Jubilee was scaling the outside of Azula's apartment. She hadn't quite believed her friend when she said everything was fine and decided to check it out for herself. Hence why she was hanging outside the window two stories off the ground and trying to peek in.
Completely oblivious to the fact that there was someone peeking in her window, Ty Lee was stripping. It had been an extremely long day of taking care of Azula, but she'd skipped practice and she wanted to at least get some exercising in before bed. She couldn't do that in the outfit she'd BEEN wearing, that was for sure. It was far too nice for that.
Azula had insisted upon her wearing a business suit, just in case she was caught on tape at some point or another. She could easily pass for an office assistant or other form of minion, but only if she dressed nicely.
Jubilee tilted her head, then rapped lightly on the window. She didn't see Azula so she figured it was safe! She wanted to get in while Ty Lee was naked. To look for bruises. No really!
The rap at the window startled her, and she jumped a bit, then twirled around to see where the noise was coming from. When she realised it was Jubilee, she shook her head over the whole thing, and marched over to her window.
She opened it quickly and put a hand on each hip, with mock anger, "What are you doing peeking in my window?"
Jubilee hissed under her breath, "Making sure you're ALIVE yo!"
She scrambled inside, landing in a soft lump at the foot of the window.
Ty Lee looked down at her and giggled, "I'm FINE. And obviously alive, I texted you didn't I?"
She paused for a second, taking in what Jubilee was wearing, "You're wearing a banana yellow jacket with skin tight black... to sneak into Azula's condo. You don't think she would have noticed the yellow?"
"It's like the Gorilla," Jubilee replied cryptically. She immediately started turning Ty Lee around and around, checking for bruising or cuts or anything else she needed to worry about.
The only bruises were obviously old and related to gymnastics activities. Ty Lee obliged her, even lifting her arms a bit so that Jubilee could get a better look at her sides and everything, "I told you she didn't hit me."
"Just you've never been sick...And she's like bondage lady."
Ty Lee eyedarted, "Okay, I wasn't sick. But I was really tired and I had to stay home, but I can't tell you why."
Jubilee folded her arms, still staring at Ty Lee's body, "Uh huh..."
"Because I promised I wouldn't say." Ty Lee smiled at Jubilee like everything was totally normal, "It's really no big deal, I'll probably be at practice tomorrow."
"Why're you naked? And the suit?" She pointed at Ty Lee, then the suit on the chair. Like this was somehow proof of SOMETHING but she wasn't sure what that something WAS. And where was Azula? Jubilee started bouncing foot to foot.
"Because I was changing out of the suit to do some exercising? And... Well, because Azula used me as an office minion today." Ty Lee shrugged, like Jubilee was taking all of this and blowing it out of proportion.
"Office minion?!"
Jubilee pointed! "She IS using you!" She was aware she was blowing this out of proportion, but she didn't really..okay she had to. Ty Lee was her friend!
"She NEEDED me! I volunteered!" Ty Lee winced, "Don't shout, she's sleeping and you'll wake her up, she really needs rest."
"She needs rest?" Jubilee quieted down, sitting on the edge of the bed and fidgeting with the cover, "I'm sorry. The Hotness is being dumb."
"You're being a great friend," Ty Lee corrected, back to being smiley and upbeat. She pulled on some yoga pants and a tank top, "I know you're worried she'll hurt me. I swear if it ever gets bad I'll leave."
She wanted to explain everything, but she couldn't. She forced her frustration over it far, far inside her, while wishing that Azula didn't need to be so perfect all the time.
"Do you want a water or something?"
"Yeah, I should drink something since I came out all this way."Jubilee ran her hands through her hair, shaking it out a bit, "I know you want to see the best in people....She just makes that so hard."
"She really does, but I think that's on purpose." Ty Lee lead Jubes out of her room and into the kitchen. The maid service had spent a good part of the morning scrubbing the blood off the tile, vacuuming up broken glass, and trying to clean up the rug. With a new, plush oriental rug laid out in the living room, no one would even have known what happened the night before.
She pulled open a gigantic fridge door and peeked into it, "We've got water, more water, bottled smoothies, juice... mangos?"
"That's it?" Jubilee peered around Ty Lee's shoulder and into the fridge. She'd never been inside the condo before. It was plush, and huge. Her entire studio apartment could fit in the kitchen, she swore to god.
"I guess just water. Wouldn't want to steal Princess Bitchy's smoothies."
The fridge was pretty well stocked with food, actually, though it was clear from how clean it was and how well arranged everything was that someone probably did the shopping for them, as well as the bulk of food preparation.
"What were you expecting?" Ty Lee giggled, and got out some bottles of water, "A bunch of beers or something?"
She got them some glasses and filled them with ice, "Azula doesn't really allow junk food in the house. Those smoothies are mine, though!"
"Actually, yes." Jubilee figured with Azula's daddy being so rich she could get away with alcohol. But this was also Azula we're talking about. Beer was probably beneath her, "Really?"
She reached into her coat pocket and pulled out some candy, shoving it into Ty Lee's hand.
There was a bar for the alcohol, and it was well stocked with high class, top shelf liquor. But Ty Lee never drank that stuff, and if Azula drank it then it was likely not in Ty Lee's presence. She figured it was mostly for show, though she planned on hitting it up to celebrate if she brought home some medals.
Candy! Ty Lee bounced in place a bit and then hugged Jubilee, "You're awesome. I'll have to hide this somewhere and save it for when I really need it."
"You sure you'll be okay?" She squeezed Ty Lee's hand with the candy, then hugged her back, "Seriously worried sick!"
"I really wish you'd stop worrying so much. You're making ME worry about YOU because of all the worrying! You're going to give yourself an ulcer or something."
Jubilee laughed quietly, "Okay okay I'll work on the worrying!"
"You better!" Ty Lee took a sip of her water, "It was really sweet of you to come over here though."
"Yes, do call ahead next time, so I can properly greet our guests." Azula stood in the kitchen doorway, leaning against the frame in a way that helpfully obscurred her right arm.
Jubilee froze, half way through taking a drink from her bottle, staring at Azula while slowly draining the entire bottle. All of it. Without stopping. Because Azula was standing there.
Busted.
She put the now empty bottle in the trash, and grinned at her, "Heya! I was just filling her in on the training schedule!" And once Kitty found a dojo, their martial arts schedule, but that was neither here nor there and Azula didn't need to know. Ty Lee could keep some secrets, right?
Only Azula already knew. She does read the net after all. She was just choosing to ignore it - and see if Ty Lee told her herself, "I didn't hear the door."Fuck Crap. What was Azula doing awake? She'd taken her painkiller and been tucked into bed and everything. Why did she feel like she was a child who'd cut class to hang out with her friends, only to be caught by the principal? She wasn't really doing anything wrong.
"We were trying to be quiet so that you could get your rest, I'm sorry if we woke you up," Ty Lee looked at her pointedly, "You have that big presentation tomorrow..."
"Keep it down then." Azula didn't take her eyes off of Jubilee. She would have done something possessive of Ty Lee, but she was too far away. No matter.
Jubilee stared her down, and folded her arms, "We'll keep it down. Go back to bed."
"I was getting some water. I can't get some water in my own home?" Azula's eyes moved over to Ty Lee in a silent plea. Except Azula never pleaded for anything with every one.
"I thought we were keeping it down," Ty Lee frowned momentarily, then headed over to the fridge and pulled out a water. She knew that Azula didn't want to come and get it herself because reasons, and there was a very small ungrateful part of her that wanted to make Azula come get it herself.
But that small part got squished and the smile came back like sunshine after a rainshower. She got out a glass and filled it with ice, then poured the water into the glass for her. Casually, like this was something she did every day and had nothing to do with the fact that Azula couldn't open her own water.
She took it over to Azula while glancing at Jubilee like 'please don't start anything', and handed it to her, "There you go!"
Jubilee's eyes were narrowed, but she didn't say anything. She was sure as hell thinking it.
Azula took the glass, actually a bit grateful that she didn't have to try to open a bottle. She wasn't sure she could right now. She smiled thinly, "Thank you."
Then she glanced back over at Jubilee and returned the hated look with an amused 'you don't bother me' look of her own.
"You're welcome! We'll head out to the pool so that we don't wake you up again." Ty Lee grabbed Jubes' arm and started dragging her in that direction.
Azula watched them go, while Jubilee gave her the 'watching you' fingers.
"I don't have a swimsuit." Jubilee let herself be pulled along.
"We're not actually going to swim, silly. We can just sit and talk."
"Oh." Jubilee looked a little disappointed, but perched on a beach chair and got comfortable none-the-less, "Why do you let her order you like that?"
"Well..." Ty Lee curled up on a beach chair near her, "Mainly because with Azula, you really have to pick your battles."
"You should stand up for yourself." Jubilee gazed up at the stars, and sighed, "Maybe she'd respect you more."
"She doesn't need to respect me, she doesn't even respect herself."
Jubilee blinked, "The girl has a superiority complex, of COURSE she respects herself!"
"No, she doesn't respect herself." Ty Lee said, a bit more quietly than usual. She flopped back in her chair and looked up at the stars, too, "If she did, a lot of things in her life would be different, I think."
"I'm not sure I get it," Jubilee admitted. "Why do you think she doesn't respect herself?"
"Everything she does is for someone else. The health food, keeping her body in perfect condition, the work she does, all of it. It's never about what she wanted or what she sees in herself or how she's come to respect who she really is. The one thing she picks for herself is hiding behind layers of leather and pretending she isn't herself, too."
It was very insightful. Most people could take one look at Ty Lee and never believe she could pick up that much, or anything even a little close to it. Jubilee would never have guessed herself, if she hadn't had deep thoughts of her own, lately.
"She's not even in as much control as she believes, yo. Guy she's got strapped down says the code word and she has to stop." Jubilee used to write a lot of pervy fics, so she had an unusual array of knowledge.
"It's just funny because you'd think that most of her life is about power. But in the end, she doesn't actually have any. I think it gets to her, but she doesn't know how to escape that, or even if she wants to." Ty Lee shrugged, "It's easy to order me around, because then she's in charge. I let her because I don't really care. Until it matters."
"She's my friend, and she really needs me. I mean I'm not just making that up because of stock-whatever-thing."
Kitty would know what it was called. Jubilee didn't feel like looking it up, "I guess. It just doesn't sound very healthy for either of you."
"It probably isn't. But I like to think I get through to her sometimes."
Jubilee looked like she didn't really believe her, but she said nothing. Maybe she just needed to keep the peace
