But yea, I think I can fill the paperwork out in record time, you just watch.” He gave her own backside a squeeze, before moving to take a seat at the table as he began to fill out the paperwork.
