"It's nice to meet you too," Uhura replied with a distracted smile. She was already analyzing him, trying to figure him out. She wasn't the best agent at profiling, but she had picked up a few tricks. She could usually tell when someone was malicious, not counting that one time, and Spock seemed well intentioned enough.
Uhura raised her eyebrows when Spock mentioned he was nervous. She smiled and wanted to chuckle. Okay, so usually when guy meets girl there wasn't anything to worry about, but with Uhura? Well, she could cut a man down with just her words if she wanted to. "I don't think you have anything to worry about," she shrugged. "I don't normally do this either. It's weird, isn't it?" She leaned in closer to the table as if she were telling Spock a secret. "That we both don't do this sort of thing, probably thought better of it a million times and yet we both showed up anyway."
Uhura leaned back in her chair and took a sip of her coffee. "I don't have enough friends down here. Orange County isn't exactly... well, I don't fit here. Let's put it that way. How long have you been living here?"
