It seemed to Uhura that she and Spock were alike and different enough to work somehow. They both had insane superiority complexes, made fun of other people's idiocy and yet he was a rule follower and she was a rule breaker. Not that Uhura would ever break a rule just to break it. She almost always had a good reason for it, or what she thought was a good reason.
"Computer Science?" Uhura mused out loud. "It's all rules and languages. It makes sense. I'm a linguist myself. I know all about the rules you have to follow to speak a different language, but I like those kind of rules. They're there for a reason. I don't like the ones that keep me from doing my job efficiently and well, I guess."
She was starting to finish up her coffee. It didn't feel like they had been there that long, but maybe they had. She was being rather chatty. "I wouldn't have pinned you as a teacher to be honest. What made you want to do that?"
