Who: Ginny, Fred and George Weasley
When: early June
Where: Their shop to start
What: Pranks and hanging out
Warnings/Ratings: Low
”Oi, where are my annoying brothers at?” Ginny called rather loudly as she let herself into their shop glad to see that it was relatively empty in the early hours. Her director had been nice in the sense he had given them a random day off and she figured she would drop by and see her brothers. They had told her it had been too long since they had spent any real time together. That and she did owe them for that prank while they went camping the weekend before.
“I mean if they’re not here I can always start helping myself to the merchandise or maybe I will just rearrange their entire store just to annoy them...” That was sure to catch their attention.
As if their attention wouldn’t have just been caught by someone walking into their shop? Come one Ginny, what do you think this is? Government work?
George’s head appeared from the aisles, and his smile was bright as ever. “Oi, Fred,” he called it -- the other twin was actually getting some work done in the back for once. “We’ve a visitor!”
“Do we like our visitor?” Fred called back, loud, a bit obnoxious.
“Only sometimes!” George replied. But he’d also made his way to Ginny by then and smashed her up into a hug.
“The feeling is mutual, big brother.” Ginny teased lightly but she returned his hug tightly. “Though you have to admit I am your favorite little sister!” If only by default because she was their only sister. It was a nice position to be in though as long as they weren’t chasing off potential boyfriends or anything. Then again most guys were intimidated away by learning she had not only one or two, but six older brothers.
“And no I am not here to be your tester for any new products,” a role she had learned long ago she didn’t want.
Potential guys should be concerned about Ginny having six older brothers. Mostly, though, they should have been a bit more concerned about the twins. Clearly, their little sister was too good for dating. Also a little sister, and therefore not allowed to date. Little sisters just weren’t meant to do that kind of thing.
“That’s a shame,” George said, pouting.
“We’d really been hoping you’d try out our new itching powder, too.” Fred had appeared, and did not spare Ginny a hair ruffling.
Ginny grinned at her brothers. “Sorry to disappoint but I have an awful busy schedule and there is no room for testing itching powder,” she told them with a grin that her mum always told her reminded her too much of her twin brothers. They were cut out of the same cloth, the three of them, even if she wasn’t quite known for pulling the pranks they did. It didn’t mean she couldn’t.
“I hear Ron has some free time though so we could always sneak it into his clothes or something.”
They were very alike. The difference was probably more in the fact that Ginny used her wit and charm for things that were a little more productive than they did. Well, sort of. They did own a business these days. But still. She was an actress!
“Ron’s always got free time,” Fred rolled his eyes, and George gave an agreeable nod. “Lazy sod.”
One of the twins wandered off in the back office only to reappear a minute later with cans of soda. “Here, refreshments. It’s not poisoned, swear.” Grin. “Now catch us up with your amazing life, Gin. We didn’t talk much on our camping expedition.” They’d all been a bit busy.
Ginny turned the can over and examined it closely looking for any signs of foul play, more for sport than out of actual concern. "Is this where you tell me you shook it up before giving it to me?" Again, she really wasn't concerned.
"Just have a few auditions coming up. Not too exciting though I think I want to try out for a movie role next. Television is great but movies would be even better." It had never been her intention to stick with the small screen.
The twins moved to boost themselves up on the countertop of the register -- really it was their favorite place to sit. George was nodding and sipping his soda, and pointedly ignoring his cruel, cruel accusations of their villainy.
Fred just seemed amused. “Oi, yeah. You know, I’m a bit excited at the idea of seeing your face on a thirty foot screen. Hopefully something good. Then you can make it big, and buy us things and we can retire and drive escalades and - you know. Stuff.”
“I know I’ll have to make sure my face is pretty enough to be on a screen that big,” she joked lightly. It would be something to see herself on a movie screen and to be able to drag her family and friends to see the movie. “Right, stuff for my favorite brothers so they can show off to their friends. I’ll add it to my Christmas list. How’s that?”
“Seems good enough,” George said with an indulgent sigh before leaning forward to ruffle her hair a bit.
“Speaking of,” Fred said, but really he wasn’t going to be on topic at all. No one should have been surprised at all. “We like your car. It’s right adorable.”
Ginny shot her brother a look and attempted to duck away from his attempt to ruffle her hair. “Hey hey, the make-up artist spent a long time on doing that and if you mess it up I will have to spend another couple hours in that chair!” Ginny said making a face. It was rather boring. Sure it made her look good but she wasn’t one to sit still and really, how much Candy Crush could one person play while a team of people messed with her hair?
“Isn’t it!” She said happily. “Percy helped me pick it out! Are you surprised?”
George held his hands up in a gesture of vague surrender. Boredom was rough, he supposed. Didn’t want to incur the wrath of all that by slighting his sister.
“Percy did?” Fred did seem a bit surprised at that, and so rose an eyebrow. Percy wasn’t very family oriented, not really. Although, he supposed, their brother had been a bit better lately. “That’s crazy.”
Ginny made a face. “He’s not that bad you know,” she knew the twins and Percy had never gotten along but it didn’t make him any less her brother. He just had different interests than the rest of that family that was all and they sometimes didn’t line up with Ginny’s all the time but whatever... “I think we did pretty good! It’s even environmental friendly! You know prevent global warming or something like that.”
Both of the twins leaned over some in order to look at the little green car parked outside. “We walk to work,” they both said, cheekily. It was easy to walk to work when you lived above it, of course.
“Very environmentally friendly,” George said.
“He’s getting married, you know,” Fred said.
Ginny put her tongue in her cheek and shot George a look. "Right, find me my own place I can afford and I'll consider taking after you put my two feet to work." It wasn't practical at her job and the people on the bus creeped her out.
"He is what?!" Ginny asked nearly spitting out her soda. "Since when? And is this wedding actually going to happen? You know how mum was disappointed and upset when Bill called his off and fled the country."
The Twins giggled over that one, but not in a way where they actually seemed like they were amused by it. It’d been a faux pas on Bill’s part, and they still felt a bit strange about the goings-ons there. “Percy’s crazy, but he’s not Bill crazy. You know how he is when he makes up his mind about something.” Fred shrugged.
“He’ll do it. Who knows when. His guy came in to tell us -- still haven’t heard anything from him personally.” George rolled his eyes a little.
“You mean he’s not as stupid as Bill,” Ginny corrected with a sage nod of her head. As far as she had been able to tell Bill had been happy but then again who really knew what went on behind closed door? She wasn’t really one to judge and if that’s what her crazy older brother wanted, whatever. “He is a bit hard head and stubborn once his mind is made up just like the rest of us Weasleys.” It was a shared family trait.
Ginny had to laugh. “That sounds about right. Though who would have thought he would be the first of us to get married? I was starting to think it would be me and I haven’t been out on a date in months.”
“Yeah, seems a bit ass backward if you ask us. Then again, we always thought it’d be Ron. He seems stupid enough.” Fred was all grins and giggles at that. Some day their younger brother would trick someone into thinking he was endearing and only faking stupidity.
“You’re not allowed to date, Gin.” George put on his best serious face. It wasn’t very good. But still.
Ginny shrugged figuring one of them had to take the plunge first and it might as well be Percy as it wasn’t going to be Bill and no one else seemed willing to do it. Personally she wasn’t in a hurry much herself either. She was far too young for that. She wanted to have some fun first and focus on her career.
“That’s what you think,” Ginny said with a tease. “I just don’t tell you.”
“We read all the gossip mags,” the twins said, cheekily. “Just looking for you name in. So we know if we’ve got to beat anyone up this week.” They didn’t really. If Ginny dated it was her own business. But as big brothers, it was their job to hope that business never happened.
“Oh, did you read the one where they compared me to Lindsay Lohan?” Ginny said perking up with a big grin on her face. “I mean it was only one party and I only had a little bit to drink...” She said flourishing her hands a bit and embellishing the story in all the little dramatic ways one would hear in the tabloids. The thing was that it was all completely false. She was just having one up on on them as she hadn’t been to any parties in a long time.
“Pretty sure Mum would have called us crying if that was really the case.” Fred really did ruffle her hair this time, despite her earlier glare.
“Nice try, Gin.” George agreed, sounding bored.
Ginny made a face, "You're right. I am more awesome than that." Not to mention that her contract would be void if she went and got all that negative publicity. "I don't let mum read that trash anyhow."
“You can’t completely stop her,” Fred said.
“She does go grocery shopping. It’s all in the front aisle bits.” George agreed. But when it all came down to it, they trusted her not to be stupid. Not any more stupid than they were, anyway.
Okay, he had her there. “I would hope mum would have more sense than that as would my brothers,” except maybe Ron but whatever. “I mean there is actually little chance to do much damage. I am not usually invited to the big things. The really big parties.” And Ginny bet she wouldn’t while she was still working for Disney.
“Can’t imagine it’s much fun to go to a party where any weird behavior results in shitty photos on glossy pages across the newsstands the next day, anyway.” Words of wisdom, Fred had.
“Eh.” George? Not so much. “Got time for lunch? We know this great burger place. We’ll close shop for a bit.”
