Azula arrived at the gym, only to find that Ty Lee had already left. One of her eyes twitched, and she slammed the door of her car as she got in. She pulled out her phone, dialing Ty Lee's number, "Where are you?!"
"Oh Hi Azula!" Ty Lee smiled at Jubilee like everything was totally okay, "I'm eating ice cream!"
"You're..what? Don't you need to be watching your weight, for the competition?! Do you want that gold or not?" Azula gripped the phone hard enough to make it groan in complaint. She loosened her grip, "Where are you eating ice cream."
This wasn't a good thing at all. This was in fact probably a very bad thing. Azula's voice was loud enough that Jubilee could probably hear it, too.
She grinned at Jubilee and turned back to her phone, "But ... You said the other day I was getting too thin, so I thought I could afford some ice cream. We're at this place. I don't know where it is."
Jubilee was grimacing and pointing at her throat. Sure, she found the collar thing abhorent, but at the same time, she figured you needed to take smaller, less dangerous victories. Then she pointed outside at the cross streets.
Azula snorted into the phone, "I'll be the judge of that. And why didn't you offer me any?"
"Because normally at this time of day you're doing important things, and I absolutely didn't want you to think that ice cream with me was more important than whatever you had planned," Nice recovery, Ty Lee!
She fidgeted with balancing the phone and her bag and then the phone and getting the collar back around her neck and wondered when her life got so ridiculous, "Here's some cross streets for you... *insert streets here*"
"The meeting was cut short," Azula snapped. "We were extra-efficient today." She noted the streets, "I'll be there soon. Order me my favorite." She hung up.
Jubilee facepalmed epically. She needed two hands.
"Don't facepalm at me like that, what was I supposed to do? She just would have found me somehow, anyway, and been even more angry by the time she got here," Ty Lee sighed. She knew Azula.
She ordered up Azula's favorite ice cream, and got out some money, too. Prepared to pay for her mistake, because Azula was always right on schedule, even emotionally.
"This is messed up. I'm going to give Queen Bitchitude a piece of my mind!"
Jubilee paused, then looked behind herself to make sure Azula wasn't actually standing there. Fortunatley, she wasn't.
"What would you have done if she really was standing right behind you?" Ty Lee raised both of her eyebrows at Jubilee.
"Piss myself."
"... I probably would have, too." This was all getting out of hand. Ty Lee sometimes wished that Azula knew how to be ... just ... a little bit less Azula sometimes.
"Are you sure it's not like..stockwhatever syndrome?" Jubilee stuck her spoon in her mouth and sucked off some mint chocolate chip while waiting for Ty Lee to answer.
"I don't even know what that IS?" She got her phone out and googled that shit, then read up as the waiter delivered Azula's ice cream.
"This is ridiculous. It's nothing at all like this."
"You've been around this horrible human being for years and you think there's some sort of redeeming quality inside of her?" Jubilee shook her head. She wished Kit Kat were here - she'd know exactly what to say to convince Ty Lee that Azula was bad juju.
"Look, you ever need a place to stay, The Hotness has you covered."
"That's really nice of you, Jubes." Ty Lee smiled and put her phone away before Azula somehow got a peek of what she'd been looking up on her phone.
What? There was nothing wrong with Azula seeing what was on her phone, but it would just make her angry and she wanted to sleep tonight.
Zula pulled into the parking lot and got out of her car. She strode into the place like she owned it, her eyes darting around until they settled on Jubilee and Ty Lee. She stroked a finger over Ty Lee's ear as she passed, then sat down and picked up her ice cream, taking a taste.
EAR STROKES. Ty Lee loved those. She leaned into it just enough to let Azula feel appreciated without putting her off entirely.
"I got your ultimate favorite. And extra whipped cream!" Ty Lee smiled at Azula. She looked and sounded extra exuberant, and it was hard to tell if it was an act or if Azula's presence just brought that out in her.
Jubilee squinted a bit, an undeniable air of possession in Azula's posture and the way she'd touched Ty Lee. It almost seemed like she genuinaly believed that Ty Lee was hers.
And Ty Lee seemed perfectly happy to go along with this. The taste of her ice cream seemed to sour a bit.
Azula smiled, and for a moment it lacked the usual cruel curve, "This is really good ice cream."
"I'm so glad that you like it," Ty Lee nodded her head, then went back to enjoying her own ice cream.
Meanwhile, the tension between Azula and Jubilee was so thick that Ty Lee was sure she could have cut it with a knife.Maybe THEY should sleep together!
Amber eyes locked on Jubilee as Azula ate her ice cream. Jubilee met her gaze, finishing off her own ice cream without backing down. She wanted to say or do something to express how she utterly loathed Azula.
She finished her ice cream, then set down the container, "You've got some hair out of place. Right here." She patted a spot on her own head.
Azula snapped open a mirror to check! She had to be perfect, everything in place. The slightest strand of hair or imperfection...She closed the mirror, "Everything was fine! You little bitch."
"See how easily you looked though?" Jubilee got to her feet, stretching, "Chica, you gotta learn how to relax. Before you explode and hurt someone."
She slapped her hands down on the table in front of Azula and got in her face, "And if you hurt anyone I call a friend, I will find a way to make you regret the day you did."
Azula didn't flinch. She just sneered, grabbed Jubilee by the shirt and shoved her away, "Your breath reeks."
Instead of taking the bait, Jubilee gave Ty Lee a look, and stormed out of the ice cream shop.
Azula leaned back, smiling to herself.
Ty Lee stared at the door Jubilee had just departed from. She'd been about to lift a spoon of ice cream to her mouth when the whole clash had started, and her mouth was still halfway open. The spoon had lost its trajectory as she kept staring, and sort of bumped against her cheek instead.
Azula reached over, wiping the ice cream off of Ty Lee's face and then slowly licking it off of her finger. She never took her eyes off the door that Jubilee had walked out of.
Ty Lee decided to stare at Azula as she licked the cream off her finger. She was very grateful that Azula was still staring out the door.
Azula wasn't sure if Jubilee was entertaining, or annoying. She had plans later, so she needed to get home and get her bag. So she put it out of her mind and went back to her ice cream. She decided to express interest in Ty Lee's activities, "How was practice?"
This was a side of Azula Ty Lee was not as prepared for. She tried not to sound overly surprised, "It was alright. I think I'm getting better. I keep missing a move on the uneven bars, though. Sometimes I wish I had a personal coach here with me."
There hadn't been any provisions made for the coach to be here in Orange County with her, and Ty Lee wasn't working or making money on her own enough to pay for that kind of thing. The team in general had a coach who was splitting her time between them all, but that wasn't really enough one-on-one. Jubilee was a godsend in some ways, since she could spot her and tell her what she was still messing up.
"Mmhm..." Azula nodded her head, "You need to get better. You can't shove your medals in your parents' faces without actually winning medals."
She was the kind of person who would settle for nothing less than perfection. Ty Lee had to be perfect. Her "anonymous" sponser would have to find her a personal coach. Azula shrugged, suddenly disinterested again, if she'd ever actually appeared all that interested to begin with.
"We need to get home. I have plans later." It was Friday. She always looked forward to the weekend, and while she took her friend out often, there were always those trips she just had to take alone.
But no pressure, Ty Lee.
She had a lot to prove. But she'd just have to prove it and then come home famous! Circus Freak would become some kind of complement, then! Her parents would HAVE to take her back.
If she won medals. She didn't like to think about Azula's reaction to that.
"Oh of course. I don't want to interfere with your plans." She quickly finished up the rest of her ice cream and grabbed her bag, "I'll go pay the bill so that you can finish up before we leave."
Azula grabbed Ty Lee's arm, preventing her from standing, "Ty Lee?"
"... Azula?"
"Nevermind." Azula got up, and tossed her the keys, "You drive, I'll eat in the car."
Ty Lee caught the keys and nodded, "Okay. I'll get you a to-go cup and spoon."
She waltzed up to the counter and did just that!
Azula's eyes hardened slightly. She stood, and walked outside to the car.
