She looked at him, then, some of the uncertainty returning.
"It's been more than a decade since I allowed myself to entertain the idea of trusting another, trusting the world I live in. I see others going about their day, and I can watch them for hours. But sometimes I forget to breathe, forget I'm meant to be doing the same, that I'm meant to live."
She looked down again, voice quiet, "Too often, I have to be reminded."
