Pansy had a box and was sitting in front of the shelf where they kept all the video games. She wasn’t even sure where to start. She had enough gift cards for Best Buy that she should probably just buy up a bunch of new games, but she could also do with cleaning some of these out for Zuko and Draco. Besides, they weren’t going to play them all, were they?
She picked up a Mario game and set it in one pile, then Call of Duty and set it in another.
“Need help?” Zuko appeared in the doorway from the kitchen, holding one of those bottles of too-girly drinks that he was so fond of. He wasn’t sure what Pansy was doing, but it looked quite a bit like packing. He could help with that. And he was bored. So.
It looked quite a bit like packing because that’s what it was. Zuko was a rather perceptive boy, wasn’t he? She gave him a little grin. “Trying to get rid of me, are you? I see how it is.”
Truly he was. Just the most clever of them all, really. His mother had told him so, so it must have been true.
“Yes, well, I had designs to have your brother fuck me on the couch sometime in the next decade. So, you know. You could either move out or be gone from five to eight pm tonight. Up to you.” Zuko? Was a sassy motherfucker.
“Oh, God,” Pansy made a terrible face, and turned away from him. She lifted both hands to wave in the air, as if she could make those couple of sentences go away simply by waving at them. “Jesus, Z, you have to say shit like that? God. Damn. It’s bad enough you’re doing it, just don’t talk about it. I’m his sister, for fuck’s sake.”
Zuko blinked, and then smiled a smile that was more devious than most might usually give him credit for. “Just saying,” he murmured before moving further into the room in order to glance at the piles of games she was making. “So. Need help?”
“Sure.” She glanced at the bottle he was carrying, then back up to him. “How much of this are you going to remember tomorrow, anyway?” She asked, teasing a little. “Also, how many do I need to drink to catch up?”
“At least a many,” Zuko said, because if he had to be honest, he was a little drunk. Maybe not as much as he was implying, but still. “And I’ll remember at least the parts where I embarrass myself. It’ll make Draco laugh later.” Which was his favorite pastime.
That happened, Pansy found. She loved to pretend to be more drunk than she was. It was more funnerer that way. “Gimme that, then.” She said, then reached over and took hold of Zuko’s bottle to steal a sip. Hey, she was his sister now. She could do shit like that.
“Good. He needs a good laugh. Anyway,” she added after gulping down some of the sweet stuff. “I’m taking some of these games with me, and leaving some behind. Help me choose which ones you want to keep.”
“Oh,” Zuko said, taking his drink back with a look that wasn’t as offended as it should have been (she was the one who usually bought them, after all). He settled himself down on the floor next to her and looked over the games thoughtfully. “Take all the first person shooters.” God, he hated those.
“Okay,” Pansy said, and started sorting those out. That was a pretty easy way of deciding. “What about the RPGs? I’ve got like, all the Final Fantasy ones here.” She said, pulling more games off the shelf. “I bet you’d like the ones with Mickey Mouse.”
“I dunno. Leave if if you think I’d like and you don’t wanna play it soon? Not like you can’t come get it again. Or like I couldn’t just buy a new one.” He was kind of getting into the games lately, but he could afford more even if she just wanted to take them all.
She still had those gift cards from over Christmas. She could buy new ones, too, but this was to save them both the hassle. "Ok. I'll leave Kingdom Hearts, and FFX. If you like it, there are more." She started sorting them into the piles. "Mario Kart is for you, and the Wii Sports games."
Zuko only smiled at that, sipping at his drink and lazily looking over the games she was talking about. “Did you guys find a place yet?”
"Yeah. It's not far. We get the keys on July first." Pansy didn't really care how far it was. Now she could apparate she didn't need to drive anymore, anyway. Moving was going to take considerably less time now she could just pop back and forth with boxes in her arms.
"Don't worry. I'll still keep your fridge stocked with girly drinks." She teased, grinning.
Zuko rolled his eyes at that, but didn’t seem particularly offended. “And I was starting to worry about that,” he said wryly. He hadn’t been. He might not have been twenty-one, but he certainly had an ID that said he was. “Is cool you found a place though. That’s good.”
“Yeah, it’s a nice place. Peter has enough money coming in from his job at Stark, and you know I’ve got plenty. So we can afford a nice place.” Pansy said, giving a little nod. She wasn’t twenty-one, either, but she had connections. She almost never needed an ID. ...well, and now she had Peter. He was old enough to bring home booze.
"Yeah, I know." Similarly, zuko didn't really need to work in order to pay rent. It was bad to say, but really he'd never be wanting especially now that his father was dead. "Are you going to have a housewarming party?"
“I don’t know.” Pansy said, looking a little surprised. She hadn’t even thought of it. “Maybe? I’ll have to ask Peter if he has something in mind.” She broke into a smile. It was going to be absolutely amazing to wake up next to him every morning and cook together, play together, even argue over chores. She was pretty excited about it.
It was a pretty nice thing. Zuko felt similarly about Draco, after all. Except the arguing over chores bit. Sorry, but Draco had practical magic, there was no point in arguing over something that could be done with the flick of a wand.
“No big deal,” he said. “Was just curious.”
Well, that was a good point. Pansy hadn’t quite started to do chores with her magic. Hopefully someone would suggest it to her one day so she’d have a forehead slapping moment before starting to take short-cuts. The magical kind of short cuts.
“You just want an excuse to hang out and drink girly drinks and play video games and eat Doritos,” Pansy teased. “Oh, wait, that’s me.”
“That is you,” Zuko agreed, rolling his eyes. “Doritos are weird.” He was not going to be the person to suggest cleaning with magic. Because he didn’t do magic, and he just assumed she knew how to do everything that Draco did. Or thought to do it, anyway. Hard to say.
“But, yes. The girly drinks. I’m always looking for an excuse for those.”
"Whatchoo talkin' 'bout? Doritos are delicious." Pansy said, grinning brightly. "Well, anyway, we can agree on the girly drinks and that's the important part." She gave him a wink and put another game in the 'leave here' pile.
“They don’t even taste like cheese. They taste like... doritos.” Why didn’t anyone else think that was weird? Zuko shrugged and gave a half sort of smile before finishing his drink off and standing up. “You seem like you’ve got a handle on this.”
“They’re not supposed to taste like cheese.” Pansy said, shaking her head a little as if Zuko was just plain insane. But she was grinning a bit, too. “Yeah, I do. I’ll leave you with the good ones.” She added one more game to her stack.
They were supposed to taste like cheese. It said so on the bag. Zuko made a face, but didn’t argue the point. Sometimes, you just shouldn’t. “Appreciated,” he said with a grin. “I’ll be drinking and reading in the kitchen if you actually need help with anything.”
No, they were supposed to taste like Doritos! But, anyway... the girly drinks were the most important part of the conversation, anyway. “I’ll give you a holler.” She said, giving him a grin. “Go on, go get drunk and shag my brother. I’ll just be in here with my headphones on, sorting through dvds.”
The shagging part hadn’t been on the agenda, but now that she’d mentioned it... Zuko’s only response to that was a very cheeky grin, indeed.
