The ride had been surprising. Honestly, Wanda had initially agreed to come because she wasn't sure when another opportunity would come again, and because Evelyn from work was a nice lady - being something less than warm and pleasant herself, Wanda knew how to spot the genuine article. Iris hadn't been the frightening giant Wanda had expected, though, and Sif was a good teacher.
"Yes," the novice rider found herself admitting. "She was pretty good with me, in spite of the thousand things I'm sure I did wrong." It was fact, said casually and without embarrassment. The first time that anyone did anything, they were bound to make mistakes. No shame in that. "Iris has more patience than most of the humans I know."
Wanda's smile was wry, lopsided and apparently there to stay, for it didn't fade as she sidestepped the same barn cat.
