"How well do bunnies get along with ghosts?"
Who: Alice, Fluttershy, Dinah and Angel
What: Random conversations on the bus
When: Probably after Dani's party
Where: Bus
Status: Complete
Rating: PG for homeless ghosts
Alice was riding a bus. She wasn't sure why she was riding a bus, except she felt like it and Dinah had wanted to go out. And well it would be nutters to not listen to her cat, after all. Dinah was batting at the hair of the person in front of them.
The hair was blonde and wavy, and attached to the head of a girl who was, at the moment, clutching a bunny tightly to her chest. The leash normally attached to the rabbit had been coiled around her wrist, and she was trying desperately to ignore that something was messing with her hair.
If Fluttershy was capable of actually hating anything, she'd hate public transportation. But taking a bus was much better than trying to ride a bike or drive, herself.
"Dinah. Leave her hair alone. Or bring me some." Alice grinned, stroking the cat's head. "The bunny isn't for supper."
Aaaaah! Fluttershy wanted to scream at the very idea of eating her rabbit for dinner, but all that really escaped her mouth was a low pitched squeak.
"Bunnies aren't for eating!" She finally exclaimed. Which, for her, was a natural speaking voice instead of the usual whisper. She turned around a bit to get a look at the person who owned the cat in question, "I mean, I agree, yes, bunnies are not ever for supper, especially not this one."
"You're on the bus with a rabbit," Alice replied, ignoring that there was a cat on her shoulder, perched like some sort of feline vulture. "Is he late?"
"Not... especially... I don't think... Uhm..." Fluttershy ducked down a bit, like trying to hide under the bench would make this conversation and the person having it with her go away. Why did these things always happen when she took the bus?
The other person had a cat though, maybe she wasn't so bad...
"He should be wearing a waistcoat." Alice scritched Angel on the top of the head, "Hopefully he doesn't get smushed."
"I ..." Fluttershy trailed off to another squeak, then poked her head back up above the booth a bit to look at her, "I actually ... uhm... I make those. I thought I was the only person who wanted to put rabbits in adorable clothing."
"I'm a good friend with one." Alice gave her a smile. It was a little crazed, "He has a pocket watch."
"Oh ... okay..." Fluttershy looked just slightly terrified.
"Don't worry, I won't stab you in the testicles." She held her hand out, "I'm Alice."
"But I don't have any testicles." The blonde timidly took Alice's hand, gently bobbing it in a downward direction before letting it go again, "I'm ... uhm... Minerva, or Fluttershy. I like them both, but Fluttershy's just a nickname."
This woman didn't seem safe at all and Fluttershy wasn't sure why she was even speaking to her.
"Ovaries then." Alice nodded her head, as if that made sense. She didn't really discriminate in who she wanted to stab, but this woman seemed harmless, "Fluttershy."
"I like butterflies?" Fluttershy figured that explained everything. She wasn't even going to address the ovary thing. She glanced out the bus window, to see if this maybe was her stop. Was it her stop? Please?
But no, it wasn't her stop.
"I love Wonderland but you don't see people calling me Hatter." Well, she was mad as one anyway, but that was besides the point.
"Well ... oh... no, of course not, but they call you Alice, don't they?"
"Yes."
"So that's... if you don't mind my saying, better than call you Hatter."
"Alice is my name," She gave her a 'like duh' look, "It's a better name than Fluttershy."
Fluttershy frowned, "I ... okay..."
"What is the rabbit's name?" Alice leaned forward, peering at the rabbit again, like the rabbit could tell her it's name.
"Oh this is Angel!" Fluttershy's frown turned back into a half-nervous smile, and she held him up for Alice to look at, "He's very pleased to meet you."
"Pleased to meet you too, Angel." Alice took his paw and shook it.
At that, Fluttershy giggled a bit.
Angel was a most adorable bunny, Alice thought. She wanted to take him home, "How well do bunnies get along with ghosts?"
"I don't know, I've never had any ghosts for customers!" Fluttershy looked terrified by the idea of that ever happening, "There isn't one around here, is there?"
Alice pointed at an empty bus seat.
And with that comment, Fluttershy squeaked and ducked back under her bench.
"He won't hurt you. I think he was a homeless man." Alice waved at the homeless ghost. "He probably died over the winter."
Fluttershy squeaked in response. She wasn't moving, not one inch! First the odd lady with her cat and now homeless men ghosts? She was deathly afraid of ghosts!
Alice poked Fluttershy in the shoulder, "Are you the bunny girl from the net?"
The girl jumped a bit, not expecting anyone to be touching her and half afraid it was the ghost until Alice's voice could be heard, "... you scared me. If you don't mind, could you please... stop doing that?"
"...touching you?"
"Scaring me... if it wouldn't be too much trouble... I just want to go home and take care of my kittens and bunnies and relax. I ... really hope that your ghost friend doesn't follow me home. Could you tell him that?" She sounded completely serious.
"Sir, please don't follow Fluttershy home. Yes, I know. But I know this place...." Alice nodded her head, "Very good."
"Thank you very much," Fluttershy whispered, and slowly got back into her seat. Angel's nose was twitching furiously, and it was entirely possible that the poor rabbit had been starved for air while being clutched so tightly, "Oh I'm so sorry, Angel..."
"I pointed him to some bad men to haunt," Alice assured her. She sat back in her seat and absently stroked her pussy..cat.
"I am the girl with the bunnies, though. I sold a few after that post, but there's still so many of them."
Alice looked thoughtful, "I'd like to buy a bunny for a friend."
"Oh... bunnies make excellent gifts!" Fluttershy nodded, "They're cute and soft and fuzzy and fun!"
"Well she's not the..soft and fuzzy type. But it might do her some good. Yes, a rabbit would do Aveline a world of good!"
"Oh but sometimes it's the people who aren't the soft and fuzzy type that most need something soft and fuzzy IN their lives!" Fluttershy was happy to be on the topic of animals instead of scary ghosts, "I'm sure she'd love it, and it'll be good for her, too."
"Maybe. Where's your shop?" At the very least she can get cat treats for Dinah. And a box for her to play in!
"It's at that one mall over in Huntington Beach. The Bella Terra."
Alice looked at her blankly.
Fluttershy blinked at her a few times, then tilted her head to the side and started giving out directions as to which bus lines stopped there.
"Thank you." She knew how to get there even if she had no idea where it was!
Such was the magic of bus lines!
"Where is your stop?"
"... about 5 stops ago, I think..." Fluttershy smiled sheepishly.
"You're an odd one. I should walk you back to your stop. I carry a knife."
"Oh that's... so very nice of you to offer, but I think I'll just sit on the bus until it circles back around. It's really no bother at all and I don't want to inconvenience you."
"Someone might attack you." Alice looked like she was going to stay put and she'd not take any argument about it!
"No one's attacked me before... well there was this man who was rude and scary about my rabbit, but I just rode the bus until he left."
The memory of that incident made her hug Angel to her again, protectively.
Alice shrugged, and got up as the bus reached her stop, "Don't blame me of you are attacked and brutally stabbed in the ovaries."
The look Alice got in reply was priceless, really. Fluttershy had worked both of her hands up into her hair at the thought of being attacked and brutally stabbed in the ovaries, and there was another squeak of fear.
With a shrug Alice and her cat got off the bus!
Fluttershy stayed on it until it swung back around again, with that expression on her face for most of the ride.
