Who: Rikku and Kitty. What: SIX FLAGS PALS. When: Saturday, 6/22. Where: SIX FLAGS. Rating: PG-13. Status: Complete!
Kitty knocked on Rikku’s door. God. Apartments. She remembered her apartment. It had been nice, but not the best apartment in the world, and until Xi’an and the kids and Illyana and Clarice had moved in, it had been very lonely. Even in the house, with the kids in Chicago it was quieter than she was used to.
She stood back and clasped her hands behind her back. She’d dressed casually - steampunk airship t-shirt and skinny jeans.
Rikku had dressed in cutoff jean shorts, shin-high stompy boots, a black tank top that she’d cut off on the bottom, and her blonde hair fluffing into a ponytail on the back of her head. Her goggles were still there as well. When she opened the door and saw Kitty, she grinned. “Hey! I like your top!”
"I...like..everything you're wearing," Kitty said lamely, after a full eight seconds of staring. She swallowed and then grinned. "Ready for rollar coasters and water rides? I wanna hit the Tidal Wave. It's so hot today."
Maybe a white shirt on her part was a bad idea.
“It’s ridiculous. I thought Tokyo was hot,” Rikku nosewrinkled. “Want to do the water rides first? Then we’ll get cold when we go on the roller coasters.” Being cold was a novelty.
"Yeah sure, I'll get you all wet," Kitty joked, grabbing Rikku's hand and pulling her towards her motorcycle. She'd thought Rikku would appreciate that, and the air cooling would be awesome. Plus it'll help them dry later if they were still wet.
“Yay, we get to ride the bike again!” Rikku didn’t pick up on the double entendre, but she did jog toward the bike, hugging it girlishly. Yes, it was possible to hug a crotch rocket.
Kitty tugged her sunglasses down a bit to watch. "I figured you'd like that better than my truck." Rikku's innocence was adorable. It made her feel younger and lighter too. "I hope you like the helmet I grabbed for you." It was painted to match the bike, and had a big Japanese flag on the side. Kitty's bike had US, UK and Japanese symbols on it, too.
“I like trucks and all, but awwww! You got me a helmet? And this is where I lived before I came here! Thanks!” She moved to glomp Kitty, giving her a happy enthusiastic hug.
"Lucky guess. I've spent some time in Japan," Kitty replied, happily! She hugged Rikku back. After months of voluptuous and busty, Rikku's slim body felt...well... Kitty would have to be careful, it would be easy to crush on her.
Or just crush her in general. But Rikku was happily oblivious. She tugged her goggles off of her head, stuck them in her leather purse, and then put on her helmet. “You ready? Are you okay? You look sort of ... dunno.”
"I'm fine!" Kitty wasn't sure what she was feeling. She pulled on her own helmet - which had a running panther on it - and then sat down on the bike. "Just a little... hugging is nice."
“Isn’t it? My dad’s not a really huggy type. Yunie practically had to remind me. She’s my cousin.” Rikku hopped onto the bike.
"Yunie, huh?" Kitty smiled and started the bike. She took off like a shot. "I'm sorry. You should get lots of hugs. My dad was always good for that. My mom's a bitch though." Kitty was afraid to talk to her. She didn't want any kind of 'you deserved it' over losing Xi'an.
“Oh, yeah, Yuna’s my favorite cousin.” Rikku held onto Kitty’s waist instead of the grips; if she needed hugs, this sort of counted, right? “My mom passed when I was little. Dad kind of forgets to be huggy without her, you know?”
Yuna? Rikku? Kitty blinked, and nearly swerved. She gripped the handles tighter, and moved through traffic. The topic was a little serious. "That's not really fair of him. I know what it's like to lose someone, right? But you still hug people. Hold them, touch them, all that stuff. It keeps you grounded, reminds you to be alive."
And just like that, Alicia's entire effect on her life made a lot more sense.
For a moment, Rikku wondered if Kitty had met her dad once. “I mean, he’s not a bad dad, just ... abrasive. Me and Brother are close, though. That helps.” She wished she wasn’t wearing the helmet, if only because it would’ve let her snuggle Kitty.
She really wanted to turn around and hug Rikku, and after a moment's thought, she pulled over, and turned around to do just that. Their helmets thudded together, and Kitty snickered. "That's good. Family's important, whether they're blood family of the family you find. Are you okay?"
“Oh, I’m good. You just seemed sad.” Rikku took off her helmet for a moment, giggling so they wouldn’t thud together again. “We just met! You can’t be sad yet!”
Kitty took hers off too. "Just been having a bad month...s. I don't want to be a downer, but I don't think you could ever do anything to make me sad."
“Well, then I’ll just have to do things to cheer you up.” Rikku grinned, hugging Kitty properly. “Like go on roller coasters with you.”
Laughing, Kitty squeezed her back. "Rollar coasters and ice cream? You're a bad influence you know that? But I'll let you cheer me up, if you'll let me help you however you need it."
“You’re doing it, promise.” Rikku felt comfortable around Kitty already and made no motion to move out of her embrace.
She rested her chin on Rikku's shoulder. Someone honked and she flipped them off. With her other hand, she rubbed at Rikku's back. "Good. Just...yeah good."
Rikku just stuck out her head. “Poopie people, always being mean to other people.”
Kitty snickered. "I've been called worse. Dunno if that was a horn honk 'cause of hugging, or 'cause we're both girls." She pulled her head back, craning her neck to try go catch that car but it was already long gone. She turned back to look at Rikku's face. "Ready to get moving?" She didn't sound like she minded the delay.
“Oh no. Girls hugging. Whatever shall we do.” Rikku rolled her eyes. “I mean, you said you like girls, right?” Rikku had only dated boys in her past, but Kitty seemed like she’d be an okay girl to sleep with. IF she was gonna sleep with a girl. Not that she was.
Okay, obviously she had no problem with that, which was always a minor concern at first. Kitty nodded her head. "Don't get me wrong, I like guys too, but I'm attracted to both. It's...really a matter of having a larger dating pool, for me. I still have a hard time sleeping around. Which is funny, since I really enjoy it." She shrugged a shoulder. "It was ... 'oh I'm really into this woman and oh my god that explains so much!'"
“I kissed a girl first,” Rikku shrugged. “It wasn’t terrible. I don’t know, I just figure I like who I’ll like. I haven’t had a crush on someone in long enough to worry about it.” Helmets were awesome for avoiding topics like this, so she pulled hers on.
"I kissed my room mate a year ago, and I haven't seen her since?" Kitty pulled her own helmet on, suddenly embarrassed, and worried. She didn't want to make Rikku uncomfortable, and it would be easy to do that to her.
That made Rikku blink. “What happened?”
"I was a little drunk, and she was a little drunk, and we ended up kissing," Kitty weaved in and out of traffic as she spoke, keeping her voice loud enough for Rikku to hear. "She gave me a month's rent and moved out a couple days later." And she'd met Xi'an shortly after that and....well things snowballed from there.
“Why wouldn’t she just talk to you about feeling awkward and not wanting to do it again? That just seems weird.” Rikku wouldn’t sacrifice a friendship over something as small as a kiss.
"I don't know. I kind of repressed it for awhile myself. I could have fought more, I guess." Kity felt bad about the whole thing. "I met Xi'an a few weeks later and that was a...hell of a wake-up call."
“She’s the love of your life, huh.” Rikku smiled a little to herself. She felt awful that Kitty had lost such a thing.
“Yeah.” Kitty smiled sadly. “It was weird, really. We knew each other in our dreams, but we never let ourselves..okay i never let myself consider that, and if I was entirely honest, there was another woman I might have gone after anyway. But..Xi’an was a very calming influence on me. I’ve got a lot of energy and too much love of dangerous things. And maybe that might have become a problem but I don’t really know. So she’s gone, and I’m still here, and..” Well there was the twins. “I’m the only family the twins had left. She came with ten year olds, her brother and sister. They’re in Chicago visiting with my dad right now.”
“Oh, little ones!” Rikku loved kids. “Are you still their aunt?” She found herself worrying about Kitty’s family without really having reason to.
Kitty stopped at a light, Six Flags just around the corner. The warmth in her voice was unmistakable. "I'm their mom!"
That made Rikku laugh. “Good!” She squeezed Kitty tight. “I bet you’re a great mom, too.” She was a bit like her mom in ways that were good for friends to have - generous, funny, kind.
"Thanks. Don't always think so..." She wasn't sure how she was going to tell them that Alicia left. They'd started warming up to her. But that had flown the coop and there was no going back. She was growing more and more certain that Alicia's decision had been a good one for both of them.
Even if she really missed those tits.
"But I try. Xi'an and I talked about having one of our own once they were older, too."
“Who was going to carry it? Oh! You could rock paper scissor!” Rikku giggled at herself.
"I wanted to!" Kitty laughed. "She was a lot more lesbian than I was. We also knew some people with insane medical skills. Always kind of figured it wouldn't take much to put together two eggs, right?" At least with dream!technology!
She lucked out and found a parking spot really close.
“Oh, wow, that’s brave of you. I want kids someday, but I’m nervous.” Then again, Rikku was a virgin, so that was kind of like putting the cart before the horse who hadn’t even been born yet.
"Maybe some day, if you find the right guy, or girl." Kitty didn't discriminate! "But definitely not something to rush." She stuffed her keys into her pockets and pulled her helmet off. The smell of fried foods and popcorn and the sound of people having the time of their lives assaulted her senses. "Haven't met one yet?"
“Well, I grew up on the same base until Mom died, then Pops moved us around all over. So we didn’t really stay around long enough for me to date. This is the longest I’ve lived somewhere since I was thirteen.” Rikku just hadn’t had time.
"I know a couple of places, if you want to look." Kitty secured her helmet, then nodded towards the park. "Ready to head in and be young and stupid and have a lot of fun?" She grinned. "And eat really really greasy food."
“For people to date? What, do they sell them at Costco or something?” Rikku took off her helmet and replaced it with her goggles. She felt naked if they weren’t on her forehead while she was out. “Oh, and get funnel cakes!”
"Oh god, funnel cakes. That's at least three hours of training tomorrow." But so worth it. She barely gave Rikku a chance before she was pulling her towards the line. "Where'd you get those goggles? They're neat."
“They’re worth it,” Rikku grinned. “Besides, we’ll walk a lot of it off today anyway.” She bounced along with Kitty, holding her hand. “Oh, these? I made ‘em with my brother!” She handed them over to Kitty. “They’ve got lenses to block out UV and they’re heat proof in case I forget my welding mask somewhere.”
Kitty peered through them. "You made them yourself? That's freaking amazing!" She tapped on the glass, looking suitably impressed, then she held them back out. "They're cute too." She didn't let go of her hand.
“You can try them on if you want! I could make you a pair.” Rikku grinned, not letting go of Kitty’s hand either. It was soft, and it was comfortable.
Stroking Rikku's knuckles with her thumb, Kitty pulled the goggles on, and looked around. "Feel like I should be on one of those vintage motorcycle. Or an airship." She grinned, feeling silly. It was amazing to feel alive without sex.
“Oh, I love flying. Pops is an airplane mechanic, and he always wanted me to be a pilot, but I just didn’t want to go to war. Besides, I’d rather invent stuff than fly, but I do have my pilot’s license!” She lightly hip bumped Kitty. “I could take you up sometime.”
“You don’t have to go to war to be a pilot,” Kitty pointed out. “Well if you want to fly something faster than a cessna maybe. Private jets?” She didn’t really know, so maybe Rikku was right. “That would be awesome.” She grinned at her. “I have something that might blow your mind, though.” Maybe she could let Rikku fly the Blackbird. That wouldn’t end badly at all!
“Do you have a jet?” Rikku blinked. “What do you do for a living where you own planes?”
"You know how I talked about stuff from the dreams? My....team... Had a jet. It kind of showed up one day. Not as cool as out right owning a plane though."
That made Rikku’s green eyes go wider. “That can happen? Oh, man, I hope I dream of all sorts of awesome planes and cars and stuff!”
Kitty smiled wanly, but managed to not cringe. "I hope you get some awesome stuff to take apart, too!” She squeezed Rikku’s hand, then handed the goggles back as they moved forward in the line. It was easy to snap back into a good mood, just from the look on Rikku’s face.
Rikku smiled, putting the goggles back onto her forehead. She was still in line, still holding Kitty’s hand. “This is fun already, thanks!”
“Yeah, it really is.” Grinning, Kitty paid, making sure to get whatever passes ensured they could hit whatever ride they wanted, as many times as they wanted. Once inside, she stopped suddenly. “What do you wanna do first?”
“I don’t even know what the options are.” Rikku moved toward a kiosk that had lots of maps. “What do you want to do first?”
“Uhm..” Kitty moved right alongside Rikku. “I figure we can space out the exciting ones with relaxing stuff in between. So that we can talk more.” Or cuddle. She let go of Rikku’s hand and hugged an arm around her. “Wanna start big?” She pointed at the monster roller coaster.
“We were gonna do water rides first!” Rikku grinned, but her grin got even happier when she saw the huge roller coaster. “Yeeees,” she grinned, fistpumping. “That one first.” It was her turn to tug Kitty.
Laughing, Kitty let herself be pulled. She was having a hard time denying she was liking the skin contact. "Okay, the Collossus and then the water ride. I could use a good soaking. It's a good thing my phone is waterproof. Heh. Wouldn’t be the first Colossus I’ve ridden."
Rikku may have been oblivious at the best of times, but that innuendo didn’t go over her head. “Huh?”
Kitty blushed a bit. “Just an ex. Big Russian guy, built like a tank...” Could practically become one... “It was kind of his nickname.”
“Ohhhh.” Rikku filed that information away. “Do you always date foreign guys and girls?”
Kitty opened her mouth, then tilted her head and thought about it. "British, Russian, Vietnamese..." There was Doug in her dreams and a couple of others but they never rose above crushes. And Rachel was from the future so that counted different, too! "Alicia wasn't foriegn, I don't think, but she's kind of exotic. You're kind of right. Never thought of it that way." She grinned.
Rikku laughed. “You have a thiiiiing,” she singsonged. Then they were in line for the roller coaster.
"For what? Asian girls and red-heads? I'm not sure where surly british blokes and big Russian terminators fit into that though..." She winked, and hipchecked her lightly.
She wanted to hug her so bad.
Then she blinked. "Asians and..oh my god I'm Logan."
“Who?” Rikku blinked. “Another ex?”
Kitty burst out laughing. "Oh god no. I mean he's..kind of scruffy nerfherder hot, but he's my mentor. My sensei. Literally in some cases. Dating the old man was never in the cards."
It felt a little bizarre, she'd dated more people in this world than she ever had in the dream world.
Rikku smiled. “Oh, so he’s like your dad but not.” She knew a few girls who thought of Brother that way.
"Yeah, kind of! He taught me martial arts, and a lot of other things." There was fondness and respect in her voice. "He used to call me pumpkin when I was younger, but I never said that."
“Awww! Brother calls me ‘seagull’, because apparently when I was a baby I made a seagull noise.” Rikku tried to mime one, and sounded like she had a sore throat.
"Brother have a name?" Kitty smiled. She could practically hear Rikku saying that in Japanese, and it made sense in that context. She was going to die of cute. "You sound like you need a drink of water!"
“Brother!” Rikku giggled, almost falling down from laughing so hard. “That’s what we call him. He likes to say that is his name.”
"Hey, whatever floats your boat," Kitty said, her face hurting from grinning too much. "If he wants to be called Brother, it's not much different from half the people I know."
“When I was little, I didn’t get that other people’s siblings weren’t called Brother. I just thought all brothers were called Brother. Pops says I’m gullible. ... I wonder if that’s why they call me seagull,” she wondered aloud.
Kitty reached over, tucking some hair behind Rikku's ear. "You're just a little innocent. Believe me, that's not a bad thing."
“As long as I’m not gullible. That does seem like a bad thing.” Rikku smiled, squeezing Kitty’s hand as they got closer to the actual roller coaster.
"Just have to keep in mind not everyone has your best interests at heart but...Even after everything that's happened to me," Kitty said, looking up at the sky. "I still feel like you have to give people chances to prove if they're good or bad. I still want to trust people."
“I trust you,” Rikku smiled. “You’re right, life’s way too short to worry about who’s nice or not. The awful people will reveal themselves, I think.”
Blinking, Kitty looked over at Rikku, then squeezed her hand. "I promise I won't break your trust, Rikku." Maybe she didn't entirely remind her of Jubilee. Sometimes, she made her feel like she was the person she wanted to be, and not the bitter old hag she felt like inside, sometimes.
“Oh, I know you won’t!” Rikku hugged her tightly, beaming to herself. “You’re good, I can tell.”
Kitty squeaked when she was hugged, then hugged her back. There was entirely too much exposed skin on the other girl, and she was trying to ignore that but it was really difficult.
A man cleared his throat, "next?"
“That’s us!” Rikku tugged Kitty toward the front of the coaster.
"Yeah!" Oh thank god. Kitty was relieved. She felt like she needed to cool down, and air rushing past would probably help with that. She eyed one of the drops as she got into the car, scooting so Rikku could get in. It was a snug fit.
Rikku was pressed against Kitty, the bar down over their laps. Coasters that didn’t have the restraints that fit over her shoulders were way scarier to Rikku, and she could feel her heart pounding in her chest.
Kitty put her arm around Rikku and squeezed. "Haven't been on one of these things in years." It was actually more nervewracking than falling out of the sky, since she couldn't control where they were going. "It's gonna be fun!"
“I hope so! If I barf on you, I’m sorry.” Rikku giggled and then shrieked as they started to move forward.
Laughing, Kitty shimmied back in the seat, her heart pounding in her chest as she felt the first rushes of adrenaline. "Yes...yesss!"
Rikku wasn’t much of a talker; she just screamed and leaned against Kitty, burying her head into the other girl’s shoulder.
The cars rounded a corner hard enough to throw Rikku against Kitty, and she held onto her as they started to go up a 70 degree slope. They teetered on the edge of the drop, and then they were going down at just as steep an angle, the wind whipping Kitty's hair around their heads.
"Oh god!"
The blonde’s eyes were shut tightly, and she giggled as they moved. “I haven’t peed yet, I think we’re okay,” she joked.
"Don't make any promises, we have another....!" The cars careened around another corner, and then they dropped like rocks. This time Kitty was shrieking.
Rikku loved the sick feeling that the drop gave her, the way that it felt that her stomach had dropped out and been left behind a few feet. She whooped happily, flailing a little.
It was an awesome feeling. Like floating for a second and then your body was struggling to catch up. By the time they were climbing for the final drop, Kitty had a huge grin on her face and blood was pulsing through her veins.
It was like a danger rush without actually being in danger! "Man I want to go again already!"
And then they were dropping, and Kitty was still laughing by the time it came to a stop.
Rikku was laughing so hard tears were in her eyes. “Water ride next, you promised. And I’m staaaaarving, can we eat on the way? Pleaaaaase?” She leaned against Kitty, beaming.
Kitty grinned. “Yeah, lets get some hot dogs, and then we can get all wet.” Life was looking up. She was having fun again, no real worries. This was amazing. “I could use the cooldown.”
“Why’s it so warm here anyway?” Rikku shook her fist playfully. “I wish it could be sunny without being hot. It’s why I wore shorts, so I wouldn’t melt and die.”
"The climate is warmer here than where either of us are used to. But the sun is nice.” Kitty’s eyes fell down to Rikku’s legs and stomach. “And really, no one is going to complain. I should have worn shorts too.”
“I complain about the weather all the time, what are you talking about?” Rikku laughed and tugged Kitty toward a kisok with hot dogs and hamburgers. “What do you want to eat? My treat!”
“I mean about your shorts. And I want something not kosher,” Kitty said. Really, she should drop all pretenses, but she liked to joke about it. Her arm slipped around Rikku’s waist for a brief moment, before she was leaning over the kiosk to look at the food. “But those burgers look good.”
Rikku didn’t know that Kitty was Jewish. It didn’t really matter at all, but she filed it away in case she ever cooked for her new BFF. “They dooo,” she purred, stomach growling. “Want to get one of those with bacon and cheese on it? Ooh, and jalapenos.”
“Yes.” Kitty nodded enthusiastically. “Bacon and cheese, and jalapenos. I don’t mind a little spice.” She felt normal. This was awesome.
Rikku hopped ahead in the line to order for them, getting sodas and some chili fries to split as well. She figured they could either go big or go home, and she wasn’t nearly done yet!
"I'm glad I'm not on a diet, we're breaking all the rules." Kitty didnt sound bothered by the idea.
“Please, we’ll walk off half of it by the time we’re done riding all the stuff we want to ride on!” Rikku took a swig of her soda, grinning as she handed Kitty hers.
"Thanks. You really didn't need to." She sucked hard on the straw. "And you're right. We'll work it off."
“We’re friends, of course I’m going to treat you sometimes.” Rikku grinned. It didn’t really mean too much to her, money. She would rather have an awesome time with her friend than have money.
Kitty smiled at her, warm and kind and happy. She looked away long enough to get her burger and - we'll she scarfed it down.
Rikku was no different, eating her food happily and quickly. Snarfing was something that all of the members of her family did well. People could tell that they’d been raised on a military base.
Maybe Kitty just wanted to get back to the fun. It was delicious, but eating food took time. She groaned as she licked her fingers. “Watch, now we’ll get cramps and...wow you can really pack it away!”
“Raised on bases,” Rikku laughed. She was tidy while she ate, at least? “Nah, you won’t get cramps. And water rides are usually gentle, aren’t they?”
“Usually, not always. Which branch?” she held out her arm for Rikku to take.
“Air Force, I was born on base in San Antonio.” Rikku took Kitty’s arm, snuggling close to her friend.
"What was it like? Moving around so much?" She must have had a hard time with friends.
“We didn’t move at all until Mom died,” Rikku smiled. It was a little strained, a little sad, but she was trying to mask that so Kitty wouldn’t know. “After that, Pops mostly took jobs over in Japan. We were in Guam for a couple of years.” She didn’t really say much of what it was like, but there wasn’t much to say. It was what people thought it was - lonely and long.
"I'm sorry." She pressed her cheek against Rikku's as they got in line again. "At least you got to see different places, right?"
“Oh, it’s okay! Brother and I got to be really close. And I learned Japanese?” Rikku laughed a little to herself. “I’m not the best at it, but I speak like a high schooler, or at least that’s what my teachers told me.”
"Japanese is a fun language,” Kitty said, in Japanese. She had this shit eating grin on her face.
Rikku laughed. ”When did you learn Japanese? Sneaky!”
“Logan taught me. He learned it when he lived there for a time.” It was half truth and sounded less insane than ‘I was possessed by an Oni in my dreams and learned that way.’
“Oh, wow, that’s really awesome! You’re so smart!” Rikku beamed and squeezed Kitty’s hand. She really was very impressed by her friend.
“Well, I am.” She switched back to English, and didn’t seem that humble. “But I don’t want to brag. Much.” She winked.
“Of course you are. I bet you speak a million languages,” Rikku said wistfully. She’d never really thought of herself as smart.
"Maybe a hundred-thousand. It's not hard once you start, and a lot of languages are similar." She peered at Rikku closely. "I could help you polish your Japanese if you want?"
“That would be awesome!” Rikku’s eyes went wide. “Thanks!” Plus, it would mean more time with Kitty.
"Anything else you'd want to learn? Computers mostly, and I did promise you can look at my bike." Kitty liked the idea of spending more time with Rikku. She was like a breath of fresh air.
The line moved up, and then it was time to get into the floating raft.
“I know enough about computers, but not a lot. Whatever you’d be able to teach me, I’d love it.” Rikku hugged Kitty before going into the little raft, high fiving the little kid to her left.
“And I did promise you a super sonic flight.” Kitty grinned and settled in. There was a fine mist from the water around them, and it was the sort of ride that would take them around and up and past water spouts, before dropping them off a waterfall. There was no way to avoid being soaked all the way through.
It was going to be awesome.
Rikku squeezed Kitty’s hand, squeaking the whole way. Every bounce made her laugh, and she grinned at Kitty. “Happy?”
“Yeah.” She glanced at Rikku and grinned. “You might wanna hold your breath for this part. I’m pretty sure we go under the water at the end!”
Green eyes went wide, and Rikku squinched her eyes shut. She took in a big gulp of air, puffing out her cheeks almost comically.
Kitty started gigging and barely remembered to hold her own breath before they were plunged down the cliff and into the water. It swirled around them in a cold mass, and Kitty felt her scalp prickling by the time they’d surfaced.
Once they were back on the surface, Rikku shook the water off like a dog, complete with making an indignant little growl. “That was awesome!”
Laughing, Kitty wrung out her shirt. It clung to her skin, revealing a black bra underneath. Because she’d had a brain fart when she’d dressed that day. “We should go again!”
“Can we just not get out?” Rikku stared without really realizing she was staring; but Kitty just looked ... pretty.
Kitty nodded her head, normally poofy hair sticking to her face and neck. It had grown out some, still a lot shorter than she was used to, but down to her shoulders now. “Yeah, lets just stay put.”
That made Rikku smile, and she waved goodbye to the little boy that had been sitting next to them. Soon there was another little kid sitting by her, and Rikku was asked by said kid to hold her hand. She did, promising the little kid that they’d all be fine. “See? My friend and I were on it once already, and we’re okay.”
"Yep!" Kitty nodded, taking Rikku's other hand. "We both got you!"
Rikku couldn’t help but beam; this was the most fun she’d had in years.
