Billy Batson was tired. In addition to breaking his leg weeks ago now, and now healed, and feeling odd about it, he had found he was going through a growth spurt as well. He ached and felt itchy and tired in his own body. With the Dreams happening now too, it was weird.
So he had gone out clothing shopping, glad he had just gotten a slimmer cast, and was now wandering, unsure what he wanted to do, slowly walking on a pair of crutches. He wore clothing he had foolishly let a saleswoman pick out for him, and they were very form fitting, and unbeknownst to him, a feminine cut.
The rest was packed up in his backpack, slung over his back.
Bellatrix was out and about, her expression morose. She was sick of life, sick of herself, and who she was turning into. Of the things she was doing and the people she was hurting. She needed to turn herself around. She didn’t know how to. She bumped into somebody and snapped. “Watch it!”
Billy reached out a hand, instinctively to stabilize her and spoke softly. “Are you okay? Sorry,. ma’am.” His smile was warm, utterly unsexual, and entirely concerned with her wellbeing.
He was worried he had jostled her, somehow. Or hurt her.
She slapped away his hand and took a step back. “Just watch where you’re goin’, you little bloody brat!” She sighed and pushed her finger at her face. “Ugh. I’m terribly sorry.”
He blinked, then nodded. “Sorry about that. Guess I’m more tired than I thought. I should have been watching out though.” He offered her a gentle smile. “Been a long day for you, too?”
“..you could say that,” she replied, eyeing him a little distrustfully. He didn’t seem that old, but looks could be deceiving. Or maybe she didn’t care. “I’m havin’ some issues.”
“I’m sorry. Is there anything I can do?” Billy was smiling warmly now, and his concern showed in his face and eyes. “I’ve had a few issues before, but I think I’ve been lucky, and they’ve never been too bad.”
"You can bugger off," she hissed. Why was this brat being friendly to her? She didn’t deserve to be friendly to!
“If that’s what you want, sure. I’m sorry.” He smiled to her. And he pulled out a small card. “If you ever want to just talk, or hang out, let me know.” Everyone needed help some times, and Billy believed in trying, no matter what., His smile was warm and friendly as he extended the card.
Bellatrix stared at the boy like he was a little crazy in the head. She eyed the card, then the boy, then levitated the card over with a wordless spell. “Be careful who you befriend, boy.”
Billy grinned. “I probably should yes. But I’ve never been very good about being careful, ma’am.” He offered her a nod and then bowed to her. “Now, if you still want me to, I’ll bugger off, and not bother you any more.”
“Yeah, you do that,” she snapped, and turned to storm away before she did something terrible. Her wand had somehow found it’s way to her hand.
Billy blinked and watched her go, then nodded. Okay then. He turned and headed off toward home.
