Who: Weasley Twins + Tonks
What: Shopping
When: 5/31
Where: Huntington Beach
Rating: Lowish
Status: Complete

The twins had arranged to meet Tonks outside of their shop -- intentionally taking an early day and leaving closing duties to Verity so that they could both go out shopping with their friend. They were, after all, going to be in her upcoming wedding and really should have some proper clothing to wear for it.

A day later, and they were still tittering together over the pranks that Abigail and Verity had managed pulling while they'd been out 'roughing it' with Ginny plus a large group of other people. They'd done a good job with the prank, and they approved whole heartedly. "We'll have to get them back, of course," Fred was saying to his twin, even as they spotted Tonks up the street a bit and gave emphatic waves.

Wedding planning was actually going rather well for Tonks and Mac so she had been eager to get the twins suits picked out. She’d even brought a material sample for the color matching with AJ’s dress.

“Afternoon boys” Tonks said, lowering her hand from the wave as she reached them, “You look exceptionally pleased with yourselves, should I be worried?” she teased them.

“You could always be a bit worried,” Fred said, with a bright grin that George only seemed to echo.

“But no worries, we have no horrible plans against you, love.”

“I’d hope not” Tonks replied with a grin, “At least not before the wedding anyway” she added with a wink. “Now are you ready to be my dress up dolls for the afternoon?”

“We’d never,” Fred said, aghast. Or pretending to be aghast. The the truth of the matter was that they really never would. They weren’t that cruel. Jeez.

“Lead on, fearless leader,” George agreed. “We’ll try not to object too much about anything you pick out.” Grin grin. Suits were swank though, honestly, and they doubted they’d find much reason to complain at all.

“I know” she told Fred ruffling his hair affectionately before grinning at George and hooking her arm into his. “You’ll both look great, I promise. I’d never let you look anything less than amazing” And with the green waistcoats they’d look dapper.

“Of course you wouldn’t,” Fred agreed easily. “Because it’s nigh impossible anyway.

-

Once they’d managed finding a clothing shop, the twins more or less let Tonks pick out anything she wanted them to try on. They’d offer opinions once they had an idea of the look she was going for. Sometimes, you just didn’t argue with a lady when it had to do with her wedding day. Even they weren’t so silly.

“So?” George asked. “Have you set a specific date?”

“We’re thinking sometime in August” she said as she hunted through waistcoats looking for the right shades of green, “Though I think Mac would like earlier” she admitted. Not that she would mind that of course it was just making sure everything was done on time.

“Auch,” Fred said, considering even as he and George stood around in the proper sort of slacks and shirts for being dressy, but were mostly just waiting on the vest and coat-y bits. “It’ll be hot in August.” Not that it wasn’t hot anywhere from June to then anyway.

George was poking through the vests as well, though not really being helpful about it all. “Can we bring a date?”

“The orchard will provide some shade” Tonks told them, and if it got too hot she was sure there would be a spell to help lower the temperature somewhat. Tonks immediately stopped what she was doing and looked at George, “Of course you can” she replied, “Do you have a date? Are you seeing someone?”

Oh, magic. How Fred wished he could use his own -- but it was something he flatly refused to do or try without his twin being able to do it as well. And so he waited with the patience of a saint. He smiled though, at Tonks’ sudden interest and questioning.

And so did George. “Why would I ask otherwise?”

Tonks spluttered, “You can’t just surprise me like that!” she exclaimed, “Tell me now, I want details. Who is it? Where did you meet? All of it, right now” she demanded with a bright smile. This was exciting news, boys.

It was exciting news, wasn’t it? The twins smiled, and George kept picking through the vests on the rack like it was no big deal. Nonchalant. It’s cool.

“Her name’s Theophilia. Theo.” Fred supplied after an intentionally long pause. “She came into the shop last week or so.”

Tonks was anything but nonchalant or cool she was unbelievably excited for her friends. “Have you asked her out?” she questioned them, “What’s she like? Details, I need details. You’re killing me here”

“Of course we asked her out,” Fred said, scoffing, as if he couldn’t even believe that Tonks needed to ask that. Really, woman, his tone said. What do you even think of us?

George turned away from the vests, sticking his hands in his pockets and giving a lopsided smile. “She’s nice. She runs a bed and breakfast. Makes a more’n decent home cooked meal.”

“And pie,” Fred agreed. Well, yes. Of course they’d both gone on a date with her. Obviously. Duh.

Tonks held her hands up, she had to check. Just to make sure they weren’t getting her hopes up when they hadn’t even asked the woman out yet.

“Sure fire way to both your hearts then if she cooks well” Tonks teased, naturally assuming they had both gone. After all the twins were pretty much a package deal. “Are you seeing her again?” she asked them.

“She went camping with us and the rest,” Fred said, as a vague answer, nodding a bit. “It was fun.”

“She’s Southern. It’s funny. The accent is --” George shook his head with a half smile. They liked it when she said things like ‘y’all’.

Tonks liked this woman already if she was dating both of them without freaking out, it could be a lot to handle for some.

“I look forward to meeting her” Tonks said, “And to think you two were scoffing at the idea of finding your special someone not so long ago” she teased with a grin.

Fred stuck his tongue out at Tonks’ special brand of smugness, even as George gave a half of a laugh about it.

“No need to be cheeky about it.” But they were clearly pleased enough. It wasn’t anything huge on emotional connection yet -- a lot of physical and some really good pie. But they imagined maybe Theo was the sort that they wanted to get to that point with. All in good time, or something.

“Have you found a vest yet? Bored now.”

“Not yet” she replied, “You distracted me with your awesome news!” she protested, “Okay we’ll find what we’re looking for then grab a coffee and you can tell me what else you’ve been hiding from me”

“That’s cute,” Fred said, moving to sort through all the vests now, too. He was on a mission to not have to be trying clothing on all day.

“You think we’d tell you all our secrets, Tonks?” George’s smile was only playful though. “Oi, is this the color you’re looking for?” He held out one of the vests.

“I think you’d better” Tonks replied just as playfully, “Oh my god, that’s perfect” she exclaimed moving closer to look at the vest and compare it to AJ’s dress color. She hugged George, “You’re the best”

George gave a half of a snort, and ruffled her hair up a bit. “Nah, I’ve just got a good eye.”

Fred only rolled his eyes and then snatched the thing off the hangar in order to try it on. It wasn’t too green where they might look like blokes threatening to steal anyones lucky charms, so that was a plus.

“It’s amazing” she told him, blowing a kiss at Fred as he went to try it on. “And thank you both for agreeing to be there with me, I couldn’t imagine getting married without you”

There was a joke there. About how they weren’t marrying her. Neither seemed to be able to find it quickly enough though, and so went with a bashful set of expressions instead. “Aw shucks, Tonks.” George said, scratching at the back of his neck.

“We are pretty awesome,” Fred went on, even as he slipped on and buttoned up the vest waist coat thingie. Goodness, he did come off as dapper there.

In truth Tonks was glad they didn’t joke, not that she minded she loved their sense of humor after all but sometimes it was just nice to have her compliments accepted for what they were.

“You are, it’s true. Nobody could deny that” she said before looking at him, “Oh wow, you really do look great”

“Seems good,” George agreed, eyeing the outfit on his twin. “Just need suit jackets to go over that then, right?” That was easy enough. They were well on their way to being done!

“Yep” Tonks nodded, moving over to Fred and smoothing down the waistcoat before bouncing with a little clap, “I’m so excited!”

“Bloody fantastic,” Fred agreed, looking quite pleased with himself, even though George had been the one to do the work. Hey, who really kept track anyway.

“Pick out jackets now,” George told their friend, because he was ready for coffee, man.

“Okay, okay” she held her hands up before moving over to the jackets choosing two and moving quickly back to Fred to try on with the waistcoat. She draped one over his right shoulder and one over his left. “Hmmm, that one I think” she gestured to the one on the right, “Boys?”

“What?” Fred asked, absently, even as he tried on the one on the right, just to be sure, and handed George the other one to try out, as well. That was kind of the perfection of hanging out with identical twins -- you could see how two different things would look on the same person all at once.

“Mm,” George agreed with Tonks. “The waist fits nicer on his.”

“Definitely that one” Tonks smiled, “I can’t believe how lucky we’ve been. I thought for sure I’d be dragging you guys around for ages”

“What can we say,” Fred smiled, nearly lazy.

“We’re just that easy.” George finished.

And really what could Tonks do after that statement except laugh long and loudly.
