"I can’t sense you. Can’t sense the winds..." Who: Tenoh Haruka and Kaioh Michiru What: During the power loss thing, their link died. It wasn't fun. When: 7th June Where: Their place Rating: PG13 just for the unpleasantness of it all. Status: Complete.
It had been quite a long month, and recently an even longer week. Michiru felt ill and it was showing. A little bit of a fever, but nothing too severe by her standards. Haruka had been protective and attentive as ever and it took quite a bit of convincing to get her to actually promise to leave the following morning to go check on Gwen and the preparations with Rarity in her place.
For now she would just sleep while her lover was away, unaware of certain connections breaking at all. She was asleep, how could she have noticed other than the slight emptiness on her dreams. Other than that she was oblivious and content to just sleep.
Said connection breaking had definitely come at an inopportune time. Haruka had made her excuses to get away from... whatever the hell it’d been, she could already barely remember. Her mind too focused on the sudden absence of that link that she and Michiru had come to rely on.
The last time this’d happened... God, no, she couldn’t think of that.
It took her three attempts to get the door open, largely because her hands were shaking that much. This wasn’t doing her mental state any favours. “Michiru?”
The green haired woman was still very much fast asleep and pushed into the pillow. She was sick, yes, but was still able to stay comfortable. If she had felt her lover’s distress, it would have woken her, but for now there were her usual tiny breathes that seemed to not be there, and not moving.
Well, this was a fantastic start. Willing herself to keep calm, Haruka quickly moved upstairs, to their bedroom... and the relief she felt on seeing her was damn-near overwhelming. It was one good thing, at least...
Should she wake her? She wasn’t sure at all...
Michiru let out a little contented noise and snuggled down into the blankets until a certain pair of kitties decided to jump on her, said kitties being Mana and Nyx. She yawned and rolled over and opened one eye. “Morning to you too...” She didn’t sense Haruka there and hadn’t seen when she was between the sudden cat nuzzles to her face. “Oi... Oi I’m up. I’m up. Has no one fed you two?”
When she sat up she noticed Haruka and smiled before her face dropped at the realisation of it being missing as well. “...Haruka?”
“You can feel it too, can’t you? ...Or not feel it, as the case might be.” It was more terrible than Haruka had first assumed it’d be. A gaping emptiness in her mind where, usually, she could sense her lover without even thinking about it.
It was no wonder her first reaction had been to panic.
“Why...” Her chest began to move faster as her breathing became more ragging and fast paced. Why was it gone? What was going on? Michiru pushed the cats away and stood up to go to her, hoping that touching her would fix it... When it didn’t she bit her lip and became even more desperate for touch. “Haruka! Why is it not there?!”
“I don’t know, Michiru... I wish I did.” Even without the link, her lover’s distress was more than obvious. Haruka was quick to move over to her, gently pulling her into her arms - the contact was needed by this point. “I can’t sense you. Can’t sense the winds... something’s wrong. Very wrong.”
How had they ever coped, being powerless like this? It was painful.
“I don’t like this... I feel so... empty. Oh, Haruka, I don’t like this at all.” Without the warm pull in her mind that her love continued to breathing, she was terrified and it must be obvious that she is shaking like mad. “Oh Haruka...” Began to sob and put her face into her chest.
“I’m here, Michiru... I’ll stay right here until our powers return.” Like hell was Haruka going to allow things to be risked, allow Michiru to potentially be put in danger. She wasn’t going to allow the two of them to be separated. “I wish I knew what’s going on...”
Breathed heavily and just pushed closer, starting to feel ill from crying so hard. Her breathing too heavy and she felt rather faint. Mostly because ill to begin with and should really lay down. She gripped tight to her shoulders and tried not to fall back.
Of course, Haruka was quick to support her that little bit better - even without the link, she knew the way her lover’s body moved, knew when she was feeling weak. “I won’t let you fall, Michiru. It’s okay...”
“Is this a dream... Or rather a nightmare?” The supporting of her was pleasant, even as she couldn’t feel her entirely. “Oh Haruka make it stop. Make the connection come back.”
A nightmare, perhaps... unless this was happening to more than just them. They’d have to contact Setsuna at some point and ask. “I’m completely powerless, Michiru... can’t even run as fast.”
Michiru picked up her mirror and... nothing. There was nothing. “Oh... This is not right. What if something happens?”
Haruka could only shrug. “I can’t get the sheath off the Space Sword... hopefully, if anyone’s planning anything, they won’t have any powers either...”
They were still physically strong, obviously. That didn’t come only from their powers.
And she had been relying on her powers so much for healing that the ill was taking a bit more of a hold than usual. As such she went limp against the bed, barely catching herself.
It was a good thing that Haruka wasn't ill, then. For however long this lasted, she'd take care of her... she didn't want to risk anything more.
