Tonks had a list. It was an important list. It was a wedding list. She was determined that they wouldn’t get distracted until they’d ticked everything off. So she was sat at one end of the couch while Mac was sat at the other. She’d told him about the importance of getting everything done - in truth she thought it was all adding to the anticipation of getting it all finished - and that they had to do it properly.
“So, we need to decide on a date” she said, “That’s kind of the most important thing. Everything else comes from that; invitations, ceremony, decorations, all of it”
Mac nodded. “I reckon we can go with something as soon as things can be ready, in your timeline? And, yes. Though I ran into someone accidentally, whose sister is a dressmaker, who could make the dresses and tuxes if we need new ones?”
“AJ and I have ordered our dresses” Tonks said, “But the twins waistcoats and suits could be ordered. We’ve chosen the design but not ordered yet” she replied.
“Whatever works. I reckon I trust you with that idea. Who was your choice for designer and maker?” He didn’t want to step on an already made choice.
"Oh we found them in a bridal shop" Tonks replied, "I'm not sure who the designer is but I'm sure I could find out" She wasn't a girl who knew one designer from another. It had never really seemed important to her.
“Oh! Okay.” He blushed and grinned at her. “I just know one in the area. Sorry I misunderstood.” he grinned wider and hmmmed. “Did you have any specific possibilities for dates in mind?”
She shook her head, “I didn’t even think to get a designer” she admitted, “I’ve never had anything designed before” she grinned. “August would be good, but I’m open to the date. What do you think?”
Mac blushed and smiled at her. “August Tenth. It has a ring to it, don’t you think?” He waggled his eyebrows at her. “Seems like a good day.”
Tonks giggled but nodded, “August Tenth, yeah I like that. So we really need to pick and send out invites by the end of the week to give people enough warning”
“Sounds good. Do you have some place chosen? I think Kinkos has a deal?” He printed his farmer’s market signs there.
“What sort of decorations work for August?”
Tonks shook her head, “No place in mind, do you think we can find time to call in tomorrow?” she asked, “Well decoration wise I’ve been collecting ideas” she admitted bringing out her ideas project book to show him, “But if you don’t like them we can change it. Like I said they’re just ideas”
Mac nodded. “Of course. We should do it.” He stroked his chin, then peered at what she had. And he smiled softly as he slowly looked through her book. “Wow... these are amazing, Tonks.” He pointed out a couple he really liked, and nodded. “I love those, but would be glad to have any of this there. Do you have favorites?”
“You really like them?” she smiled, pleased. She’d worried he might think the apple, red and green theme might be too much. But to her it was just perfect and reminded her of him. “I really like the apple candles and the county fair feel of these” she pointed to them.
“I do. I think you did good.” Mac smiled, “The day of it, we can add apple scent to them, so they smell like they look.” He nodded. If they were going to go that way, might as well go whole hog!
Tonks actually clapped, she was turning into such an excitable girl over the whole thing, she grinned, “I love that idea!” she enthused. “I was thinking of asking the lady from Baxter Bakery to do the cake, maybe she could make applesauce for the center from apples in our orchard?” she suggested.
Mac smirked, loving her enthusiasm. “Sounds perfect. Applesauce or apple cream, maybe? Something rich and tasty.” He nodded to Tonks, eyes dancing. This was easier than he had thought!
"Oh apple cream, definitely" she nodded, "That would be perfect. Okay what about music?" she asked checking her list, "Do we want a band or something else?"
“A live band, I think. Someone willing to play requests for after.” He cocked an eyebrow at her. “Yes?” it seemed the best idea to him.
"I completely agree" she nodded, "Live music is so much better, maybe a folk band who can turn their hand to other styles too"
“Sounds good to me. good choice.” He leaned in and kissed her, then leaned back again. “How’s the list looking?”
Tonks enjoyed the kiss, smiling as he sat back, “Looking good” she replied, checking it again, “Order of service can be sorted closer to the time, do you have any preference over who officiates?” she asked interestedly.
“Thor.” He didn’t hesitate. He knew the man and respected him. The trip to Disneyland had been long ago now, but it still resonated. “Why not go with someone we know and who is good and kind?”
Tonks nodded in agreement, “He’s perfect” she agreed, “Then I guess it’s just the guest list left”
Mac hmmed. "Hmmm. AJ's John if course, Lorna's Alex, Cora and her family, Uhm..." He knew he was forgetting people...
“Remus, the twins’ sister Ginny, Hermione and Jim, Lily and James, Deryn and Sam” she checked her preliminary list. “It still feels like I’m missing people”
“Me too... I’m sure we can send out more invites if we miss a few...” He chuckled.
She nodded, “Yeah we can” in agreement before noting it down on her list. “That’s everything for now” she told him with a smile.
“One more thing, love. I was thinking for the decorating, we could hire some youngins;, once everything is made, under your supervision, of course.” He’d been thinking about it, and nodded. Every pony needed responsibility.
Tonks nodded, noting that down next to the decorations task “That’s a great idea” she said, “They’ll do it beautifully”
“Then I think I am out of ideas.” He grinned at her. “For now, anyway.” He leaned in for a lingering kiss. “I love you, Tonks, and our wedding will be amazing.”
She wrapped her arms around his neck as she returned the kiss enthusiastically, “I love you too and it’s going to be perfect because at the end of the day I’ll be your wife”
“Yes!” He pulled her to his lap and hugged her tight, burying his face against her hair and just breathing her in, just letting her sense fill him. “Best day. Forever.”
