Rating: Low
Status: Complete

Even after the whole incident with Draco’s papercut and Mitchell’s eyes, the Irishman had stayed at the other musicians place for a few hours so they could work on the collaboration that would possibly be on Mitchell’s comeback album. Being a professional, Mitchell had done his best to push his worries about transitioning completely out of his head and focused on the song. He really hoped that his eyes becoming sensitive to the sun as well as turning black periodically was the only after effect of the dreams, but he somehow doubted that. He could hope though. After leaving Draco’s, Mitchell went straight home, contemplating whether or not he should tell Annie about the bleed over from his dreams as well as about the actual dream that appeared to have caused it. He didn’t want to worry her or scare her, but if he was going to eventually become a vampire, she should know what to expect. Shouldn’t she?

Walking into the house, Mitchell set his guitar case down on the floor by the door and his sunglasses and keys onto the table by the door. It had been dark by the time he’d left Draco’s so he hadn’t needed to actually wear the sunglasses home. He wasn’t sure if Annie was home or not, but the light in the foyer had been on, so he was fairly certain that she was. “Annie?” He called, stopping at the foot of the stairs to listen. The house was big enough that she could be in almost any room and he wouldn’t actually hear her unless she wanted to be heard.

In the living room and on the couch, with the lights and the television on, Annie was passed out. She had clearly fallen asleep watching television. Curled up on the couch with her head on a gaudy pillow, the remote was on the floor from where it had fallen out of her hand. Who knows how long she had been like that, but when the sound of the door closed, she blinked a bit and opened her eyes. Oh someone was calling her name.

“Mitchell?” she answered back groggily. “In the living room.” She rubbed her eyes and went to look for the time. “What time is it?” Ugh she felt like a truck had hit her.

Hearing Annie’s voice, Mitchell headed towards the living room, the sound of the tv getting louder as he got closer, “Around eight. Had a tough day?” He smirked at her as he entered the room and stooped down by the couch to retrieve the remote and placed it on the coffee table before getting to his feet. Part of him had wanted to stay that close to Annie, but he needed to keep his head clear in order to fill Annie in on what was going on with him as a result of his dreams.

“Eight? Oh good grief.” Annie rubbed her eyes and it took her a moment to sit up. She winced at the television and leaned over to press the button to turn it off. “No, I guess I just more tired than I thought. I usually don’t pass out in front of the tv.” She looked a bit sheepish. Rubbing the back of her neck, she stretched out a bit. “If you hadn’t woken me, I think I would have been asleep there all night. Were you out having fun without me?”

“Don’t worry, I wouldn’t let you spend the night on the couch. It’s not the most comfortable piece of furniture I own.” Any other time Mitchell would have said that his bed was, but Annie was different. He couldn’t just chat her up like he would some fan. Not that he’d actually done that in awhile. Darcy was actually the last girl he’d slept with and that was back in February. God, had he really not had sex since February? That was a new record for him, “Annie, I’ve actually got to talk to you about something.”

“I appreciate it. I’d wake up with a crick in my neck.” In fact she was busy rolling her neck a bit to make sure that hadn’t happened. It didn’t so That was always a plus. “Oh? Well okay. What’s up?”

Mitchell knew how ominous that sounded and the fact that he was standing on the other side of the coffee table now probably didn’t make it seem any better, “In the dreams, have you ever seen me feed? Seen me when the blood lust takes over?” He hoped that his eyes didn’t change during this conversation. He had no idea what other than the smell of blood might trigger it, nor did he know how he was going to control it.

Annie didn’t really know what he wanted to talk about. Maybe something happened with Owen. Maybe he was kicking her out? She didn’t know. It didn’t sound cheerful or anything, but she hoped it wasn’t too bad. When he brought up the dreams, she didn’t know whether to relax or not. “You mean when your eyes get all black and your fangs come out? I’ve seen that, but I don’t think I’ve seen you um.. bite someone.”

Well at least this wasn’t going to come as quite a surprise to her, which made him relax just a little bit, “Do you know about Lauren?” He knew that she’d had dreams past what he’d dreamt of, but he was sure how much she knew about that. George was the one who had been with him when Lauren killed Becca and he hadn’t been much in the mood to talk about it when they’d gotten back to the house, so he was unsure what exactly Annie knew about the girl he’d turned.

“Yeah.. that girl you um.. were with and then you turned her and then um.. some bad things happened.” Annie didn’t really want to actually say all of the things that would probably cause her to blush. She hadn’t been there when Lauren was killed of course, but that didn’t mean she didn’t know what happened. They’d told her, right? It seemed like something natural. “Oh.. is Lauren here?”

Mitchell shook his head, “No, she’s not here. I dreamt about her though. And Becca. About how she killed Becca, wanting me to turn her too.” He frowned, remembering the look on Becca’s face as she’d laid there, dying in an alley as George had yelled at him to save her. But he had saved her. He’d saved her from a life like his. Like Lauren’s. After a moment, he looked back up at Annie, “But that’s not the part I wanted to talk to you about.” He was silent for another moment or two, “After the dream. My eyes have started becoming sensitive to the sun. And...while I was out today, they turned black. I’m not a vampire or anything. I’m still human, but I’m afraid this might mean that I’m transitioning and I thought you should know.”

Oh good. Lauren wasn’t there. For some reason Annie was really glad that she wasn’t. And Becca. The whole thing was a mess. She frowned though it wasn’t at Mitchell per se. It was just at the situation. These stupid dreams that were causing them to get no sleep at all. “They turned black?” she looked quite surprised and maybe a little distressed. “Wow I um.. I don’t really know what to say. You really think that could happen?” That wasn’t what she had counted on. Inside she was now worrying about if she was going to die. Christ, she was going to die. But this wasn’t about her. Not now. “Is there anything I can do?”

Mitchell nodded and ran a hand through his hair, “Black. I haven’t seen it myself, but Draco noticed it. I hadn’t even realized it.” He hadn’t moved any closer than he already was, almost afraid that if he got near Annie he’d wind up hurting her. He knew that he wasn’t a vampire yet, but this entire situation had shaken him, “I don’t know.” Honestly, he didn’t know what anyone could do about this.

She tried really hard to put on a sympathetic look, even though she had no idea what to say or think. Though she noticed that he hadn’t gotten any closer, she wasn’t sure if she should say something. For a moment she didn’t say anything, and then Annie got up and went to hug him. “It’ll be okay, Mitchell. It doesn’t mean.. even if it does, it’ll be alright.”

Mitchell wasn’t sure if he’d been waiting for Annie to make a move or not, but when she hugged him, he visibly relaxed and after a moment, he returned the hug, wrapping his arms around her, “Thank you, Annie.” Whether he was thanking her for the hug or for not freaking out, he wasn’t sure. He just knew that he was thankful that she was there and that she knew about the dreams.

Annie squeezed him tightly, letting her hands rub his back. She just wanted to support him and be there for him. Comfort. She was good at that. Not to mention that it was nice hugging him, not that she’d ever say that. “You don’t have to thank me, but you’re welcome. We’ll get through it together. I mean.. if you turn into a vampire, probably means I’ll end up uh.. dying. Fun, right?”

Releasing her, Mitchell placed his hands on her shoulders, looking right at her, “You are not going to die, Annie. I won’t let that happen.” They might not have known each other long either in real life or in the dreams, but Mitchell felt connected to her and he’d do everything in his power to keep her safe.
