Zelda needed some girly advice. She was surrounded by guys so often--Jack, Kol, her brother, Link--but when it came to the girl stuff she needed to find an outside source. Navi was one of her closest girl - friends, so she absolutely respected and admired the other girl. Navi was like an older sister, the one she’d always wanted but never had.
She showed up to the shop with some herbal tea--the kind she knew that Navi enjoyed, and a couple of chocolate chip muffins.
Navi was sprawled out on a chair in her office, flip flops off of her rather swollen feet. She was trying to get her laptop to balance on her stomach which was quite rounded. It wasn’t really working.
Zelda leaned through the open doorway and knocked on the door. "Hey there, sexy! How are you?"
“Swollen. I don’t really have feet anymore, I have balloons,” Navi laughed. “What are you up to?”
Zelda grinned, coming into the room. “Thought I’d spread a little cheer. Tea and chocolate chip muffins?” She said, offering up the bag and cup.
“My hero! You’ve come to distract me from work with sugar and tea!” Navi bounced up as best she could for being as far along as she was. “Come on in!”
Zelda laughed, moving into the room. “Sit, sit! Don’t be silly. You’ve got to rest those balloons.” She teased, and handed over the muffin and cup. “How are you feeling?”
“Oh my gosh, my feet aren’t feet anymore, look!” Navi held aloft a strange orbular thing that had once been a foot. “I’m sore, but that’s about it! How’re you?”
“I’m good! I need some advice.” Zelda said. She moved over and knelt down in front of her friend, then took the strange, oblong thing into her hands to start rubbing it. “...I think... I think I want to have sex with Link.” She went really, really, insanely pink at those words.
“Oh? What wi - oh.” Navi went pink too, biting her lip and giggling. “Does he know?”
"No," Zelda said, very shyly. "We haven't talked about it. I mean, I'm sure he doesn't want to make me feel uncomfortable. He's the best boyfriend in the world."
“You two are the cutest, oh my gosh.” Navi flailed a little with her hands, not moving her feet since they were being rubbed. “Honestly, I’d just tell him, though. You’re so pretty, I bet he wants to too.”
Zelda blushed. It was common for her to be called pretty, but this topic of conversation made her shy. "You think so? I mean... he doesn't like that Jack is living in my house with me now. But I've never been more sure about my feelings. I love him. I really do. So... should I... I don't even know how to start."
“You can’t go wrong with talking. And I know Link, and if he didn’t want to be around you, he just wouldn’t.” Navi trusted Link like no other man in the world. She even had a different bond with her own husband. “He’d just tell you that it wasn’t working out. He’s brave and true. He’ll tell you how he feels. Link doesn’t talk often, but when he does, it’s important.”
Zelda nodded. She was still rubbing Navi’s feet with a gentle touch, carefully and lovingly--as good friends do. “You think I should just tell him?” They hadn’t even said ‘I love you’ yet, though Zelda was really thinking about it.
“I think so, yeah.” Navi smiled. “You two are just ... “ Meant for each other. Fated. “Perfect.”
That made Zelda smile more warmly than she felt like she’d ever smiled in her life. She finally let go of Navi’s feet and leaned back against the desk a bit, still squatting on the floor. Her own foot was falling asleep now. “Thanks, Navi. I can’t tell you what that means to me.”
“I’m kind of protective over Link, you know. Sort of like his mom and big sister all rolled into one. If he’d been dating any other girl, I probably would’ve snooped on her, but you’ll take care of him.” Navi couldn’t wait until Link and Zelda finally had babies and stuff; she wanted to be an aunt in the worst way.
Zelda was rather pink at those words. “I would never hurt him. I hope you know that.” She responded, dead seriously. “I just want to be with him forever.”
“Oh, I know. It’s why I’ve never given you the riot act.” Navi smiled, reaching out to squeeze Zelda’s hand.
Zelda gave Navi’s hand a squeeze in return, smiling warmly. “You’re the best. Really. The absolute best.” She climbed up off the floor and wrapped her arms around her pregnant friend.
“Well, it’s only because you’re so awesome.” Navi gave Zelda as close of a hug as she could, what with the baby bumping rather enthusiastically at the movements its mother was making.
Zelda gasped when she felt the baby bump into her. “Wow! It’s like you’ve got an alien in there!” She said, backing up. “Can I...?” She lifted her hand up as if to touch Navi’s tummy. But she wanted permission first.
“Of course! And yeah, she’s excited,” Navi laughed. She lifted her shirt up a bit so the bump was exposed.
Zelda beamed, then tentatively lowered her hand to rest against Navi’s tummy. She gasped again. “Oh my gosh, that’s her moving?” She asked, letting her whole hand rest very lightly against the exposed bump.
“Yup! The way she kicks, I bet she really will end up a soccer star.” Navi chuckled, hands on her hips. “It’s cute now, but less so at three AM when I’m trying to sleep.”
“Oh, I can imagine! How does it feel? That doesn’t... hurt, does it?” Zelda wasn’t sure she ever wanted to get pregnant. How weird would that be??
“It doesn’t, it’s more like ... Thanksgiving, when I eat too much. Just super full of stuff.” Navi laughed; it wasn’t a very good explanation, but it’d do.
"Wow." Zelda was beaming. She removed her hand and nodded. "That's just... completely amazing."
“It’ll be more amazing when she’s born. Two more months,” Navi beamed.
"That's right!" Zelda grinned. "You have to tell me when it's a good day for your shower."
“Oh, whenever. I probably won’t be able to come up here much anymore anyway with my stupid feet.” Navi wiggled her toes.
Zelda laughed. "Okay, and a guest list? Email me names and addresses of your loved ones?"
“I can do that! I have a list at home.” Navi was prepared for all instances.
“Great!” Zelda brought her hand over to Navi’s shoulder and gave it a gentle squeeze. “You enjoy your muffin. I’ll get that party started. And please don’t work too hard, all right?” She said, then moved around to the doorway and gave her friend a wave. “You know where I am in case you need anything.”
“I do. And Zellie? Thank you. Thanks for being my friend and for being perfect for Link.” Navi hugged her friend again, feeling a rush of tears to her eyes. It was partly hormones, sure, but more than anything else, it was genuine. She really did love Zelda and Link both.
Zelda nodded. She returned the hug, tightly, and felt her own wave of emotion well up. She released her friend, then turned to head out of the shop. Not only was she planning to seduce the guy she loved, but she had Baby shower planning to do.
