Hermione was there a little early to meet up with Draco. She hadn’t had a chance to see him since his performance the previous Saturday. She didn’t get to tell him how much she enjoyed the music then, so she was looking forward to meeting with him and giving him her opinion when they were both a little less distracted.
Baxter Bakery was a wonderful shop. Hermione was in awe of the pastries in the case, and really glad that they’d decided to meet there. She picked up a latte (sparkling milk??) and croissant, and moved to a table in the back to sit and read while she waited for Draco.
Draco found he'd actually misses catching up with Hermione, their relationship here was much preferable to their dream one and he rather enjoyed her company. It helped to know she and Zuko were such good friends too.
Entering the bakery he smiled to himself as he spotted her, "Might have known you'd be the one with her head in a book" he teased as he came to sit down opposite her with a smile.
Hermione looked up at the voice as Draco came over and sat down. She grinned, then held up the cover. The book she was reading was a copy of Hogwarts: A History. “It just showed up on my coffee table.” She said. “Straight out of the dreams.”
“Oh. My. God” Draco said with an eye roll, “I don’t think I even actually read that properly in my dreams” he teased her. “I can’t believe it turned up. Well actually I can. I doubt anybody else will be getting their copy though”
“I don’t know. Professor Lupin--Remus--said his showed up.” Hermione said, grinning and blushing a little. She closed the book and set it aside. “Percy doesn’t have his, though. Which came as a little surprise to me.”
“Oh well that makes sense too I guess” Draco nodded, “It is surprising he doesn’t have his. I guess there’s nothing to say he won’t eventually get it though. There doesn’t appear to be much of a pattern to the things we get from our dreams”
“Indeed. I’ve got my wand, a book, but Jim’s got so much more than that. His captain’s chair, the Enterprise...” She shook her head. “Sometimes it’s just plain not far all I am is a witch, and he gets to travel the stars.”
“Yeah but you get that too by proxy” Draco pointed out, “Don’t you own half of it by California law or something” he grinned.
Hermione laughed. “That’s true! I do! And you and Zuko, too. Now that it’s all legal in the States, and whatnot.” She beamed as she looked over at him. “Congratulations on that victory, Draco.”
Draco smiled at that, "That is pretty awesome" he agreed, "Been making me think about doing it again here now we can" he shrugged, "I need to speak to Zuk"
“Well, since you two eloped before, maybe you can do a big wedding ceremony and reception here and now.” Hermione said. “I’d love to be there to support you two.” She was very fond of Zuko, and her appreciation for Draco was growing.
"We aren't really big ceremony kind of people but it would be good to have close friends and family there" Draco said, "And nice to receive the support of those we care about" he added with a smile for her.
“Okay, maybe not big ceremony. Big party afterward?” Hermione asked, grinning. “Of course! I’m sure there are plenty of people who want to show you how much they care.”
“Party we can do” Draco grinned, “I’ll speak to the hubby, see what he says” It would make Pansy happy too which would be a nice side effect. “Anyway, how have you been?” he asked her.
“Oh, fine.” Hermione said, giving him a smile. “Besides the dreams getting darker, and some silly insecurities popping through. I’m on break from school for the summer, and that’s nice. Though, I’m having a hard time finding things to do.”
"War dreams?" he asked not sure where she was up to. Unsurprisingly Hermiones dreams appeared to come to her chronologically, unlike his own which had been random. Apart from the last few anyway. "Yeah summer break is good. I'm filling my time with music and Zuko mostly. You're always welcome at our place" he shrugged casually.
There had been a couple that were out of order in the beginning, but for the most part they were coming in order now. “We’ve just started our fifth year at Hogwarts,” she explained. It was getting much darker, especially considering the death of Cedric at the end of last term.
“That’s really nice of you. Thanks.” Hermione said, nodding. “We’ll have to have a double-date again soon.”
“Ah right. I wish I could tell you they got lighter but I’m not sure I can” he told her, feeling that was enough warning without giving too much away.
“Welcome. We should I have to admit I’m not sure anything Zuko and I could do would top a spaceship” he said softly.
“Don’t be silly. Games, movies, a few drinks... that’s all we really need to have a good time.” Or they could beam straight up! That was also always an option.
"If you say so" Draco told her bemused, she was obviously becoming used to space because he was pretty sure that couldn't compare to movies and drinks with him and Zuko. But he was happy to provide that. "Then we should sort it soon"
“Definitely soon.” Hermione said, giving him a grin.
